Died after 18months - e1 error – Had it about 18months now and it is giving the dreaded e-1 error and stopping after a few seconds. Good microwave otherwise, good features. Like the flatbed as it makes cleaning easy. High mirror finish shows up the smudges etc. 12 month warranty only. They must have figured it wouldn't last the distance! I'd suggest spending more on something that will last. Check the warranty period. Show details
Rather avoid – The issues are almost identical to the concerns raised in earlier posts. I have had the inverter for less than 2 years. It has now started to emit the e - 1 message and stops functioning after about 5 seconds. With so many similar complaints it seems to be an inferior product and will avoid it in future. Show details
E-1 Error – E-1 Error after 1 year. Seems to be a recurring theme. Show details
It's been fine for 12 months, but getting E-1 error message – I have had this for just over 12 months. I don't do anything fancy with it - just heat up food and do a little defrosting. Up until now, it's done the job, however it just started showing the E - 1 error which many other people seem to be reporting. It runs for maybe 10 seconds, then shows the E - 1 error and beeps. According to online searches this error requires the motherboard to be replaced. I hope not. Show details
Performs OK... seems reasonably durable – This is a reasonably compact microwave, fairly intuitive to use. Purchased c.2018 to replace a dead Panasonic, which was cryptic and awkward to use. Control-wise, the Breville is as easy or easier to use than the time-proven Sharp Carousel models, with the added benefit of a flat-bed interior. This makes it easier to clean, HOWEVER... the… Read more
rotating plate method does a better job on average when it comes to even heating and defrosting.
Panasonics (and, frustratingly, later Sharps) made it difficult to just push a button for an instant minute or 30 seconds of heating. The Breville is a lot more intuitive here, with it's 1-6 minute "quick start" on the keypad, as well as the Start button doubling as a +30 second function. Most people want to just blast things for a few minutes or kick off a quick defrost, not set up a complicated cooking schedule, and the Breville is very good at this.
Downsides? Durability of the interior coating. I have a habit of spray-wiping out the interior regularly, because crusty microwave interiors (and, I suspect, the people responsible for them) are completely disgusting. However, this has caused and/or accelerated flaking of the non-stick interior coating, to the point where I am seeing some rust. Not good. Also, the interior lamp blew some time ago and I haven't bothered to replace it, because 1. it's a PITA blade terminal replacement bulb rather than a more common E14, and 2. there's some disassembly required to replace. Not the end of the world, because I'm hardly examining things as they're getting microwaved; sizzling/popping is normally a better indicator of when things are being taken a bit far. Finally... heat distribution. Try as it might, the "diamond wave" diffusion feature of this unit doesn't really make a difference to the results achieved by other flat-bed microwaves. As much as I dislike the rotating plate, it does do the best job when it comes to even heating and defrosting.
Overall, not bad, but not great. Can't say it'll be a new-for-old equation when this one dies, I'll definitely be seeing what else is available.
Broke just after warranty – Worked great til just after 12 months old and out of warranty. Has E1 error which is a main board issue and costs more to be repaired than a new one. Go figure. Such a waste, they make it so hard to no be wasteful and keep stuff working. I see others have had the same problem. I wouldn't recommend anyone purchase it for fear of the same issue. Show details
Faulty – I have had this for about 15 months now. It worked okay and I liked the flat bed. Not as powerful as my previous microwave but easy to clean. Unfortunately it is now displaying an error code E-1 and is out of warranty. Seems like quality is an issue if it breaks after just over 1 year. Manufacturers should be forced to guarantee goods which are not cheap for a decent lifetime Show details
Terrible :( Heats up plates, bowls & cups but NOT the actual food or liquid!!! Dangerous to touch plate etc! – -Can’t see in microwave -Does Not Heat food or liquids!!! Only heats plate/bowl/cup!! Which severely burns you!! -Not easy to use!!! -Does it even have a timer?? + Easy to clean it Show details
I don't like it – The light bulb went off before 3 months and it is a very noisy machine compare to others. The button is not responding very well and I have to press several times to make it work. Show details
Was faulty from the start – I only had mine just over a year when the bulb inside started flashing and died..i paid over $40 for a replacement just had it in place for 2 weeks now it goes on and off all the time..Breville says the microwave is probably faulty and causing this to happen ..didnt offer me any other assistance just said it was out of warranty now..so im stuck with this flashing bulb every time i use it Show details
Doesn't heat as well as regular microwave – First time trying a flatbed style. Probably would not buy again, would return to standard rotation style as it seems to not heat as thoroughly. The microwave itself works fine, is good quality etc, it's just the heating coverage we find not as good. Show details
Cold Spots slow heating – Don't quite understand the rave reviews. The lack of a spinning plate means that there is often large patches of food that are completely cold while others are lava hot, keep having to open the door and move the food to get it fully warmed
Flatbed Microwave is Awesome - LOVE IT!!! – I needed a New Microwave and looked at reviews before deciding to get one and I was SOLD on the idea of getting one that didn't require the food to spin around on a rotating plate. Now I can cook food that doesn't need to bang into the walls inside the Oven or fall over like the Microwave Gravy can. Anyway This Breville Flatbed Microwave is… Read more
awesome. I do keep a cloth handy and wipe the moisture out after each use so it's not at risk of rusting away. I would give it 10 stars if possible.

Best microwave I've had – This is how all microwaves should be made. No silly turntable - just a flat ceramic floor, providing a lot more room. It works well and is relatively quiet, while being great value for money. Awesome purchase (I got it at discount from Bing Lee Tuggerah). Show details
Love the flatbed – I wasn't sure about the reliability of flatbed technology for even heating but Breville "Diamond Wave" seems to actually deliver on what they promise with quick, consistent heating across a wide range of foods. I like the presets and quick 30s preset. The microwave has a very fat bottom which isn't obvious in the pictures so check your space dimensions before making your purchase! Show details
A New Experience – I purchased my new microwave six months ago. I chose the Breville Diamond Wave because it was within my budget and it uses new ideas. The number keys, 1 - 6 instantly turn the oven on for that amount of minutes, and the START button will add 30 sec. to the time that was previously set. Very handy. It does not have a turntable. small pyramids on the rear inside wall, and a heating base. It takes some getting use to the food not turning around, but no longer a drink where the bottom has not really heated. It also takes square containers which may not fit in a turntable.
It is important though that anything that you cook for a longer time will need to be turned. One side does heat more than the other. An item I am really happy with.
Flat bed is brilliant. Heating time slower than my old microwave – The flat bed is so much better than the spinning glass tray! Cleaning takes a second in between use simply wipe all surfaces in a minute. Looks great too. The defrost works well. The heating time is slower than my old microwave. Not sure of the power outage comparison. Doesn't bother me too much of it takes little longer to heat Show details
