I’ve just had my 2023 outback serviced. First time user of Buckby Launceston, all I can say is thank you for the excellent experience. Compared to the dealer I purchased from Buckby stand head and shoulders above them. I’ll certainly by using them in the future. B. Hall. St Helen’s Show details
Follow-up · Stand out was customer service , meet and key drop. Pickup time Booking was easy over the phone, as it was my first service at the branch. I relocated from QLD and this service was the final of my service agreement The service was done on time with no extra sales pressure from them. I'll be booking again for next service. Bob.
I've been trying to get them to follow up a warranty matter for close on 2 months now. I've had to contact them to follow it up multiple times only to be told that the guy who should have been following up has moved to a different section. They did get one other part covered under warranty after a few phone calls on my part. I wonder if today's… Read more
phone call will get a response. It's not rocket science. Customers respond well if you look after them. If you want better ratings, lift your game.
We chanced upon a 2015 Skoda Octavia being offered for sale at Buckby Motors while visiting Launceston. The vehicle was on display in the Big Yard, Margaret Street. Absolutely pristine showroom condition with 116,000 on the clock. Arranged a test… Read more · 1
drive thru sales staff member Bailey. The car performed faultlessly. A written independent test concluded with glowing reviews, but revealed a faulty O2 sensor. This was replaced by BM - with doc proof of a clear test - and we subsequently purchased the vehicle. Several days later it was delivered to our door 200km away in Hobart in pristine condition. Pre-delivery detailing was excellent. A short drive went well but the return journey threw up a dashboard warning light which subsequently proved to be a faulty O2 sensor. Bailey arranged for the sensor to be replaced in Hobart at no charge. This was done on schedule and the car drives as new. Bailey demonstrated great communication and problem-solving skills and his demeanour throughout was affable, friendly and helpful. His product knowledge of the vehicle itself and of that particular segment of the passenger car market was excellent. A great car at a great price. If I'm ever likely to search for another used vehicle in Launceston, Buckby Motors - and Bailey - would be top of my list. Highly recommended.
Follow-up · One month on and our 2015 Skoda is really delivering on its earlier promises. The car has performed faultlessly. On a recent to NW Tasmania and back home, the vehicle averaged 6.6L/100 over a distance of more than 900km. Great economy from a 2.0L turbo engine and way ahead of the Renault Clio we have owned since new (8 years). Jam-packed with all the usual toys - incl heated leather seats - the Skoda is a very comfortable drive for all on board.
Uninterested staff. Wanted a new Subaru Forester. Didnt know the product, couldn’t answer questions. Rang and emailed during the week and no one got back to us. Bought a new car elsewhere Show details
Untrustworthy service at Buckbys Land Rover service centre. After purchasing a used Evoque from Local Motor Group and driving it only 320km - it was diagnosed at a LMG Service centre with needing a new transmission and shocks. I decided I wanted it checked further with Land Rover since I was hoping to go to them to have my future services as the… Read more
previous owner’s most recent service history had been with them. I told them I was still within the three month consumer warranty period and wanted an unbiased check without a conversation with the dealership that sold me the car (LMG) as I didn’t trust them. After the check I was told it didn’t need a new transmission, it was “fine” but I did need a new balancing shaft (an engine component). I asked how they determined my transmission was fine and they said through a diagnostic test. I asked if they had checked the transmission fluid and the Executive manager said that he hadn’t checked it but that the fluid was “sealed for life”. I didn’t believe this and discovered later that this was a lie. I was told by another mechanic that the transmission fluid should ideally be changed every 60,000kms. The executive manager got back to me and apologied and said that Landrover’s guidelines/service checks stated that the transmission fluid is first changed at 180,000kms!! (Crazy guidelines Land Rover follow - this is not comforting whatsoever!) I demanded I wanted the transmission fluid checked as I didn’t believe there was nothing wrong with the transmission. He took a sample and lied to my face and told me it was “normal”. At the time I believed him as he was convincing , but again I was told by another independent mechanic (and many google sites!) that BLACK transmission oil was NOT normal. It meant it was burnt and a sign of overheating. The executive manager refused to show me the informative details of the diagnostic test as did Land Rover Head Office after ringing them. All I got was a screenshot with an unclear image of a graph. Not informative to a customer whatsoever. Additionally, the Executive Manager had been in contact with LMG behind my back which made me think that they had some kind of alliance going. If they diagnosed that I needed a transmission like the other Service Centre did, I would have potentially been entitled to a NEW transmission as Land Rover only works with new parts so I was told. I believe Buckby’s Land Rover intentionally avoided diagnosing ALL my car’s problems, and with the couple of lies to my face by the Executive Manager, overall my experience with Buckby’s Land Rover was extremely disappointing. As a result of my experience, I do not trust this Company and I do not trust that the guidelines they follow as part of their servicing requirements really has the client’s best interest at heart. To sum it up: I’d be wanting my transmission fluid changing much much earlier than the 180,000km mark as would most I’m sure!! Not good enough Land Rover.
