THE BEST I'VE EVER USED – I work in offices all around town and get to try a LOT of different microwaves. I dislike most of them, with their annoying interfaces, plastic panels and flimsy pressure pad buttons. This Breville is the only microwave that I enjoy using regularly. Its terrific on-the-fly dial, sturdy buttons and easy display are just brilliant - as is the… Read more

durable, industrial stainless steel chassis - No crappy plastic here! It cooks, defrosts and reheats beautifully, as you'd expect. We've spoken to a few microwave technicians around town that all sing its praises, too. Oh, and Breville is an Aussie company! VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Not sure if the main dial is faulty but it wiggles and doesn't feel sturdy – Not sure if it is a Design issue or a faulty unit but the main dial (the one you can press and change the time) wiggles a lot and feels a bit lose and not as sturdy as the smaller dial, I'll be returning either way as it feels cheap.  Show details

Easy to use with useful pre-programmed functions – Microwave seem sturdy and well-built. Nice look and well design, with an LED screen that show all the settings. Love its easy-to-use knobs, 30 second instant start button and pre-programmed functions eg melt chocolate, defrost meat with shortcut buttons on the inside door. It's on the louder side, doesn't bother me though.  Show details

Well built with good functionality – I bought the Breville microwave after seeing the same brand microwave (albeit an older model) being used in my work lounge for 3 years and still holding strong. That's a bunch (>50) of tired people using it breakfast, lunch and dinner literally everyday. Thats ever day 24/7 opening & closing doors, punching buttons and tiddling dials. Cooking… Read more

results are quite good! No hugely noticeable hot/cold spots. Settings are dead easy - turn the knob and push go! Microwave is moderately noticeable in terms of noise - I'm sure there are high-end quieter ones but is not excessively noisy. I find it actually quieter than lower end ones. Think of an average microwave sound and it's pretty much on par with that. No "omg it's so quiet or omg it's so loud" feeling.

It has some useful quick cook functionalities that cooks things like rice, or smart defrost or smart reheat which saves time. I find it tends to err on the slower side of things however for these functions (ie. a "smart reheat" will be great but may take 5 minutes whereas a 2 min buzz normal will be fine).

Inside is easy to clean and choice of food type for reheating is nice to tailor heating to make energy use more efficient. Solid microwave all things considered!

Very good Microwave – Very good one . Can heat food very fast. Not big enough for big plate. Has so many functions but haven't used. It works fine without any issue. It is sturdy and well-built. It is quilt. I only use it to reheat food. So don't know about any other functions.  Show details

Awesome value for a quality Breville product – Hard to go wrong with Breville, and this microwave is no exception. It's very well built (although quite large for a 'compact') as you'd expect from Breville. I really like the knob to select heating times. Has a plethora of quick heat settings but I don't use those. Does everything you can ask of it well and I'm sure will last a really long time. Really well priced too but keep an eye out for sales. Looks great on my kitchen counter!  Show details

Huge unit – Be warned. This so-called 'compact' microwave is huge. Calling it a compact is downright misleading. If it doesn't work as expected I will give it away and consign Breville to the appliance garbage bin. Honestly, I have only seen a bigger microwave than this compact machine in a commercial setting.  Show details

Great, easy to use – So far I've found it to be easy to use, easy to clean and it's definitely an improvement on our old microwave because it seem to heat food more evenly. I like how the quick press options are hidden by the door instead of cluttering or over complicating the main panel. Although the downside to this is that I often forget to use them. I have… Read more ·  2

never had a Breville microwave until this one but I must say I'm impressed with the function and quality of it for the price. It's probably the best microwave I've had to date, looks good and more importantly functions as it should.

I think it's important to consider different brands depending on what type of appliance you're buying, for example I feel Panasonic makes better bread makers than Breville does, so just because one manufacturer is better in one category doesn't mean they a re in others and vice versa.

Breville Microwave ( just ok) – I read lot of reviews, look at prices and decided to go with Breville. I don’t think it worth the price. The front part ( door and handle) is all plastic. Looks really cheap. I have other things Breville and looks solid. It says is better to reheat the food, but it takes forever. I don’t know. I bought it at discount price, so it was the same price as the cheaper once. But for real price, I don’t recommend it.  Show details

Heats up good fast and isn't that pricy – Bought this from Kmart before we moved in, was a bit skeptical as it did cost $110, it had space and can even fit a casserole dish when heating up. Doesn't take that long to heat up food and comes with warranty. It is also easy to use unlike some other microwaves  Show details

Love my Breville! – I recently moved out of home into a unit. My parents have the larger model of this microwave, and it's superb. I live in a smaller place so I went and purchased this one. Just like the bigger version, it's great. I love how easy it is to use. It automatically adjusts the power as it cooks/defrosts/warms to get a more even heat. It's great for… Read more

pizza and oatmeal, with both of them having their own special setting. Some people are saying the dial is too fiddly, but I really like it. For me, it's quicker to fiddle with that than press a lot of buttons. I wouldn't say it's overly loud. I've heard a few microwaves that almost rattle the bench, and this isn't one of them.

