Constant Overheating – I bought this a few years ago, and it has been overheating ever since. So gutted I didn't take it back in the first place. You cannot make smooth hummus, or make Toum, It simply can stay on for that long! Pretty disappointing really. It can blend soup though, and grate cheese etc. Also the blades a a nightmare to clean, and the seal in the lid… Read more
has 2 options, no seal (so noisy and not sealed at all), or seal in (so extremely hard to open and close lid).
Expensive Door-Stopper – I bought this processor on the strength of reviewers who said they had them last over 20 years. Well the days of Breville making such quality appliances are well and truly over because I got a little over 2 years use out of this machine before the motor died. It received fairly light use as well. My advice: avoid Breville machines. Breville… Read more

Excellent Machine – Product Review 08/03/18 Breville Food Processor-:ikon BFP650 This product was purchased on 23/02/2011, therefor this review spans a period of 7 years. The Breville Food Processor (from here on called the BFP) is a delightful addition to our kitchen and saves so much work that would otherwise have to be done by hand. The BFP has four… Read more · 1
stainless steel cutting blades on a central stem and makes short work of any food processing. There is also a plastic blade for a gentler action when making pastry and scones and other baked goods.
3 stainless steel discs accompany the BFP which are housed in separate container with a plastic see through cover for protection. These are used for slicing, grating and shredding and are a super addition.
The machine itself contains a hefty motor which is what is needed when processing hard food like carrots from a standing start.
The BFP is a heavy piece of equipment so it is stored on the bench top. For ease of movement we have placed a pad underneath allowing the machine to slide into a working position with ease.
The controls are On, Off and Pulse.
The machine is accompanied with operating instructions and recipe's.
The lid has a super seal which is too good, it made the lid difficult to close. As we don't use the machine for liquids we dispensed with the seal.
This is a fantastic food processor and I recommend it for any kitchen.
I take this opportunity to thank Breville and when the time comes I will purchase another just like it.
Quills.
Overall good, but poor quality plastic spindle worn away after about 15 uses – When I first got this I was pleased, everything worked, and the cheese chute has 2 sizes which I love. The blades are all sharp and work well, and the bowl part has no plastic bumps, making scraping down the sides with a spatula easy. All dishwasher proof is excellent. But after using it about 10 -15 times, the centre spindle has worn away and I… Read more
can no longer use the disc blades – this is a part that is under warranty due to Australia consumer laws, but when I contacted Breville I was told they would not replace it! So they need to use better quality plastic for that part.
Brilliant – As a busy mum this is the best product in my kitchen. Is easy to clean, use and gets the job done in no time. The blades are easy to switch and the box is neat and compact. Making cakes has also never been quicker. I love the grater and slicer blades Easy to use and clean. The main blade could come with a cover. Its super sharp and worrisome to leave on the benchtop

Not chopping well – Not happy as the machine does not process food properly which is its main purpose therefore I would not recommend this machine be purchased and if given another chance I would not purchase one either.Very disappointed as normally Breville products are outstanding. The only thing right was the size of the machine. worst customer service ever!! – Constantly overheats. When I asked Breville about overheating I was told it should only be used for a few seconds at a time? Now out of warranty I went to turn it on and the on/off buttons fell into the cavity and can go to a repairer for a fee. Show details
Jammed spindle and wont work – Only used this machine a handful of times and its been ok but not great. It was not the cheapest of machines and was sold to me as a more professional unit. What a crock!! Really slow, processesses unevenly, only little qtys of things before it gets pretty hot. So I pull out the machine to make a batch of hommus and now power is on but spindle… Read more
is jammed and will not move so now cannot get bowl on because its sitting too high. Tried your ever helpful customer service who have simply referred me to an external appliance service place citing they cant help me troubleshoot as they are only a call centre! Some customer service. No wonder you discontinued this model worst thing i have ever used!!!!!!

