Got our brand new Supaheat II (COMP731-1) turned on today. First note it stinks, hope it's just the 'new product smell' and will go away. Second note is that it's noisy (whistling) even on lowest setting and the pilot light doesn't turn off. Third note is that there's a pretty distinct odor of mercaptan if you sniff the fitting on the back of the heater. We've got it properly sealed up and even with gas-grade teflon tape. Fourth note, it definitely doesn't smell nice standing anywhere near the top of it. Last note, if I deliberately blow out the pilot light it doesn't turn off and starts flaring around the bottom of the heater. I read that if the pilot light goes out, it's meant to shut off but it doesn't. Not a regrettable purchase and it does seem to heat quite well, but the emissions, smell, persistent loud pilot light and whistling are disappointing. If the smell goes away with time, I will rate this better.

Follow-up  · The odor went away over time and the heater stopped going out randomly. However, sometimes the pilot light does go out by itself, though it is quite rare. Overall I am mostly satisfied with the heater. It feels a bit too cold on low, and a bit too hot on hot. That said, it does warm the house up nicely and in the freezing mornings is nice to stand in front of after a quick shower.

Purchased in at Big W for $599.

Also forgot to mention the whistling went away when I stopped using some random brand of gas bottle and started using proper Swap'N'Go bottles. I think for whatever reason the gas or gas bottles were just not very good quality. No more whining issues.

Acceptable Heater – Cheap basic Gas heater that does a fairly decent job heating our open lounge/dinning area. Not as quick to heat the whole room as other Gas heaters I've owned due to it lacking a fan but it works very well as a radiant/convection heater. Very Good value for the price

Purchased in for $500.

Great heater great price – Looks fantastic, perfect size for my fairly small living room and is light and easy to move around. Heats well and although there was a strong burning plastic smell after first use it went away after a while. The vent at the top is great for warming hands!

Purchased in for $450.

perfect potable heater – bought this heater on eBay this year 2018s winter and got it for $200 bucks at auction heaps cheaper then retail around $500 bucks. Now in saying that this is nothing short of an excellent heater heats my small house excellently. Very compact and easy to use. Ignites quickly and is super super quiet don't even know its on except for the warmth it emits. With in half an hour of turning on my room gets to about 20 degrees and that's on low settings. And on really really cold nights I turn it on the full settings and Yes it very very warm. In summing it all up if you get one of these heaters you will not and I mean not be disappointed. Compared to other more expensive brands which bye the way do the same thing this is truly good value for money, foot note to all if I didn't get this heater for such a cheap price on eBay I probably wouldn't have bought it. but I am glad I did and would have happily paid full retail price for it cause they really are a great value for money heater. Buy it you wont be disappointed at all 10 stars bromic supaheat II heaters

Cheaper than the competitors, Does the job well – Very happy with the product. Heats the living room quickly. Much cheaper than most of the similar products. Very reliable. Highly recommended. Does what it is intended to do. No trouble so far.
