Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Crush Absolu

I do not recommend a blind buy. I did due to lack of access to shops and ordered through Myer. I’m 54 with the following perfumes in my collection to give a nose comparison. Summer I like L’Or de J’adore or Chanel Gabriel or no 5 eau premiere, winter - Chanel Coco, spring and Autumn depending on weather/temp and mood either Chanel No 5 or original Chanel mademoiselle or Chanel Coco EDT.

The Coco mademoiselle crush absolu is unexpected, not bad, not suited to me, but hopefully I can explain the 3 stars. Firstly it does not smell unique or typical for Chanel. I will not go through composition as I don’t believe I have that nose or skill to identify and like all perfumes, the chemistry will vary on skin and by nose for different people.

The first spray - it’s strong - heavy, sweet (I don’t do sweet) and the first thing that came to mind is 80’s Poison - the green box, purple bottle my sister loved and I found repugnant. Happy to say I did not develop a frontal lobe headache like I do with Chanel chance eau tendre. There was a short lived grapefruit note that lasted a few minutes. After about 30 minutes it calms and takes on sweet vanilla and woody notes but lacks depth.

If you like vanilla patchouli, sweet, woods, syrup profile you would probably gravitate towards this fragrance. Definitely try before you buy and wear all day. I don’t loathe the fragrance but will not wear it. To me it’s for younger people, evening, winter. Even after 2 hours I find the smell cloying and it could stand as a flanker for Dior Poison. It screams 80s nightclub, lace socks, acid wash denim and bubble skirts with a side of Madonna!