Untrustworthy – BE AWARE CUSTOMERS...BE VERY AWARE. My 2 year old car has spent over a month with this company since October, 2 trips on the tow truck, transmission eventually replaced, picked up and still surging. The worst of the story, arrived to pick car up and it had sustained damage to the front bumper. Very reluctant to look into this as it was close to… Read more
5pm and knock off time. Took 20 minutes to find paperwork that was so called completed when the vehicle arrived, funnily enough the damage was very clearly marked on this paper. Very smug employee pointing out that the damage was on the car when it arrived as the paper states. A review from the manager of the CCTV footage the following day, something that was meant to happen that night, proved the car was actually damaged during its time at the centre by a fellow customer NOT on arrival, therefore original document was falsified at some point after car was discovered damaged. I have apparently no right to learn who marked the documents with the damage. My car has now been palmed to a different service centre as we have pushed for answers regarding this situation. Very appalling customer service and impossible to trust this company. Will never buy another car through this dealership.
Terrible after sales service – I purchased an MG ZST VIBE in Nov 2024. The day after I took the car back and spoke the salesman Phil who I bought the car off and explained that the spare key fob didn’t work, he checked it and confirmed it was not working, he sent an Email to service garage in Galvin st Launceston and that they would get in touch with me, that didn’t happen… Read more
after three weeks I spoke again to Phil the salesman and again he sent another Email to service garage which I can confirm. Phil did everything to help but the service department still didn’t contact me after another three week wait I rang the service dept and they said bring the car in and they would sort it out which I did and they confirmed the fob didn’t work and a new one would be ordered but would take 2/3 weeks. I rang in three weeks and was told it wasn’t there, by this time I was getting quite irate and the guy on the phone put me on hold then came back and said the fob had arrived that morning (convenient) I drove 50km to finally get the fob operating it took half an hour and almost three months to get it which to me that is appalling service. The service reception staff need to brighten up their ideas instead of just poncing about in a nice new reception area and do their job. I hope I don’t have to deal with them again. I must add that the salesman for MG did an excellent job selling me the car he explained everything and was very familiar with product. Well done Phil you run rings around the service dept in Galvin st Launceston.
SHOCKING CUSTOMER SERVICE – After a few bad experiences with this company. I had a problem with my S Class Mercedes against my better judgment I took my car to them. They charged me $379 and my car was no different to when I left it with them. I asked for a detailed report on the work that was done. I was told 5 times that an email would be sent with the information I… Read more

Service with a smile – Good Service to date. Contacted Buckby Motors Launceston to test-drive new/demo Peugeot 2008 GT model. Had to chase Buckby Motors to send me purchase agreement for two days, so I could sign… Read more

Avoid Buckby Mercedes in Launceston – I purchased my Mercedes new from them in 2010 and they had my car for four months, always promising to have it going soon. They took literally thousands of dollars and sent the car back on a tow truck, me to pay upon arrival, of course. Service manager does not answer calls, nor ever returns calls. Emails are ignored as well. I love Mercedes and… Read more
have always had at least one to drive, since having purchased my first one in the 80's, but this experience has left me sour about any vehicle brand that Buckby's sell as I prefer to never deal with them again.
A very pleasing experience – I always approach having to deal with car sales people with intrepidation. My recent experience with their sales person Tony Hesketh was excellent. Easy to deal with and he went the extra mile to ensure our purchase exceeded our expectations. Full marks to him. Show details
Doublecheck the paperwork! – Bought a used car from them - no finance or anything involved, paid cash - and when I went to resell it to another caryard as part of purchasing another car years later, we found that it was still encumbered due to the original owner not paying out their loan about 3 years earlier however it turned out that Buckby's had taken the amount still… Read more
owing by the original owner of the price when he traded it in!
Buckbys tried to delay and fob me off but it took threats of reporting them to the motor dealers licensing to get them to fix their mistake. It turns out the 'salesperson' who sold the car to me was in his first week and didn't know what he was doing and no one in the back office picked up that they sold the car again and didn't pay it out.
Fortunately I was able to track down the yard manager and he scrambled to get the car back and pay me the money that the other caryard was offering as a trade in price. I should have stuck him for more as I wasted a day and half trying to sort it out.
I then had a call from the salesperson, who was now working for a real estate agency, complaining that he'd been criticised.
Highly unprofessional and need to train their staff on how to meet their obligations before letting them loose on the public.