Perfect accompaniment in a kitchen – This is one ☝️ Of those appliances that is definitely needed in the kitchen. Firstly it looks stylish and blends in well. The large bowl is useful where you may make double batter quantity for cakes, where also there is n splashing of batter everywhere and all ingredients are blended exceptionally well. Also love using to crumb bread, make large… Read more
quantities of pesto etc. At first, the Kitchen Wizz shut down on me and I thought ‘well, that was a waste of money’ - wasn’t happy, only to be informed that if the appliance heats up, it will shut down to cool of. This prolongs the life of appliance so now I do short bursts of wizzing. Love the casing for the protection of slicing, shredding blades. All is compacted into its own case. Overall, I’m glad to have added this item to my kitchen and thank the Product Review contributers. I also rely on honest people’s revies as this also contributes to my decisions.
I’ve had my product for a few years now and won’t look back.
This machine is faulty From day one – This machine is a total waste of money. I got it as a wedding gift so no receipt. I attached everything correctly and the motor just won't work. I rang breville and they said there's nothing they can do because the number etched into the bottom of the machine shows it was made n 2010. "There's nothing more we can do, goodbye" she says. Never buying breville again, lousy products and even worse customer service. Show details
An ok processor but there are much better options – We bought this unit a while ago from David Jones with gift vouchers from our wedding presents. I am a keen cook and baker and bought this product with the intention of using it to chop vegetables, make curry pastes, puréeing food, finely grinding nuts and also make various wet cake mixes. As with all my purchases, I look for quality at a good… Read more
price and researched this to the highest degree on Choice, forums and review sites. However, despite this the purchase has not been outstanding and I do not use it as much as I would like mainly for the following reasons:
1) Unit size - It is pretty large, heavy and awkward to move around (I am a 5ft 5/ 165cm - so average height) and I find it a difficult to pull in and out of storage to use.
2) Functionality - I only use the chop function as all the other functions seem to do the same thing as the grate function. Saying that, the chop function takes a while to make fine meals or cut into small pieces. Don't even try to make coconut butter or nut butter as it takes FOREVER and also the engine will cut out to prevent it from burning out. As others have mentioned, it does just push matter to the side rather than chop so you have to stop it, and push everything back into the centre and start again.
3) Cleanability - The plastic components have lots of scratches on them and look tarnished despite the unit not being used that much (probably once a month). Also, water gets stuck in the handle of the base component and this promotes mould or bacteria growth - a big design fault.
We also have a Sunbeam Stick Master and this was 1/3 of the price and I prefer using this machine over the Breville - it is small, light, easy to use and actually works. We have bought 2 of these units in the past 10 years because we love it so much. I would not repeat purchase this food processor. In fact, I would save my pennies and instead (dependent on what you want) buy another unit.
A pain to use – I agree with other reviewers, this machine seems to push food to the side and not actually chop it. I only use this machine to make vege and mince meatballs - and even then, there are always chucks of onion etc I have to pick out of the mixture. I simply can not justify buying a new machine as it does work, just not very well!
So, so disappointing – My last fp was a Braun - it lasted for 10 years and I upgraded simply because I was renovating and wanted shiny new appliances. What a mistake. The chopping action is appalling, it doesn't chop adequately and simply doesn't have the power to chop and make staples such as nut butters. The blades somehow don't seem long enough so you have to keep… Read more
pushing everything towards the blades. It failed this morning on the simple task of making a green smoothie- it couldn't cut the kale.... In addition to this it often overheats and needs 'time' to resettle itself before it can be used again. Oh, and the vibration of the central spindle has caused cracks to form across the lid. Extremely disappointed.

Very disappointing – I got a brand new Breville Kitchen Wizz Quad, just before Christmas from Fly byes I saved all the required points and was very pleased when it arrived. I finally got to use it today and was very disappointed. and had the same issue. Standby light came on, but it wouldn't go. Very disppointing – Tried to chop chillis and apart from deseeding, not one chilli was chopped! My Last processor of 30 years worked beautifully, but I find the Breville much less effective chopping. My daughter bought one too and when we compared performance we both agreed they are far from good. Very frustrating.
Could be better – I find this a handy appliance to have in the house, however am most disappointed in its nut butter making abilities. It takes 10 minutes for raw almonds to turn to crumbs, and then turns off because it overheated. Then stays off for an extended period of time. As well as this, the inside plastic of my blade has melted and gives off a plastic… Read more
taste, and the attachment spindle's grooves have completely worn out and are no longer grooves.
Also, the jug makes a horrible and loud rattling noise lately, only goes away if I hold the jug in place while it does its thing.
Biggest put-off: overheating
Brand new & doesn't work – Got given the brand new Breville for Christmas from my husband. Finally got to use it last night and had the same issue. Standby light came on, but it wouldn't go. We tried realigning the bowl and assembling/disassembling a few times with no luck. Such a shame as had my whole dinner hanging on this and had go to plan B. Very disappointing.

