Lasted the warranty... then you have to stick your head in the oven to light it by hand with a flame lighter – 18 months old, and about to replace it already. They got my $1000 though, so more fool me. At 14 months old, black ignitor pushbutton just shot out accross the floor - little spring lost, small part from the button has a broken internal clip - you have to stick your head in the oven to light it with a 1980s era gas lighter stick now. At 17 months,… Read more

the same happened to the light switch also. Splashback protector is very flimsy. The siver paint on the knobs is flaking off, and looks terrible. Otherwise it works fine...

Very Disappointing – We have only had this new Chef gas oven for one week. After being very happy with at least three previous Chef gas ovens over the last 40 years, this is our first stainless steel one and is a huge disappointment. The cooktop surface, front top edge and control knobs get very hot while the oven is on. This indicates inadequate heat insulation… Read more

around and above the oven and excessive energy being wasted. At a time of global warming awareness, Electrolux should be increasing the energy efficiency of their designs. This product should not even be on the market. We are extremely sorry that we were so loyal to the Chef brand, as we will find it very hard to live with this product.

Nice looking freestanding oven, solid Australian built, very satisfied – Bought this at a very reasonable price for a solid Australian made. I replaced a 23 year old chef brand freestanding oven who had no problem (apart from the ignition not working which is quite normal), just for kitchen cosmetic upgrade. Looks good in the kitchen, does the job well, perfect size for my kitchen. So far so good, I must say the oven door and the cooktop knobs get warm when we use it.  Show details

Goes OK, – A pretty good stove, oven is a good size, easy to clean, shelving is a bit hard to pull out as they stick and grind against the sides of the oven, top burners are good, oven and burners ignite easy and light first time, grill is enclosed in the oven,  Show details

Good solid oven – We have been using this oven for two years. Got this after my custom fit poorly made problematic Kleenmaid stopped working. This is a no frill solid Made in Australia oven which never fails me. The only troublesome bit is that it takes awhile to warm up the oven but the oven heat is uniform and definitely we uniformly heated. I highly recommend this oven!.  Show details

Too bloody hot – Overall use of the oven is good however when using the oven the whole thing heats up terribly The door, sides and control knobs, the whole unit heats up and this can't be safe. Also the timer bell is very faint so I don't use it now and just use my phone alarm. I called Electrolux and they said to use mittens. Pathetic.  Show details

this is the worst stove I have ever owned, and I am 79, so have used a few – When the oven is on, the sides of the stove get very very hot. When the grill is used, you have to leave the oven door open, the heat from the grill comes out and makes the control knobs red hot, they are not going to last long from that heat exposure. I didn't realise when I bought it, that it has open ventilation at the back of the hotplates.… Read more

There is no way to clean this area, and if any thing should spill, will it go down onto the wires?. It might have been one of the cheaper models on offer, but I am very very sorry I bought it.

Major design flaw – Much is made of easy clean features. BE WARNED: what the photos do not show is that there are ventilation slots at the front of the splashback that older models don't have. Customer service standard response "product design is intended to meet both the user needs as well as provide the safety requirements compliant to Australian standard."… Read more

Consider the likely scenario of food particles or liquid falling through the ventilation slots into the receptacle below ...not improbable right?! While much is made of the unit's easy clean features, the receptacle is not accessible at all except to cockroaches who will make a meal of it! I'm not engineer but what about a removable panel over the ventilation shaft and lining the receptacle with enamel coating for easy cleaning. The receptacle is clearly visible and over time the unit will look pretty nasty. But Electrolux are not really interested in customer feedback!

Poor Oven, Poor Service - at least they're consistent – Bought this oven two years ago and on the day it arrived it came with the wrong grill tray, it was from a totally different oven and wouldn't even fit through the door. Got that sorted out and then the timer went bung - not always mind you, just randomly enough to burn cakes and breads because you think the bell has you covered. Bought a $5 timer… Read more

that works better. Then one of the ignition points went. Bought a lighter. Now the big one - the gas in the oven cuts out at random intervals in the middle of roasting. You get ready for dinner, open the oven - it's cold! Start again! Made a warranty call, was quoted a price for the extended warranty, and they sent a service guy out. Couldn't fix it. Sent out a second guy. Assured me he'd fixed it, despite the fact that he did the same service the first guy did. Was told once the warranty runs out even existing problems aren't covered - even though you notified them within the period. Thought I'd better extend the warranty, and was told the price had gone up, despite the fact that they'd already quoted me a firm price (is that even legal?).

I know Chef is a cheap brand, but customer service is customer service, and Electrolux doesn't have any. Won't be buying from them again.

Cheap Product Terrible Service – From day one this, supposedly brand new, Chef Oven was not working. The Oven grill was half way out of it's attachment and drooping down, the gas oven wouldn't stay on unless you kept your finger on the knob. All this is almost liveable - but the terrible after sale service was the worse I've ever seen. I bought an extended 5 year warranty… Read more

and this is what I get: the serviceman doesn't turn up till 4 days later. He says that the gas fitter should have bolted my oven down to my new beautiful flooring in the front and back otherwise my warranty is void!!!! He didn't want to do it himself, even though he was expert in the area - and seriously what type of cheap oven did they make where I have to bolt it to the floor to stop it falling over?!!!! So the service man makes a note in his records so that if their cheap cheap ridiculous oven breaks again - they have a get out clause because their cheap cheap oven isn't bolted down on the floor!!! DO NOT BUY THIS OVEN! OR ANY OF CHEF'S/ELECTROLUX/WESTINGHOUSE PRODUCTS as it's own by the same company who don't care about after sales service.
