Okay a bit of a story but so terribly disappointed. We have had nothing but excellent outcomes with vet, Scot Plummer, and so didn't hesitate to recommend this clinic to our son, who's mini dachshund needed an operation on one of his rear legs. So he made an appointment, had a consultation and diagnostic x-rays done. He was quoted $6000 and while… Read more
a bit more expensive that expect and researched,he booked in for the surgery. He returned home and about an hour later received a phone call saying if he could bring Devon straight back it would be $5000, because they have had a cancellation. Unfortunately, that was not possible and so he kept his original appointment. While is was a saving of $1000, he does work and also had to budget for the surgery. If he had known it would have been a saving of nearly $3000, as the bill came to $7977.16, he would have returned and we would have loaned the money to him. Then the day before surgery another phone call, approximately 1:30pm asking whether Devon could be brought in for his surgery as another cancellation, but as he had been fed etc, didn't want to take the risk of complications. Day of surgery and nurse advises that $6000 was a low quote and it could be up to $8000. You can image the shock!!! So, it appears that amazingly a surgery that could been done for $5000, if you took a cancellation, drastically goes up to $8000 when you keep your appointment. I'm wondering if this is because you are covering costs for a "visiting" surgeon and who had bookings cancelled, but he still needs to be paid. I can't express how disappointed I am in this clinic. The "philosophy" on their website is extremely misleading. We will never use this surgery again, which saddens us because we thought we had finally found our forever clinic.
Fantastic service and excellent doctors and nurses. They operate on my dogs leg and she is perfect. Thanks to Scott and his team
Two unsuccessful cruciate knee operations on the same leg by [Name Removed]. Z-Lig failed (snapped inside dog’s knee as confirmed by specialist) and MMP done after I returned to BPS less than 3 months after first surgery where he tried a second time to correct the joint instability. Once again, the surgery was unsuccessful. I ended up entrusting a… Read more
specialist who performed a TPLO (referred to as gold standard) which this clinic does not do. My dog is now walking after months of pain and crate confinement due to the inadequate treatment performed at BPS. I do not recommend this clinic and urge you to mention this clinics name to other vets to gain their input too! My experience is not unique. Please get second opinions and see a specialist. Would’ve saved me lots of money and heartache.
Life-Saving Surgery for My Chihuahua-X! – Title: Life-Saving Surgery for My Chihuahua-X! I can't express how grateful I am for Dr. Chris and the incredible work he did on my Chihuahua's IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease). After visiting several vets who only offered medications and countless expensive consultations without a real solution, I was referred to Dr. Chris by a friend who had… Read more
a great experience with him.
Not only did Dr. Chris provide a clear and compassionate approach to our situation, but the surgery was also very affordable, which was such a relief during a challenging time.
The surgery was a success, and I was amazed at how quickly my little guy started to recover. Dr. Chris truly has a gift for animal care and surgery. Thanks to him, my Chihuahua is back to his happy, active self.
I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Chris to anyone facing similar challenges with their furry friends. He is not just a skilled surgeon but also a compassionate practitioner who cares deeply for his patients.
Thank you, Dr. Chris, for giving my dog a second chance at life!
Professional and friendly and great vets – My French bulldog had her c section here by dr Scot and there care for her was so amazing and professional and delivered baby perfectly they were kind and caring and price was very good appreciate the fantastic service given
First experience with BPS – Took my dog here to be desexed. Kylie on the phone could not have been more helpful and discussed everything I wanted to know. Booked my pup in and in the day Phoebe gave me all the post care info I needed. This place runs like a well oiled ms home and they loved my pup as much as I do. I’ll be recommending to all my fam and friends
I'm always really happy with these guys – Our dog, Peppi, has had surgery here previously, and we have been very happy with the professionalism, the cost and the after care. The service has been an amazing experience ( with our other dog, Josie, and with our other two small pets, Juno and Rita all being 'cared for clients'). I just collected Peppi this afternoon after they squeezed… Read more
him in this morning for a concern he had. I feel you can't ask for better service than that. They really looked after my little buddy and I'm always very grateful for their very compassionate service and great pricing. The staff are all so friendly and helpful. No complaints from us. Very happy.
[Content Removed], at best – MAL. PRACTICE. [Content Removed]. I had both patellas of my little rescue Chihuahua done at Brisbane Pet Surgery. My poor girl is now worse off than before. So far, I have spent an additional $1,000 in vet bills to have her properly assessed, as she was visibly in pain which was confirmed by several professionals. When I went back into Brisbane… Read more
Pet Surgery to have her assessed by the surgeon, I was told - after a manual assessment - that 'everything was in the right place' and that 4-5 months post surgery were 'early days'.
She was not given any pain medication and whilst I was told to put her on weekly pentosan polysulphate injections, they did not bother giving her one. Instead, I went to my local vet for that.
Upon having x-rays done - by my local vet, as well - it turns out that her LEFT LEG has NOT HEALED, and that the RIGHT LEG's PATELLA is IN PIECES that are currently being reabsorbed by her body. So she basically DOESN'T HAVE A PATELLA ANYMORE and her leg is held together solely by the ligament. [Content Removed].
The right leg looked like a butcher had a go at it after surgery.
When my vet enquired about x-rays on several occasions [before and after having x-rays done by them directly], it turns out... BRISBANE PET SURGERY DID NOT TAKE ANY X-RAYS. AT ALL. Not before the surgery, not after to see if everything was in place. NOT AT ALL. At least that's what they're claiming.
This is nothing short of negligence considering that she was undergoing MAJOR SURGERY at Brisbane Pet Surgery.
At this stage, amputation is one option for my little girl. However, she would need at least ONE healthy leg to stand on. As this is not given [BPS messed up both legs after all], we are at this stage still exploring options with a SPECIALIST SURGEON.
Whilst Brisbane Pet Surgery provides procedures in an allegedly cost-effective manner, it is clearly done at the pet's cost.
This is what you [don't] get:
NO OVERNIGHT MONITORING AFTER MAJOR SURGERY [you can do so at your own cost or privately]; NO AFTERCARE; Actually, NO CARE AT ALL. Even WHEN THINGS GO WRONG. NO ACCOUNTABILITY.
IRRESPONSIBLE to say the least.
The surgeons are certainly not the ones going home with less in their pockets. Be very clear that the SAVINGS at Brisbane Pet Surgery are achieved AT THE COST OF YOUR PET's HEALTH CARE.
After an estimated 13 years of abuse, my girl certainly deserved better for her retirement years.
I CANNOT RECOMMEND BRISBANE PET SURGERY.
If you are truly interested in your pet's health, seek out a specialist surgeon for their surgical interventions.
DO NOT USE BRISBANE PET SURGERY.
Be extremely cautious in using [Name Removed] – We used [Name Removed] to undertake knee surgery on our small moodle dog. We took our dog back to him 6 weeks after surgery as our dog had dropped from 6kg to 4kg in weight. [Name Removed] blamed the loss on what we were feeding our dog. We took our dog to a specialist vet hospital who advised after testing that our dog had developed heart, kidney… Read more
and autoimmune issues caused by too much anaesthetic being administered. This happened over 3 years ago and our dog still requires monthly Specialist Vet treatment. I strongly reccomend undertaking checks with specialist vet clinics (eg Underwood and Stafford vet hospitals in Brisbane) before having him treat your pet. The photos are before and after the surgery.