Newer models ought to be a step up from the old, but this one isn't – My Breville Wizz Professional BFP600 is no longer operable as the plastic shaft has split and the metal pin in the lid has cracked and broken. I bought it back in 2004 (approx. cost $400) and whilst I can get a replacement part for the shaft, the lid is no longer available. It was a great machine (except the slicing blade, which broke in the… Read more
first year. The adjustment mechanism failed. They needed to make it non plastic) - it did everything I asked of it very well - dough, raw food recipes (except smoothies, naturally), grating, cheesecakes, cake batters, mince, mince mixtures - heaps of typical processor foods.
I am now in the market for a new processor. I have been researching the options and it so happens that my mother (who also owns a Breville Wizz from...well, I must have been about 8-10yrs, so about 30 odd years ago and it still functions AND was also the basis of my decision back in 2004 to go Breville) has a Breville Ikon BFP650 (1000W), which she bought to make larger quantities of her favourite recipes. Her comment to me when I asked to borrow it was, "My old one is better, this one just seems to spin the food around the sides of the bowl more and takes a lot longer to get the result. And the grating blades get stuck. My old one has finger holes in the grating plates to enable removal, and this one needs a knife to get under the blades to take them out". I will ask her for her comparison on the grating result. Now, I have her 650 on my kitchen bench as I write having just tried it out on a couple of definite weekly recipes that I make. Firstly, dates (the variety from the baking aisle not medjool). In my BFP600 these dates are smashed (the BFP 600 has serrated blades) and need to be before the other ingredients are added, in the newer Ikon BFP650, my dates when around and around, being cut up, but not smashed. So I added the other ingredients thinking that might 'help'. The ingredients did combine, eventually, kind of. In my old one the ingredients pushed up the side of the bowl end up falling over (like a wave at the beach) and so a roll effect is created sending the ingredients back into the blades - this means great processing. In the 650 the ingredients went up and up, and stayed up, whilst the mix in the bottom goes nowhere and makes a layer over the base of the mixer. I did not ever experience this with my 600. So after processing, I then had to finish the slice base by hand for even distribution of the oil!!! (Breville? Hello? Are you hearing me!!) I am going to make coleslaw next.....OK, done. The coarse blade made lovely work of the cabbage and the fine blade, also a lovely job of the carrot. If I just needed an electronic grater this would be perfect...but I need a processor. I can understand Mum having trouble lifting the grating blades out, she has arthritis and her fingers are larger and stiffer than mine, the grip is awkward to lift blades out - a couple of finger holes would be much better.
Now, there is the option of the Breville 2000W machine, which is larger and fancier than my old 600, but its 4 blade processor function is essentially exact to the 650 and after using Mum's 650...I don't think we are interested anymore. I would be paying $450-$500 which is a huge sum for our household. Breville I have lost my love for your processors.
Breville ikon bfp650 - crappy product – Breville ikon bfp650 rcvd as a gift n bought from Myers does not work. The standby light comes on and lid and base is aligned. It's never been used since rcvd as it did not work. I would not recommend this product which cost $400 then. not throw the breville 650 ikon out, the bowl sounds like it has clicked into place but the bowl has to be pushed even further and find that it clicks further. Put the lid of the bowl and let arrows align. Plug the unit in and press ON button. It really does work. Good luck.
Expensive junk – I have had this processor for about two years now but have only used it less than a dozen times with mostly terrible results. Tried shredding veggies for coleslaw (using the coarse disk) and ended up with almost minced veggies. Tried making mince meat patty mixture, ingredients just kept lumping up and getting stuck, quicker to combine it by… Read more
hand if I'm constantly forced to stop and push everything around the bowl. Mixing cake batter and making mayo was fine. Tried grating cheese but a big chunk gets stuck between the blade and lid. . . and finally I attempted to make almond butter today, what an absolute disaster! Not only was I stopping it every ten seconds or so to scape the bowl thoroughly but it overheated 3 times, a task that should have taken at most about 20 min took me 2 hours.
I can't believe I purchased two products in this range, what a complete waste of money!

Terrible! Don't waste your money! – I was very excited to go home and use my new breville quad blade food processor. I was chopping veggies to make pasties, but instead I got gooey mush on the bottom and I chopped veggies on top, despite the promises in the advertising that this machine would not do this! I then decided I would attempt to grate my veggies instead. I put the grating… Read more
blade into place and started grating. The veggies didn't go through the grater blade into the jug, they got caught up between the blade and the lid and then caused it to jamb and break the thread on the blade within 5 seconds of using it! Absolutely terrible for the price! I'm super disappointed and will be returning in the morning!
Blades that break and don't work. Turns chopped veggies into mush at the bottom and leaves in chopped on top
Disappointed – I bought this product yesterday. Was so excited about upgrading my old breville food processor which is literally 20 years old, and go straight to work. Put in 2 cups of almonds and after about 10 mins of blending the nuts were still like crumbs??? Then gave it a bit of a stir and kept processing after about another 5 mins the machine stopped… Read more
working:( and wouldn't turn back on. I had to get out my old faithful which is also about half the size of the quad including the capacity of the jug and in about 5 mins of blending it did the job. The new machine however stayed hot and still wouldn't turn back on. I'm so disappointed, as I thought this new machine would make things so much easier and be more efficient instead I seem to have purchased a dud It looked like a good product It doesn't work

