I brought the lift and look toaster because in my mind Breville was a quality brand. As it turns out out the toaster is terrible. Despite not changing a setting the toast cooks differently virtually each time and often the bread burns. Just junk and Iam so disappointed ! I would strongly advise potential buyers to look for another brand. Show details

Love this toaster – We have had this toaster since Dec 2018. It has never skipped a beat. Perfect for crumpets, wide slices of all types of bread. Never sticks or gets jammed in toaster. Easy to pull out the crumb tray. Cord winds up underneath so no exessive cord hanging out...only what you want. Show details

Lift and Look is a good name! – When our "Australian Made" Sunbeam toaster made 55 years ago eventually broke down, we bought a Breville Lift & Look! Disaster- the toasting instruction marks wore off the plastic in a few weeks, the bread was either burned or untoasted, and now the cord is cracking and falling apart - exposing the wires!! This was our replacement toaster for same model under warranty! Show details

No mediation was offered from Breville. Just another "we are dedicated to improving ...." statement. Very unimpressed!!!

Long lasting – I bought this toaster 7 years ago. I use it for all types of bread and crumpets. It still works, toasts bread fine, I gave never had an issue with the lever not staying down. The only issue I had was after a couple of years the description next to each button on top wore off and I had to print out labels and stick on. I hope the method for labelling each button has updated now as I would purchase again once my current toaster stops working. Show details

Both sides cooked PERFECT and Crumpet setting – Finally a toaster with both sides even and cooked perfect. I had an old sunbeam toaster is was the best and it lasted over 12 years, since then another sunbeam only ever cooked one side and the other side was dismal and it lasted 15 months, then an aldi toaster much of the same only lasted 14 months. After some research I decided on this… Read more

toaster, finally a great toaster with a crumpet button. I wanted crumpet control and these days nearly all toasters including the expensive ones sadly don't have this feature anymore.

What I like about this toaster.... Importantly the outside stays cool to touch. Good even cook on both sides for all different types of bread. Decent wide slots. Crumpet button and cooks crumpets perfectly. Nothing gets stuck in the toaster. You can clearly see where the toaster is up to with the cooking.

What I don't like... It seems a little slow.

I purchased this on sale at Myer with a great price reduction. For the price I paid for me this is a great toaster for a great price and it has all the features I wanted and works perfect.

LOVE IT – Had this toaster 1 month & so far has exceeded our expectations... Great looking... Casing does get hot (to be expected with a metal casing)... Toasts both sides of anything beautifully... Love the countdown feature to let you know how much time is left... It "Dings" when it has finished but if you don't like it there is a way to turn this… Read more

off or down...(in manual) but doesn't bother us...

Lovely wide slots to put practically anything in...

While toasting you can lift up the bread to check on progress if needed...

Love the "little bit more" button just in case the bread is not quite to our liking...

Has a separate setting for fruit bread & crumpets to get them just right...

Also has the standard Frozen & Cancel buttons...

Easy to remove crumb tray...

Cord storage underneath...

So far we have used it on Multigrain bread, Multigrain muffins, fruit bread, crumpets, bread rolls & all toast beautifully once we get the setting perfect...

Nothing gets jammed so far...

Perfect price at 30% off at David Jones

Expensive Landfill – Well, I reckon it's been just over a year since I was last on the toaster purchasing roundabout and after much deliberating I decided to shell out the cash (around $150 from memory) for the 4 slice version of this overpriced hunk of junk. It was ok (as in it effectively toasted bits of bread) for a couple of months, literally a couple of months… Read more

before it started to decide that about 15 seconds was long enough to complete it's designed task more often than not and pop up. You could push is down and up it would come again, unsurprisingly not the least bit toasted. It would work sometimes but the frequency with which it would successfully toast diminished until a couple of months ago when operating it will now trip my powerboard safety switch. Given the amount of similarly themed reviews and and complete lack of response from the company responsible it seems that my experience if far from isolated. They clearly could not care less. Buy Australian they say... No chance I'll be making that mistake again, not if it is manufactured by Breville.

So, probably a month or so out of warranty and into the landfill it will go. I get the impression I should just be glad it didn't toast my entire house by setting it on fire. If I can prevent one person from purchasing a Breville product resulting one more faulty appliance in the ground I'll take that as my good deed for the day.

FIVE FLIPPIN STARS – I have a bit of an obsession with kitchen gadgets - I paid $117 for this toaster. It is divine. I wouldn't have it any other way. You can lift the lever and check how your toast is going without stopping the toasting process. There's a light indicator of how much longer until the time is up. There's a button ("a bit more") you press and then put… Read more

your toast down and it'll put just the right amount of extra toastiness that you need. You can tell it to only cook one side of your bread/bagel/crumpet/whatever. Because the four slice function makes it long, you can also toast your artisan breads that don't fit in a normal toaster. Fancy! It's the best toaster I've ever owned and like I said I'm not stingy on price when it comes to kitchen gadgets. This product is TOPS.

