Great Bread Maker. Probably others make bread of a similar quality, but this one looks great in brushed stainless steel. We purchased ours second hand, but in excellent condition. My only issue with it is why Breville didn't leave the blue LED… Read more

backlight for the LCD display on all the time when powered up. The back light turns off after 1 minute and this means the information on the LCD display is hard to read unless under a direct light - even then it's not all that easy to read for those of us with aging eyes. I have a small pen light I have to use to read the display. You can press any button, and the backlight will turn on, but I'm worried I may accidentally change the setting doing this and mess with the bread making. There is no option in the menu to set the backlight to always on. Would also be nice to have a light shining into the bread maker to have a clear view of the progress, but heat would probably preclude an LED light in there and we don't want an incandescent oven light in the small baking area. I also use the penlight to visually check on the progress.

Other than the LCD backlight issue - that seems so obvious for the designers to have left on or at least at half intensity after 1 minute - this is a great bread maker. Attached photos showing display backlight on and off - with penlight. ;-)

Follow-up  · Answering some questions after a month or so of using this bread maker. Very easy to clean. Just make sure to remove any bread residue from around the kneading flap. some bread can get stuck where this flap attaches to the bread tin. There are 3 crust settings. TBH there doesn't seem to be that much difference between the 3 settings. I use the… Read more

I bought this bread maker having had a Breville unit some 15-20 years ago. Having had a Panasonic SD 2501 (which lasted over 10 years), then a cheapie which I wasn't happy with), I thought I'd go back to Breville. Results a re more consistent than the cheapie I had before, but still disappointing. The motor is weak so it has to spin fast and be… Read more

geared down. I'm not concerned about the noise, but by the fact that it doesn't have the torque to mix the dough properly. I need to reduce the water content of all the bread recipes I use by 25-30mL, otherwise it's a bit mushy during the mixing process. In short, it's cheap, but it's made to that price by cutting back on motor power.

It "works" but I feel limited by its mixing ability. Thus, I have to "upgrade" to a more powerful unit.

Easy fresh bread – The Breville LBM250BSS2IAN1 bread maker has truly impressed me with its user-friendly interface and consistent performance. I do recommend branching out from the recipes in the user manual. While they are… Read more

good for people new to bread making, there are many more recipes that are tastier. I can recommend using sour dough discard recipes in this bread maker, they turn out divine (see picture for a soft sourdough discard loaf)

I'm now a bread nut !! – You walk in my front door and you smell bread! I make bread for my grandkids and us. I'll never go back. It's filling, it doesn't give you indigestion. It's a winner. Two mins to throw in ingredients, set and forget. Don't eat it warm , it will still be fermenting. Wait 8 hours. Yummo Show details

Excellent – This is my 3rd bread maker over the years and by far the best. Can't believe how light it is to move around. The bread that comes out of this machine is exceptionally good. I use the Laucke Crusty Bread mix, there is only 2 of us so the 450g setting is a perfect size. 400g of bread flour, 230ml of filtered water (apparently that makes a… Read more

difference) 1 3/4 teaspoons of yeast, on the No. 2 French setting and you get a wonderful loaf, nearly up to the top of pan. You can remove the blade at the last rise (approximately 1hour 50 mins left on timer) and I sprinkle sesame or poppy seeds at that stage. Would I buy one of these again...in a heart beat.

Update: Now that I have been playing with this bread maker, I have perfected (I think) A small white loaf...here goes Laucke white Crusty Bread mix 460g - 278 water - 1 3/4 teaspoons yeast To cook turn machine on place pan in machine then just hit the ........ Menu button once then Start....takes 340mins total Take blade out at 2.00 remains they same time adding seeds if required
