Burn accident waiting to happen – Was a gift. Found it difficult to handle the hot stone & load the pizza on at the same time as worrying about how not to burn myself. Only used it twice max & stored it away. Didn't love it at all. Now it's tripping out the power board to the house. Tested elsewhere & same problem. Will Breville do anything about that problem ? Replace, refund, repair ? Any ideas?  Show details

Perfect Pizza's every time – We love this Pizza Oven, we have the setting on 7-8 o'clock and I use a new sheet of baking paper on top of the stone each time I cook the pizza - this keeps your stone clean! The kids turn their nose up at pizzas at Franchise pizzas now.  Show details

After 5 years it has finally broken....:( – OK, THIS OVEN IS FANTASTIC...but FORGET the instructions that come with it. Set it on 10 oclock on the dial (halfway between 3/4 and full heat.) place your pizza dough on a (medium or large) aluminium tray (use ample olive oil on the tray), then make your pizza, and dont stack your pizza too high. Place this in the hot oven for EXACTLY 15… Read more

minutes, then remove it from the tray and let it cook (on the stone, no tray) for a further 5 minutes. After this place it back on the tray and turn the heat down to 2.30 (halfway between 0 and a quarter on the dial). Then LEAVE THE LID UP. The pizza is ready to eat but a further 10 minutes or so will keep it hot and make it extra crispy (if needed). DELISH...the pizzas taste amazing..I have NEVER cleaned anything but the stone (a wash in the sink), any food spills into the base or on top dry out and do not smoke after this. I have continually made AT LEAST two pizzas every two days for five years (thats at least 1800 pizza's) but the lid hinge has finally broken, sad, but WHAT GREAT VALUE....I love it. will be heading out to the shops to grab a new one, BRILLIANT.

Finally great pizza at home – I've been making my own pizza for many years with inconsistent results in a convection oven. Breville made it so easy to make perfect pizza no matter how thick. My daughter's boyfriend said it was one of the best pizza's he's ever had. It is the best Mother's Day Present ever!!!

Terrible – I give it one star because that's how many good pizzas i got out of this piece of equipment. First pizza we ever made was perfect. However every subsequent attempt (about 5 or 6) was horrible. Eventually threw the oven out because it would smoke ridiculously every time. Kept the stone and use that in the oven now. I would just buy a decent… Read more

stone from the outset if i had my time over First pizza. The stone. Smokes too much. Inconsistent pizza. Difficult to clean

I would suggest that you had it turned up too high if it was smoking. I use it down on low to… Read more (+1 reply)

Bad – Initially I was impressed with this product however as time has gone on I have grown less & less pleased. It serves its purpose, in that it is convenient a bench-top oven that cooks pizza. Typically I put the oven on the highest heat for 30+ minutes to make the stone nice & hot, & then turn it down to around medium for a 7-10 minute bake. I… Read more

make my own dough, which usually turns out very nice when cooked in this oven (because of the pizza stone). Recently I decided that I will not use this product again, after I cooked pizzas in my regular oven using the stone, & they turned out to be my best pizzas yet. I am a pizza lover & I am particular about my pizza (not saying I'm some sort of pizza god, but I have a strong personal opinion of what is a good pizza & what is a bad one).

I wanted to explain a couple of things that I didn't like about this product, as these criticisms can often be more useful to interested people.

1. I find cleaning to be annoying. It's not difficult by any means, but it's definitely not what I'd consider "easy". I like to put semolina on the bottom of my crust for extra taste & crunch, & the residue from this inevitably ends up in the lower basin under the element. The element does not lift up, therefore it becomes an annoyance to have to try & sweep around & under this to get all of the residue into a position where it can be removed.

2. I like my cheese to melt into a layer above the sauce, with nice golden spots, & the cheese should stretch when you pull away from a bite. This never happens with the pizzas I make with this product. The cheese always seems to lose consistency, & this often happens before my crust has reached my desired state. What I mean is that the cheese seems to turn a bit "watery" (for lack of better term) & mixes with the sauce in an undesirable way, creating a kind of red/yellow mess. I'm not ignorant enough to "blame" this product, because I realise that this is perhaps caused by my technique or ingredients. Nevertheless I've only ever experienced it with this oven so it's worth mentioning.

Regardless, it is a decent enough product that does what it advertises & it is probably suitable to some people. I couldn't recommend it however, because you can definitely cook better pizzas in a conventional oven; just put the stone on the lower rack, heat your oven on high for 30+ minutes to get the stone nice & hot, then using a pizza peel slide your pizzas in there & cook for 10 minutes! The pizza stone really helps create a nice crispy crust on the bottom.

Heats up fast.

Probably uses less power than conventional power. Cleaning can be annoying.

End result not always satisfying.

Making my own pizzas now – Got it as a gift. Plugged it in, threw in different pizza toppings on different bases (handmade deli bases, McCain etc).. Great results.. If you dont clean the base properly, it will smoke a bit.. I soak the stone in a bucket overnight. The manual also suggests using bi-carb soda.. Easy to make pizzas Bit of a clean up

Excellent – i am a pizza addict and thought i would try this machine as an alternative to buying pizza. i am not a fan of the domino's and pizza hut type pizzas so i thought i would give home made pizza a go. i have now had the pizza for over 4 years and it works great and more importantly gives out great pizza. the recipe book has a coupke of great… Read more

instructions on how to make a good quality italian style pizza base. it took me a while to master however i have finally been able to make a great dough. the oven is quick to heat up (i always have it on the highest setting) and not to big. a tip would be if you immerse the pizza stone in water to clean, make sure you heat up the stone nice and hot so all the water evaporates from the stone before placing on your pizza base. Highly reccommended makes great pizza, easy to use a little tricky to clean

Excellent – Our whole family loves the pizzas that this cooks. We have had friends out for tea and they have gone and bought one after tasting the pizzas that come out of it. Think I need commission from Breville, lol!!!!! This is one of the best gadgets I've bought, cooks very evenly and with different bases. Cant think of anything.

Excellent – This was a gift that I thought would be another single function appliance that is only used once or twice a year. I was wrong! This is an appliance that makes great pizza (and we are very, very particular about pizza!), is easy to use and easy to clean. Pizzas are more akin to traditional Italian pizzas (probably due to the removable stone on… Read more

which it is cooked, as well as the heating elements above and below the pizza). The size of each pizza is just right (similar to a large sized Dominos or Pizza Hut pizza); two pizzas feeds our family of 5. It is a little bulky, so is not something to leave out on the kitchen bench. While I would not have purchased this appliance for myself, I am very glad that somebody else did! cooks more like a traditional pizza, easy to use, easy to clean. It does not have a light to indicate when it is sufficiently heated.
