Burke & Wills Discovery 4P Tent

Amazing tent – Bought this tent from Anaconda and are really pleased with it. Convenient to travel around with because its so easy to put up and take down, although the packed weight is about 25kg. It withstood 36°heat, drenching rains and high winds like an absolute champion. I'm realy glad I bought this tent and Suzy, we get it - you don't like yours. please don't bother commenting on my review Show details
Burke & Wills 6 Person tent, very happy! – After having enough of my 4 person dome tent (difficult to erect by myself), purchased the 6 person version (300mm longer and wider), of the Burke & Wills Discover tent, as there was little price difference against the 4 person version. Very easy to erect by one person, once inside push up the frame and it is done. Half fly takes a little longer… Read more
and clips in at rear and goes on the pegs at the front. It will be quicker next time i put it up. Poles and knuckles are all strong aluminium, not plastic as some tents have. Tent is pitch black inside at night. Battery lantern hangs in center above my head height, so plenty of head room. Good ventilation from gusetted windows and roof vents which are protected by the half fly. Verandah provides pirvacy, shade and a nice area to sit that you would not think possible from the photo. Easy and quick to dismantle and stows in the bag easily without stuffing it in. Very comfortable, very happy with my Discovery 6 person Burke & Wills tent. Best tent i have owned!
Great tent but it leaks – Really disappointed that the tent leaked in the rain. I put it up prior to using, for a couple of days, and hosed it down as the rep at Anaconda had told us to "season" it. Unfortunately this did not stop it leaking on it's first camping trip. I noticed leaks in two of the corners but could not tell if the leak was through the base joins or… Read more
seams. When I say leak - I found a pool (approx. 1 cup of water) under my air mattress when I woke up after a rainy night. I had to go and buy a stretcher to get me a dry night's sleep. So disappointing. I tried to find the manufacturer online but couldn't so phone the Anaconda store. They said they would send it back to see if i'd correctly "seasoned" it. It will definitely be going back as i've again put it up at home and hosed it down several times and there's more leaks. This isn't a cheap tent and i've had cheaper tents without leaks in rainy weather.
I have to say though - other than the leak it's a great tent. Easy to erect by one person. This biggest flaw would perhaps be not having a full fly all round as this would give additional protection to the seams and base of the tent.
This however would not help the front entry of the tent which also leaks.