Slicing disks useless but blades cut well – Yes, the blades are sharp and they cut the food well but the slicing disks are useless as explained in other reviews. I wish I had read these reviews before buying it. The disks seem to be flimsy when placed in the machine and when I try to add the food to be sliced it breaks off and gets jammed in the top between the slicer and the plastic lid. Aah it's so frustrating, I wish I had bought something else. Cuts well The slicing disks are useless!
ok, has lasted quite well – Blades are super sharp. It is amazingly quiet. Large bowl is handy. Has a container to store the attachments. The liquid measure thing inside is handy also. I think it's good value for a sturdy model with a small food print. Definitely only for chopping. no good for blending. Even though it has two blades, it doesnt chop everything perfectly. Hi Cookie the cook - thanks for your feedback. The Breville team
Love it! – This is a great product...the quad blades are fantastic. This is a good heavy appliance that does not bounce all over the kitchen bench. Easy to clean and a must have in the kitchen. This is a quality machine at a reasonable price. This machine feels like it will last for years to come. Looks and feels like a professional machine.
Good, reliable, everything it should be – Years ago I had a Breville which was excellent so I checked out Choice magazine reviews for their recommendations. Breville came up trumps again and I'm very happy with my replacement. I bought it from the Seconds Shop and while the box had been opened and taped shut, everything was there, new and in working order. I even cut myself on the quad… Read more
blades as they were so sharp. Does what it claims, love it! Good price, reliable, does everything The motor is heavy, has a relatively short power cord
another great ikon – this food processor is fast effective and does the job effortlessly, processes vegies with ease makes unbelievable dips and as expected with the ikon range doesnt dissapoint. Its easy to clean and has several changeable blades which all do the job well I love the ikon range and this processor does everything its meant to everything and looks great in kitchen a bit heavy i think
Well built kitchen gadget with heaps of uses – This is a great food processor it is powerful and has a large bowl that is good for mixing cake, dough as well as puree soup, and cutting up vegetables. Also makes scones in minutes. heavy and feels like it is well built. The blades are very sharp stainless steel discs not the removable metal and plastic type Seems like the bowl is a little light but I have had no problems so far
I love my new food processor! – I love the Breville Ikon. Looks great and works fantastic. The manual has about 100 warnings about the sharp blade, so of course I cut myself the first time I washed it, so be careful! Haven had any problems with it. I find its simple to use, easy to wash (except that sharp blade!!) and love thinking of new things to make in it. Simple to use. Looks great. Good sturdy machine. Great size. Weighs a ton, but not really a negative to say.
Good – I am soooooooo in love with this machine. Originally I wanted a thermomix, but since that was way out of my price range I opted for this machine, and it hasn't disappointed. I love being able to grind down my own beef to make mince, atleast I know what's in it, I've used it to make mayo, butter and all the doughs for my own bread and bread rolls.… Read more
It holds up well. It never leaves my counter top. Even the recipes in the book are great!! The satay meatballs with peanut satay sauce are mine and the kids favourite!! Bit price in comparassion to other food processors......but well worth it!! The quad blade cyclonic cutting system slightly bulky...put prefer it that way...means it's a good solid product
Excellent – I recently bought this from Target - it was the processor and the Ikon kitchen scales deal for $269 . bought with Qantas points – Like prev reviewers, I bought a Breville in 1979 when they first appeared and used it every day for 25 yrs before it packed up. speed, it's a bit cumbersome compared to the old one, but compared to the 2 Sunbeams I threw away, it's a Rolls Royce! Have used most blades and am pretty happy with it It cuts & mixes well. does not move on the bench, mixes really well, motor does not cut out bowl a little large, only one speed for cutting, cuts too fine if you're not careful
The indispensible kitchen gadget – Over the last 30 odd years I've worn out my 2 previous Breville Whizz food processors from almost daily use. I considered a couple of the top name machines this time but they were almost double the price of the Breville Ikon. In the end I decided to stick to the Breville that has been so reliable in the past. As an added bonus, my Ikon came… Read more

Fantastic present! – I was given this as an upgrade to an old processor that no longer worked. It is fantastic and I love it. Then she did some legwork of the major retailers and phone calls asking them to better the competitors prices. I've used it to whip… Read more
cream, make pesto, mix cake mixes and plenty of other things. I highly recommend it. Easy to use, easy to clean, sturdy base, very large bowl. the bowl feels a little flimsy, but this has no bearing on its function or performance. I think the lightness of it just keeps the overall weight down.
Very handy – My last food processor broke , so thought i'd try the breville Ikon. It's great, only had it a few weeks and already love it.blades are very sharp so you need to show care with it. Feels sturdy and looks good if you need to leave it on your bench