After 3 Years Works Like A Charm – Bought this beauty in May 2017 for $99 from Bing Lee. Has toasted evenly and perfectly every time. Crumpet setting is awesome, as is the "bit more" function. Occasionally it doesn't hold down on first press but a 2nd gentle press and it's locked firmly in place. Show details

Like it and have bought twice but also broken twice – Highly recommend when you buy it buy the extended warranty. I am on the second one I've purchased however I've had 3 altogether as one was replaced under warranty. The first one the element went in the right hand side. Terrible Toaster – Lasted around 20 months. Very poor quality for the price. Went to use it today, the outside lights turned on, counted down the time while the heating elements did not turn on. This toaster was terrible its entire time. It over toasted the slice on the buttons side of the unit and under toasted on the other side. There was no removable clean out… Read more

Landfill after 2 years, twice! – We have tried two of this model, never agai, they only lasted 2-3 years each. First one the touch buttons stopped working, second one the lever would not stay down (google says to disassemble and clean the lever contact plate but who wants to do that). Breville, I do not want to buy a new toaster every 2-3 years, or pay as much to have it serviced…how about you compete on a quality user serviceable product, not price and landfill. Show details

Regretful purchase - waste of money, waste of bread – With a kitchen full of Breville appliances which have stood the test of time, I purchased this toaster expecting another quality product without reading the reviews - BIG mistake. There is NO consistency with toasting, the same time setting can create warm bread one day, charcoal the next. The frozen bread setting is useless, usually resulting in… Read more

patches of charcoal on otherwise barely toasted bread. The timing needs to be adjusted depending whether it is the first time toasting for the day or if the toaster has already warmed up and it is incredibly inconsistent. So much bread has been wasted since we purchased this poor product. Very disappointed and do not recommend!

Very dodgy that this product stops working just outside warranty period – I liked this toaster when I first bought it, but just outside the warranty period I started having issues with the lever raising up and down, and Breville did not want to know about it, even though it seems to be quite a trend with this model and brand. I purchased based on very positive Choice.com.au recommendation, however they have now… Read more

withdrawn this recommendation based on feedback that this product fails soon after it is covered by warranty.

I don't expect a toaster to last forever, but I it's very dodgy that reviews I have now read show that this product fails when it does.

I would not buy a Breville toaster after this experience.

waste of money – I make my own bread so wanted a four slice toaster to toast larger slices. I won't be buying Breville again. The setting controls don't give great results but worse is the push down lever to start toasting is a cheap mechanism and broke not long after buying it. I have to hold it down now to keep it on. Rubbish item. Show details

Useless – The toaster never stays down, I need to click it and push it again and again, sometimes up to ten times just to brown one piece of toast. In addition the lights come on at random times, even when not being used. One more thing to note - the publicity pics show the toast being raised high out of the toaster - in fact you can raise the toast only… Read more

an extra centimetre above the normal height (just have a look on Breville's publicity pics - the side pics show there's only a short distance above the rest position of the lever that it can be raised). I'm so tired of having to play "flick up the lever quickly to catch the toast in mid air before it falls in again".

Died after 2 years. No warranty replacement. Unhappy customer – It was a bit slow but fine until it just packed up after 2.5 yrs. Last Breville toaster ever – Like most reviews here, we loved this expensive toaster for the first couple of years, until it started refusing to keep the bread down long enough to toast. Pops up randomly after a random time, from a few seconds to half done. Just out of the 1 year warranty, (which is ridiculous for a toaster, which independent sites say should last 6-8 years).… Read more

We have always used Breville, but will be reluctant to purchase their products in the future, based on this experience.

Not a good toaster – I bought one of these toasters when they first came out, wasnt cheap but worked really well. I recently replaced it with the same model and am very disappointed with it, it doesn't toast like the first one did, if you turn it up too high it burns the bread but doesn't toast on the lower settings. Wont be buying another one. Show details

Perfect for a couple – I haven't had a toaster for some time now and we invested in the Breville 'Lift & Look' Pro. I love the ease of the settings, can stop it anytime at the press of a button, 'cancel'. I mainly use it for toasting fresh bread, sometimes the top of the bread is over toasted compared to the end. Can over toast if the toaster is used more than once, so I automatically reduce the setting. Toasts crumpets and they come out fine. Show details

Warranty expires and the toaster expires with it! – When we purchased this toaster it was exactly what we wanted! For 12 months it worked like a charm- We are a family of 5 and we used it regularly. Within 6 weeks of the warranty expiring (12 months) the toaster handle won’t hold down. In order to use the toaster, you have to stand with it (while in use) and hold the handle down in place for it to toast! I would NOT recommend this toaster- it’s not with the price tag! Show details

Expensive toaster for just two years life span – Paid $99 for this toaster in Myer two years ago. Recently it just pop the toasts up whenever it feels like it. Now it does not stay down at all. Worst toaster I've had! – My biggest issue with this toaster is that the toasting time is all over the place. It just pops up whenever it wants to. Even toasting and fits large sourdough slices – This toaster is stylish and has a lot of handy features, including a 'little bit more' function for when you don't want to re-start the process. There is also a progress bar that shows you how far along in the cooking process you are. Overall though, our favourite feature of this toaster is the even heating. Plus it is the perfect size for larger bits of bread (or 4 standard size).  Show details

it. Not sure what the Crumpet function does...appears to be no different to other functions. Then, just 2 weeks ago, the toaster pops the bread up every 2 seconds with the cancel button flashing. Almost like the product is possessed, the cancel button flashes and beeps even when turned off at the mains! The toaster is regularly cleaned out, in theory, it should not have just STOPPED working. Of course, its out of replacement warranty, but still under STATUTORY WARRANTY (2 years people....the big companies won't tell you that and will not honour it!). When contacting Breville, they acknowledged my email (at least) BUT offered a replacement for $75 with free delivery....WTH??? As I wasn't keen on even receiving a response, I went to KMART, spent $35, am anticipating this toaster will last me 12 months, in which case, I can go and buy another one and still be out in front financially than taking up the 'dud' offer from Breville to pay $75 for a piece of crap. When I conveyed this to the 'Ask Us' CSO, the reply I got was "Thank you for your reply" Regards...[name removed]
