Was interested in a car after a test drive but when I queried about getting an RACQ inspection, they said they wouldn't allow RACQ on their premises...bit of a red flag to me!!!
TLDR: They *might* sell some really good cars that have no problems, but they definitely sell cars that have a lot of problems. Be careful. I bought a 2015 Ford Falcon XR8 with approx 73000km on the clock from these guys in Feb 2024, and paid a premium. I was told the car was mechanically A1 with no issues. The staff were super helpful until I… Read more
started having problems with the car, then it was like trying to extract blood from a stone.
I live in Sydney, and I flew up to Brisbane to buy my dream car.
The first issue occurred the very next day after buying the car - an engine light appeared, which caused the car to enter 'limp mode'. The car struggled to accelerate, consumed far too much fuel and was depressing the drive. I drove the 1300km back home to Sydney and I was so depressed the entire drive back. This was supposed to be the happiest day of my life, and it was nothing but a nightmare. It used 280L of fuel on that journey with cruise control set to 95km/h because the car just couldn't sustain 110 and the vibrations were horrible.
Once home, I started investigating why the car had an engine light on. It was reporting 'overboost' and entered limp mode. I cleared the error and was able to drive all day without an engine light. Love it. The next day however, engine light again, same issue. Cleared, car is perfect all day. Weird, why didn't I see this error on the first day I owned the car? Did the dealership clear the error code before I got there? Seeing as I was able to replicate this behavior every day for 2 weeks I'm going to suggest they knew. I'm not a mechanic, but my father is, so I know a thing or two. It took me 4 hours of research to discover the cause, a $75 boost solenoid. Props to BAG, they reimbursed me for the solenoid.
During my diagnostics of the engine light, the second issue was discovered. The right hand axel seal on the diff was leaking and the entire underside of the car was sprayed with diff oil - all over the exhaust, you could smell it. I got a quote for the repairs from a diff shop which came in at $5000, so I parked the car for 6 months while I saved. At the same time I noted that the center bearing on the tailshaft was also damaged and causing vibrations throughout the drivetrain making the vehicle horrible to drive above 70km/h. This was under $1000, and again I'll give props to BAG as they did reimburse me for this, although I'm sure this was just so I would go away.
The car basically sat on my front lawn as an ornament because I couldn't afford to fix my "Mechanically A1" vehicle. Being pretty active on the Facebook groups researching the issues with my car, I ran across the previous owner who warned me that the car spent more time on a tow truck than on the road. This made me worried.
November 2024 the car is back on the road, but no more than 2000km later the clutch falls to the floor, there's no clutch fluid left. So it's now early Feb 2025, exactly 12 months since I purchased the vehicle and the odometer hasn't moved much since I bought it.
The car is in at a local Ford dealer. The list of problems are as follows: - Starter Motor: Doesn't fully retract properly from the flywheel, causing 'chatter' and degradation of the gears. - Gearbox Output Shaft Seal: Leaking transmission fluid from the rear of the gearbox. - Slave Cylinder Leaking: Confirmed fault found salve cylinder leaking, recommend replacing asap as clutch/brake fluid may have not contaminated the clutch plate yet. Will need to inspect clutch plate condition while gearbox is out. - Front Right Suspension: Fault suspected in N/S/F suspension, components knocking, need more time to diagnose. - Boot Lid Actuator: Fault found in boot lid actuator, resulting in the boot not opening ever time.
These repairs are estimated at $4500 so far, but Ford have advised to have $6000 ready incase they find more. We have family friends at this dealer so I trust their report. I wish I took it to them as soon as I bought it so that I could have pursued further action.
If I could go back in time I'd buy a different XR8.

Consider other options – Bought a "car" from them, I would HEAVILY recommend looking elsewhere, and remember the cooling off period is your friend!
Excellent service – Travelled 6 hours to buy my dream car. Brett was amazing and took the time to make sure I was 100% happy with the car before making the long trek back home. Needless to say thanks to Brett and his knowledge of cars, I am absolutely in love with my car. Show details
Shocking – Placed a deposit on a car we were still deciding on. 2 days later they contacted us to pick up the car stating it was ready and registered in our name. It was never registered in our name so it was all lies. We changed our minds and asked for the deposit to be refunded since we never authorised it and found the service terrible. Instantly put us… Read more
off. They unprofessionally texted us throughout the whole process and refused to respond to emails - told us we were liable for 10% of the sale regardless. Once I threatened them with legal laws and facts, the general manager said he would refund the deposit. We got the refund after a week. Finally thought we had finished with them until they refunded us SOMEONE ELSES deposit that was 3x more than our deposit another week later. We emailed them twice to send bank details so we could send it back. They called us rudely and took 2 days to send bank details after that call. Would not trust them at all with money and details and will never deal with this company ever again.
Worst dealership I’ve ever seen – Purchased a car from this dealership on the 28/02/2023, a week later (yesterday) I planned to get a standard service done to change oil and filters so they were new prior to having my first child. I specifically made it clear that I needed a safe and reliable 4 door car for my expanding family, so much to my surprise the mechanic today found over… Read more
$2000 worth of repairs on my car that needed to be replaced in order for me to have a safe car to drive. Called Brisbane Auto Group and was told not to have the repairs done today as they needed to see the car first to “ensure I wasn’t being ripped off” by the mechanic of whom I trust far more then the dealership. Not once was I shown any empathy or even given an apology for any of this occurring in the first place instead I was spoken down to and consistently reminded that I was getting ripped off. I wasn’t able to wait for their “mechanics” to look over my car and determine what they believed needed to be fixed and to be frank they allowed the car to be sold with an unroadworthy spare tyre of which was punctured and had an exposed screw stuck in the tyre so I wouldn’t trust this establishment or their mechanics as far as I could throw them. I was told I’d be contacted by Rick the manager, was completely ghosted all day not surprised by that though. It’s absolutely pathetic that you can feel good about selling a young pregnant woman a car claiming it meets all of my requirements then a week later I’m being slapped with a massive bill due to your poor duty of care. Not to mention they deleted my review from google reviews instead of getting in touch to rectify the situation.
Got the money, got ghosted – What promised to be an exciting purchase ended up being far from that, and I was and still am left with an unpleasant experience.. From placing a deposit to final settlement took some time, but the dealer was in the loop.. so when settlement occurred I was left dumbfounded that firstly I wasn’t contacted and secondly the car wasn’t ready. of rego took 2 days after final settlement. The bumper that was agreed to be repaired wasn’t. I was invited back to get it fixed in my own time… so I’m guessing a 5-6 hour turn around with my hour each way drive. So the bumper is still damaged. The roadworthy wasn’t even done until 2 days after settlement… I was in contact with the salesman Brett and the dealer principle and both ended up ghosting my questions that were email or text only… but both failed to reply…to invite me back after treating me so poorly I find unacceptable…. And despite 3 weeks since the settlement never heard from the dealership about the pending repair, they certainly brushed me over the matter with disregard, despite texts saying it would be repaired… it will just take a day out of my time when they had 2 weeks to repair the vehicle ...this will end up in QCAT to rectify the issue sadly, as the ghosting continues. Really disappointing on a big ticket item to be left feel so poorly treated..
Purchased a Subaru Liberty in April 20. Missing integral items. Not being addressed by Brisbane Auto Group – Purchased a Subaru Liberty on 20 April 2022. argued, disputed the items that are not functioning fully. Difficult to deal with . Not trustworthy. Don't check the cars they are selling, as long as they are prettied up to sell. Do not buy a car from this used car dealer. A member of Pickering Group, but Pickering said take it up with Brisbane Auto group!
