Rubbish – I bought this 5 in 1 from Kogan last year. It worked for about 5 mins and stopped, never to restart.I reported it to Kogan who, months later, refunded the sale price. OK so far. Fed up with looking at it in the shed and out of interest, I took it to my local repair shop today. No way, Jose. Wouldn't even look at it, no spares, not worth repairing,… Read more

showed me where the bin was. It's a shame that this piece of kit has cruelled Kogan for me, but at least I know I tried everything before ditching it.

Waste of time and money – I only used it as a whipper snipper and hedge trimmer. Each of these attach via a cheaply made pole which becomes degraded after a few months of use and then won't attach. Before that happened the whipper snipper attachment would frequently rotate out of position no matter how tight the screws were fastened. Also, the whipper snipper cutting line… Read more

feeder doesn't work properly and requires frequent disassembly and reassembly. Avoid this useless product, it's a waste of timeand money.

Combo pack – Got this the other day from Kogan. Very easy to assemble. Compact. Light weight and great safety features. Useful for small areas. I only purchased to use between lawn mower man visits but it seems like it will do an ok job. If it was for regular usage I don’t think it would do that well unless you live in a unit.  Show details

Don't even think about buying this machine – What appeared to be a good buy turned out to be everything but. Initially I had trouble starting it and then had to search for retaining bolts etc after they vibrated loose. The motor is 52cc and is difficult to pull start, requiring 2 hands to do so and being creative in how you anchor the machine during starting. The accelerator is very touchy… Read more

and is hard to maintain a constant speed. If and when it over-revs the trim line breaks in no short time.

Being a 52cc motor, which is almost twice the size of most home whipper snippers, and given how hard it is to pull start you would expect that the string (I wouldn't call it rope) that the recoil starter uses is way too light and inevitably it will break, as it did in my case. I was unable get a replacement part so if anything goes amiss you will be unable to as I was. So now I have a 5 in 1 garden tool that is probably only good for a boat anchor.

My advice to anyone who cares to read my advice I would ask you to not even for a moment consider the Certa 5 in 1 and by association any other Certa products if there is a possibility that any of them may require a replacement part.

I love it - Does everything I want - and starts easily! – I've used all of the attachments without any problem. The chain saw, especially is a god send. The unit is a bit heavy, but the engine is powerful, so I can live with that. For what I paid, it's great. The attachments lock into place really easily and have not come loose at all. Just one thing I would like is a better head on the brush cutter so the cord can be fed out more easily.  Show details

worst product bought online . won't start – i couldn't start the first item i bought even after trying a different fuel/oil ratio. returned it to Kogan and they couldn't get it started either so they sent me a replacement. i had the same problem with the second one so i pulled out the pull starter and used a power drill to get the piece of rubbish going i fanally got it started and used it about 3x until my power drill broke. it ended up in the scrap metal bin. waste of money.  Show details

Beware the bargain shopper! – The Certa will 55cc 5 in 1 cutter is a product that whilst appearing to be a good bargain is one which a company such as Kogan would do well to distance itself from. AFter 3 times using it and with reasonable knowledge of what some of the minor irrational are, as such the stop button position, safety guard shifting, the thing that was the biggest… Read more

disappointment is the pull starter kit in which a spring sits will no longer rewind the cord. NAturally with the extremely limited warranty period when contacting the distributor it no longer is their issue. THere is no parts distributor for this machine in Australia. So basically after approximately 4 months and a couple of trips to a reputable mower and small engine repairer it looks like we are now heading off to spend a reasonable sum of money on something else like a Honda or a Stihl. Best tip for Kogan get the better quality products in bulk and still be able to offer the weary consumer reasonable savings.

I actually love it a lot – I really just wanted a wipper snipper and I also wanted a chainsaw so I could trim the pine tree hot the back. This unit always starts easy as and is quite powerful. I have used the whipper snipper and the chainsaw I also used the hedge trimmer. It can be a pain to make the different attachments clip in but I never really had a huge issue. It… Read more

starts easy and I have never really had to change anything other than the oil in the chainsaw

I think it was worth pigs money. I have seen that there are many people who dislike the machine but I cant say I have had the same issues. I guess I just don't expect it to work like a $500 chainsaw, $200 wipper snipper, & $150 hedge trimmer.