The only thing I really dislike is the fact that the handle is plastic. On the larger version, it's metal. The plastic does feel a bit flimsy and I'd prefer to have a heavier metal handle.

Disappointing brand – My friend had this same microwave and she said she had no problem with it. My last microwave broke because of the push open button. So I decided this time I would buy a pull open door hoping it would be more practical right?? The noise was a bit louder than my old microwave which was an LG brand but that didn't really bother me. Well I had no… Read more

problem until after the 1year warranty passed then one day the fan stopped working. The microwave was still usable but the fan was turning so everything was steaming. I contacted breville and they didn't really help to repair the fan it would cost 70aud, I bought it for 157aud. But you would think it's a manufacturer fault right? Well I didn't really want to spend any extra on fixing a faulty microwave so they gave me another option of buying the same microwave but at a discount price. The price they gave me was 197.20aud. Seriously?? For this price I can buy a newer model and a more better one. I'm disappointed with the brand and the customer support for a loyal customer. My last microwave lasted me 8 years and it was an LG brand. See ya later Breville I might just be one less number to you. But I will be one extra number to some one else.

Too fiddly to use – It was a gift so I can't return it. The timer is overly sensitive. It is very loud. The weight of the food I want to cook doesn't match with the suggested weight. Need to use the instructions every time. It is a waste of space. Hope it breaks soon.

Timer dial drives crazy – I've had this microwave a month and found from the outset that if I want to set the timer somewhere above, say, two minutes the timer always jumps to around six to eight minutes. Then I have to reduce the time back down to what I wanted. I spoke to Breville's customer service and they said to advance the time slowly. I've tried that, even one… Read more

click and a pause at a time but still it jumps. So I guess that I'll just have to live with this annoying glitch. Apart from that, the microwave works as expected, it's not noisy - but I did find that my baked beans exploded when I used the special setting and, as you're told not to cover them, yes, there was a mess to clean up!

Faulty Quick Touch Dial? – Just purchased a brand new Breville microwave and looks like I will be returning it the same week. The primary fault I have is the Quick Touch Dial randomly skips up to 5-10 minutes after turning it only a few clicks. Occasionally I can make it to just over 1 minute before it skips, but most times it will skip after only 3-4 clicks. I can not… Read more

make comment on how well it cooks or loudness as it is infuriating to use. I can see from reviews this has been a complaint from other customers.

Early death – I purchased my Breville Quick touch from Target 13 months ago. Today the microwave would not heat. Other functions worked but the unit just does not heat at all. I think 13 months is a pretty pathetic lifespan for a microwave, especially for a known brand such as Breville. I know under Australian consumer affairs rights a product should give a fair and reasonable service even out of warrantee, but who wants the hassle. Very disappointed.

A very obviously manufacturing problem – I purchased a unit direct from Breville in January 2016 as my earlier Breville Microwave unit, purchased only 2 years ago, had developed a rather large rusty patch on its internal back panel. My BMO625 duly arrived via courier and to my dismay the time-of-day clock lost well over four hours in its first 24-hour cycle of operation. Heating a cup… Read more

of coffee took well over 15 minutes before it got anywhere near hot. Obviously this unit escaped any quality control checking prior to shipment to Australia. After contacting Breville and having the unit returned to a local service agent, it was replaced with a brand new replacement unit. I plugged the unit in and to my dismay the time-of-day clock again lost well over 4 hours in a 24-hour cycle. However with this unit cooking times were more appropriate. Breville, I think you need to get your act together and ensure that when a customer pays top price for one of your products that at least it should perform as expected. Shame Breville - two identical brand new microwave units and both faulty. I think I will think twice before purchasing an another Breville product.

Great microwave oven - working perfectly 6 years on! – I bought the Quick Touch Compact BMO625 with some misgivings after reading the mixed reviews of the performance of it's big brother, the Quick Touch BMO735. I was fairly limited in my choice due to the size of the recess into which my microwave has to fit, and the Panasonics which are a shallower build and so the only other option all have that… Read more ·  3

annoying post-cooking cooling down feature. I could only find one review of the BMO625 and it was extremely positive, so decided after reviewing the rust situation on the ceiling of my old faithful Sharp Carousel (which has never missed a beat in 18 years, except to need two replacement light bulbs) to take the plunge. I bought a BMO625 on 26 July 2015 from JB Hi-Fi in Osborne Park, Perth, which was price-matched to those on sale on the Myer website.

