Biggest piece of crap I ever bought. Just chucked it in the bin Show details
Big squeeze? More like big frustrations! – My juicepro juicer failed after 7 years. The only other cold press juicer that looked similar and had a big chute was the kuvings E8000. Unfortunately this was only available online. So ended up regrettably purchasing the breville big squeeze. The chute clogs up with leafy vegetables and fruits often get stuck. Whoever designed the flap needs to… Read more
go back to the drawing board. Once matter gets stuck, it's very difficult to return the chute to the open position. This is a very frustrating unit to operate if you're juicing more than just oranges.
Won’t run – Worked great then stopped. Juicer is fantastic, customer service was excellent at the start Just out of warranty so the good guys wouldn’t help, they also omitted to mention that this juicer has a 5yr motor warranty, breville were great until I went back the second time after receiving my unit back still not working. Power light is on but… Read more
machine won’t run, has been sent for repair twice, one said nothing is wrong with it and I’ve heard nothing from the second one and breviille aren’t returning emails. I’ve sent a video clearly showing the power light on but the unit not working. I’ve received an email from breville and they have replaced my juicer. I’m grateful but would really like the know why it stopped working and if i’m going to have the same problem with the new one All ended well. Thanks breville
Terrible juicer – After 3 months of use, here is my review. I previously used a breville juice fountain and had high hopes on this. But this is Not a good juicer. Cannot juice celery or kale. I find the chute clogs easily as it is narrow. Subsequent cleaning is a nightmare and the juice quality is affected by clogging.Regret buying this model as I was intending… Read more
to buy the other cold press model and was misguided by Harvey Norman sales assistant. This is no way a superior juicer . If Breville customer service is reading this, can I please have a refund !
Great juicer – Good quality juicer, I cut fruit and veges up into manageable sizes otherwise you will have grief but still the end result is excellent amount of juice and pulp is dry. I would recommend this juicer Show details
Very happy – Very happy with this juicer , quality machine , after reading the manual to fully understand how to use it and clean it properly... it is amazing. At first I was daunted by it it’s complex look but it is really not hard at all but find it much easier to use and clean than the old fashioned juicer we had before that was so noisey, this is quiet and… Read more
gives a lovely juice . The pulp is very dry so you can see the juice has been extracted well... Also the machine is quite small compared to the old thing I had before and sits nicely on the bench ....well done breville! We are very pleased with our purchase !!!
Breville the big squeeze juicer is not fun to clean! – I bought my Breville the big squeeze juicer 2 weeks ago. Everytime I used celery the fiber always stuck at the pulp spout. The feeding tube is so tiny unlike the traditional juicer. When it comes to cleaning the worst part is cleaning the strainer. I am a Breville product user from toaster, kettle and coffee machine so far the big squeeze is the dissapointment especially I paid $500. Show details
Junk Juicer – Bought this expensive juicer on recommendation of sales lady at Burleigh Waters store. Tried it at home but it didn't perform anything like we were told. Took it back to store right away but were to you use it you own it. Learn to love it. Would not entertain any exchange. We have bought many thousands of $ worth of furniture and appliances over the years. This was the last Show details
Warrenty claim denied by breville for top plastic part – The juicer itself is fantastic. But the top plastic part has cracked and is broken at several of the weaker points. The juicer will not work without replacing the main top plastic part. Breville says this 'major' piece is classed as a 'consumable' and isn't covered under any type of warrenty, even Australian statutory consumer warranty. The juicer is 9 months old. Now going through the retailer directly for the warranty claim. Show details
Well built but a nightmare to clean – This machine cost us $500 and works pretty well; it also comes with a good warranty however cleaning all the parts properly after each use is no fun unless you have plenty of time. We made a mistake by thinking "cold press" is better, and maybe it is but it doesn't justify the vastly extra cost and it'll probably end up taking bench space for use… Read more
once or twice a year! On reflection, I think a Nutribullet type thing is far more economical and versatile and has only two main parts to clean after each use if you don't mind a bit of fibre. If you do buy this machine, make sure you think seriously of the cleaning aspect beforehand. We'll have to write this off to experience!
Excellent quality juice if you dont mind a bit of cleanup – The product: I gifted my previous Breville juicer to a workmate, and dove in for $599 for the Big Squeeze™ as I wanted to juice leafy greens the centrifugal juicer didnt do so well. Once again, excellent build quality on the device. For the price, you would expect that. The plastics are very high quality and it all fits together like a swiss… Read more
watch. The screw compressor is a solid chunk of metal and is clearly the centre of attention. Two smaller plastic jugs fill out the equipment, with the cleaning brush. The power cord is non removable.
Assembly is relatively easy although alignment is a little more involved than the Fountain Max. The instructions contain simple detail and its literally a case of line up the dots, then twist till it clunks. The engine base is hefty, the device will stay planted on the bench.
The feed chutes at the top are a hinged flap that drops bigger pieces in through a kind of S-bend, whilst a hole lined up directly with the auger allows thinner longer items as well as leaf to be fed straight down. There's a plunger for the direct feed chute that's short enough to ensure you dont feed it into the teeth of the auger along with the product. Nice, someone would have for sure.
The Operation:
I fed through three granny smith apples cut into quarters, two whole carrots, three stalks of celery, three stalks of kale with the leaf stripped off and stalk discarded, and a thumb sized piece of ginger. Instructions are not to run the device dry for longer than 30 seconds, so I fed the carrots and celery in first before powering up.
The device is really, really quiet. I doubt people in the next room would know what you're doing with it as opposed to the Hey Everybody Guess What I'm Doing aspect of the Fountain Max. The auger rotates relatively slowly, grabbing the product and smashing it into chunks against the basket edges before being forced down against the filter basket. It seems to have plenty of grunt, as it never missed a beat or sounded strained at any point.
The juice bowl is small, and filled up quite quickly. The juice spout has a seal that allows the rotating rubber scraper basket, fitting snugly around the filter basket, to mix the juice. Lift the seal and the juice bowl empties almost instantly. Some product did ball up against the auger and rotate instead of feeding, use the reverse function and plunger to sort it.
I fed the kale in all at once, then compacted it with the plunger. The device really does press leafy product really well, as a lot of juice came out of the leaf. Which is what I was looking for, nice to see. I get the feeling you cant choke the auger easily, just keep feeding it, no problems. The dry solid cake emerges through a second rectangular chute on the juice bowl, very dry, useful for animal feed or however no doubt.
The juice:
Noticeably more sediment than the Fountain Max, but much smoother and very little froth and I suppose a little more fiber in the juice is not a bad thing. Chilled as per ingredient temps, later on during clean up I noticed there is zero heat felt in the by-product, cold press indeed. Excellent drinking juice, really was nice despite my lets see how all these taste together approach. The centrifugal juicer does make sediment free juice, but in my opinion using both, the drinking quality of this is much better.
The Cleanup:
Hmm. This is where it gets involved. The juice bowl is a little tricky to clean, as the compacted fibre cake is really jammed in there. Removing the silicone seal on the base of the juice bowl entirely from its slot and using the obviously intended handle of the brush made short work of it. The filter basket needed a bit of careful scrubbing to clear the mesh, probably the item you'll spend the most time on. Fibrous material like kale does leaves strings wound into the basket, removed via the brush and running water.
The Verdict:
Creates top quality drinking juice with a little more fiber. Practically silent. Cleanup takes more effort than a centrifuge. Price seems high, but is the going rate for these kinds of machines it seems.
Happy I upgraded. : )