Im am pleased with this heaps

Cheap AND Nasty! – Have to agree with others here. This is a difficult machine for holding and starting. The on/off switch is not positive and drifts to OFF position so you are trying to start it with the power off, without knowing it. Then it floods and can't start. I've sent in a warranty claim; but I have to pack up the whole unit and attachments and return it… Read more

- not knowing if they'll try to charge me to repair it. Or how long this will all take as it is via Kogan.

The pull cord handle causes blisters - need to wear a glove just for starting.

The compression is high and makes it even more difficult to pull to start.

Couldn't start it at all this last weekend and hurt myself trying - position and balance all wrong.

Very frustrating.

Got out my old brushcutter and it started straight away even though it hasn't been used for 1 year!

My advice; spend a bit more and get a good product! You get what you pay for.

November 21st 2016 Update: Do Not Buy Any Certa (Or Any?) Product From Kogan - You Will Regret It!

I have previously commented on the very poor quality and usability of this product.

Now it has gotten worse!

After managing to get the thing operational again, the pull cord broke. Kogan could not supply a pull cord. Not in stock (of course)!

Then while trying to work out what cord I needed; to try to source somewhere else, I discover that the recoil assembly needs to be replaced in its entirety.

No doubt a reason why it is so difficult to start the damned thing!

Again, Kogan of no assistance; no parts available. They offered my a $10 voucher !!! Stick it!

They say go to a mower repairer - but sellers/repairers who sell other, known brands don't want to touch these cheap and nasty products and they send you away.

So! Stuck between a rock and a hard place! A $ 150+ product which has barely been used and it is now totally useless!

You get what you pay for they say. And I accept that I was the fool. [name removed] has gotten very very rich on the backs of many of us fools! STAY AWAY FROM KOGAN! Support other retailers who will support their products!

Worst tool ever used, had it returned finally – Petrol leaks from engine when the device is running, which cause heavy smoke. Hard to use and control; Have it returned finally. It is cheap, but not recommend at all.

5 in 1 Frustration Kit – This must be one of the worst products I have purchased and is a five in one frustration kit. Everything is difficult to get to and hard to fit. Pull Chord I have snapped the pull chord on the second time using it and have to strip more off the machine to get to it then I should have to. I need to be an octopus to work on it and don't have… Read more

enough hands.

Balance

The whole balance and centre of gravity on this machine is out. If you have a back problem I suggest you look for a different machine to use, this one is very heavy.

Cheaply priced, cheaply made – It is time to review the Certa 5 in 1 garden tool. Overall on a scale of 1-10 it is a 5. (Sort of) Here is a list of flaws (Engineering and Packaging); - No assembly instructions in box or on internet. - Kill switch is placed where it constantly gets bumped and turns off. I had to hold it in on position to keep it running. (This is awkward… Read more

enough to cause pain in your hand within a minute.) I will have to replace the design with something else just to maintain sanity using it.

- Whipper snipper head is very difficult to reline with new line.

Must have perfect dexterity and even then a third hand would still help.

- The debris guard spins easily out of place.

- The blade attached to debris guard has broken off within 30 minutes of first use. (I will be asking for a replacement, which should get here within 2-4 weeks......)

- The mount for the strap is placed where it can snap the wires feeding to the gas trigger. It has tightening screws on mount but you can tighten them til it breaks without stopping it from spinning freely.

- The gas trigger handle spins easily even with screws completely tightened.

- The support handle came with the wrong nut and bolt hardware so I have to figure out a way to make handle remain stationary during operation. (Super frustrating.)

So between all those things and constantly making sure to hold or not bump the kill switch the device is still usable.

I have used the spinning tri blade, hedger, and whipper device so far. The rectangle blade and chainsaw are yet to surprise me.