I had researched microwaves to death a couple of years ago, knowing that my ageing Sharp was going to be on life support at some stage, and didn't want to be in a desperate situation when it died, forcing me to rush out to buy one the same day (purchase in haste, repent at leisure!). At the time, I could not find a microwave which stood head and shoulders above the rest in terms of quality of build and life span. While doing the rounds of appliance stores, I was warned by a saleslady at Retravision that the quality of the new microwaves was questionable in the extreme, they didn't last for longer than a few years if one was lucky, and that I should stick with my existing one until it absolutely had to be replaced. I was shocked! When I bought the Sharp Carousel in 1997, it never occurred to me that it might fail prematurely - and it didn't. I decided to take her advice until I was desperate for a replacement microwave. That event occurred this past weekend when I tried to clean the Sharp and realised that the rust was terminal.

Apart from being the perfect size for the recess in my kitchen, the Quick Touch Compact is very cute and is well designed. I love having a handle instead of a push button to open the door (and what a gorgeous stainless steel handle it is!). A timer is something I tend to use a lot, so having access to one on the outside of the machine (unlike the BMO735 which has the timer on the Shortcuts panel inside the door) is important to me. The dial to turn to increase the cooking time or quantity makes it feel like a sophisticated piece of equipment unlike the fairly utilitarian touchpads of a lot of other microwaves. I love that you can change the loudness of the beep as well - very useful. My only design disappointment has to do with the visibility of the time display on the LCD which is very faint, being thin black numbers on a grey background on standby, unlike the luminous green digits of my previous microwave which you could see from across the room. A bit more thought could have gone into that function, Breville!

So far I have used the Smart Reheat function on Beverage to reheat a mug of tea (I always leave my teabag to soak for 5 minutes, by which time it usually needs to be nuked). That worked really well, despite being more than the 1 cup (200ml) capacity I selected - but it had a head start as the tea wasn't cold, just lukewarm. I heated up a can of soup last night - just turned the dial to input the time of 3 minutes, which is how long it usually takes, and that came out piping hot. Tonight I used the Smart Defrost function to defrost a chicken breast. This really impressed me! There were no partially-cooked white bits around the edges as produced by my Sharp - just a perfectly-defrosted piece of pink chicken! I cooked some fresh vegetables using the Veges button on the Shortcuts panel, estimating the weight at 300 gs (the next option up was 500gs), and they turned out just the way I like them - nice and crunchy, and not overcooked! As far as the earthmover/ jet engine-type noise other reviewers have complained about in the BMO735, the Quick Touch Compact is far quieter than my 18-year old Sharp, so definitely no complaints there. So far, so good.

I was just beginning to feel reassured that I might have escaped the faulty microwave jinx when I remembered that a few reviewers on Product Review had issues with the casing getting very hot. I had just removed the cooked vegetables, so put my hand on top of the microwave to test it and it was HOT! An hour later it was still warm to the touch. I read Breville's reply to one of the reviewers who complained about this problem in two BMO735s he returned (Really, Really, Really Annoyed, 7 January 2015) where they said that this fault was addressed by manufacturing 6 months ago. I now wonder whether my microwave was manufactured prior to June 2014, and whether I too have an overheating dud.

I decided to do a quick test as my old Sharp microwave is sitting in the laundry awaiting transfer to microwave heaven (the tip). I heated a bowl of water for 8 minutes and felt the top of the microwave (which I had never done before). It was warm, but not hot to the touch. Maybe some external casing heat is normal for microwaves? I then nuked the same amount of water in the Quick Touch Compact for the same length of time. The external casing was far hotter than that of the Sharp, particularly on the top right-hand side, but not really enough to burn an adult's hand. So how much heat in the external casing is abnormal and is it potentially hazardous? I am going to phone Breville tomorrow to discuss.

I love this cute little microwave, and don't want the hassle of returning it to the retailer. For one thing, it's a pain to lift and manoeuvre it in and out of the recess without a second pair of hands and, even if I do take it back, a replacement apparently will not be guaranteed to be any better, judging by other people's experiences. I might just put up with the hot casing as long as it's not dangerous or has been identified as a fault. As mine is in a recess, it's not as if I'll ever touch the top by accident. I'll report back once I've spoken to Breville. In the meantime, I'm giving it three stars (deducting two stars for the hot casing).

Everything I need in a microwave! – I love this microwave! It's been easy to use the dials and relatively self explanatory without reading the instructions. I've used other functions, which I don't normally such as defrost, reheating meals only because it is so easy to select and there are many more I'm yet to try. It also looks good and I like the sold handle it has to open.
