Update to love cooking, don't buy review – Four years after purchase: one of the four stove top burners is working properly. eg one of the suspect other three kinda works, but even when set to max burns at min; I don't use it as I worry about gas pressure building up.

Love cooking? DON'T BUY! – My previous very old Chef gas oven was still working perfectly but was so old it was rusting badly. Based on satisfaction with the old one I purchased this model three years ago. It's a piece of crap. The flame goes out for no reason almost every day, might happen a couple of minutes after ignition or an hour, it's unpredictable. The gas flow is strange; it makes odd hissing noises intermittently, enough to make me quite worried about it's safety! Am over 60 and have mainly had gas cooking; I have never seen anything like this before. Always did a lot of slow cooking, this oven makes that no longer possible. Also the lowest flame is much stronger than my old Chef so everything cooks too quickly, I find I must keep adding liquid when sauteing/frying or things burn. A few months after purchase a 30g spice jar fell from a shelf 1m above the open oven door and it shattered (at least they honoured the warrantee & replaced the door). Overall I REALLY wish I had just kept the old one!

Purchased in for $800.

Worst oven ever made, customer service appalling – Bought this oven for my rental after being told how reliable they are. This oven died after 3 years. Customer service want nothing to do with this after 2 years. Note that Australian Consumer Law protects you from this so I have escalated the issue. Oven burner stopped working, stovetop burners stop working, so poorly manufactured, it's ruined the Chef brand reputation. We had a chef for 40 years previously in an old home that still worked perfectly. Very disappointed, had this fixed at 3 years, to have it die 1.5 years later again. So less than 5 years, have replaced with a non-Electrolux brand after appalling customer service, still waiting to see how this will be rectified by Electrolux.

A good value, basic stove with one flaw – The stove represents excellent value, and the oven and cooktop perform well. However, the grill pan becomes extremely hot with use. Provision is made for a handle which was not supplied with the stove. I have ordered one from a parts supplier, and will update this review with our experience using it.

Purchased in at The Good Guys for $598.

As mentioned in my review, I ordered a grill pan handle online from a parts supplier. Electrolux/Chef must have read it, as I was delighted to receive a handle from them. Sadly it arrived one day before the one I ordered (and paid for) so now I have TWO. IF they had contacted me to tell me of their gift, I would have saved $22. The handle makes a significant difference to the grilling experience, making it much more comfortable and safe.
