  Verified Omoda 5 T34 EX

I bought chery omoda 5 ex 2023 from easy 123 mile end Adelaide last June 2025, second hand , looks great but the problem is I was forever going back and fourth to the mechanic at Peter page Elizabeth since I purchased the car, electrical problem the car kept stopping in the middle of the highway so bloody dangerous so I had the car for nearly 4… Read more

months and I had no choice but to sell it to the car dealers very cheap because for my family safety and I’ve lose thousands and thousands of dollars including $500 new battery because I thought is the battery but something else with electrical, I lose time and stress by owning the Chinese car, very disappointing actually stay away from Chery motors vehicle only good when new I reckon! That’s probably the reason the previous owner had sold it in the beginning ✌️

This is my experience and review of my Chery Omoda 5. Please be very careful before dealing with this company. If you can even get onto them. I’m sure they are great if there is nothing wrong with your vehicle but if there is don’t expect to hear from them unless you chase them up, repeatedly call, email, leave messages and until it becomes a… Read more

serious matter you might get a call if your lucky. I had to contact them via Instagram to get any response at all at one point. Not even phone lines were working.

Unfortunately I have had a negative experience which was so unfortunate as I really like this car from its price point to its aesthetic. The major faults cannot go unnoticed yet the negligence from chery motors Australia has my faith in this company completely wiped! They do not take your safety as a consumer seriously

For piece of mind for people looking to purchase these are my list of major concerns especially the first models released

MAJOR CONCERNS & SYSTEM FAILURES

• System malfunctions during driving – screen goes black, reboots itself, or switches off completely and you are “driving blind” then it switches between old and new systems unexpectedly (once system upgrade was done finally after three attempts at repair) Which was more of a guessing game

• Overactive safety system – pulls the vehicle back to the center of the road vigourously, making it harder to control. Automatic reverse breaking slams on the break when reversing even when not in risk of collision, it’s nearly impossible to not shock you when attempting to reverse especially with oncoming traffic

• Audio system failure including reversing sensors – all sound cuts out, screen goes black

• Multiple failed repair attempts without listening to my recommendations of the issues & data offered to compliment the malfunctions (see images for referance)– vehicle taken in three or more times without permanent resolution & no reports produced for viewing - other then “we think it’s fixed” Also vehicle requested to be grounded up to three weeks at a time

• Ongoing safety risks – car considered a liability due to unpredictable behavior.

• Eroded confidence in vehicle – feeling unsafe and dissatisfied despite warranty coverage which seems to be a bandaid approach • Request for replacement or refund ignored – manufacturer unwilling to provide refund/replacement despite continuing faults& lack of communication until legal proceedings were initiated

BE VERY CAREFUL PLEASE learn from my experience I am just an every day consumer, single mum with dependants and they can’t even keep me safe with a reliable car to drive

The negligence of this company is beyond unacceptable

The Chery Omada is a great car for the price. Brilliant design & comfortable interior. Extremely advanced in tec and good to drive. The lane protecting device which corrects is a nuisance, and the instrument panel difficult to navigate. I traded it for a Haval Jolian that is a better ride, slightly cheaper with worse tec. but at the end of the day, both vehicles, priced under 40K are a 4 from 5. Show details

Luxury at low cost! – This car would have to be the best car I have ever purchased! It has all the bells and whistles of a luxury vehicle without the price tag! It's beautiful to drive and handles so smoothly! With the command using "Hi Chery", she is able to do so many things, make a call, open and close the sunroof, change radio stations, there is so much more that I could write a book about it! If you are looking for a new car, try this one out! I love it! Show details

My Experience with Cherry Omoda – Before buying this car, do not just fall for the specs. I know they are offering way too many features which will grasp your attention but then you have to be realistic on what you are buying you are paying above 30K, in that price you can get any solid car maybe 4-5 years older but that will promise you to stay firm when it comes to maintenance… Read more

and quality

These Chinese cars are very un-reliable ( yes they will offer you warranty for Engine/Transmission) but there is no warranty covered on electrics

I had bought this car in 2023 and literally within a week, i started regretting my decision because randomly EPC lights will turn on, Cruise Control gets disabled literally out of no where because front Radar is very temperamental, extreme air pressure can even cause that to trigger fault codes , this will also disable anticollision system and for that you will need to take your car to service center then they will waste your time on diagnostics and remove fault code because their CHERRY ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE ( RACV) do not have control of their software.

Just to keep in your mind, they wont accept your car straight away so it all depends on whatever date /time they give which is mostly after 3 weeks as per my experience.

Most of the electric components are not covered in their manufacturers warranty so before falling for their warranty offering, you need to be aware of the future circumstances

Pros: - Alot of features - Engine/Transmission Warranty

Cons: - Cheap quality items - Realistic Fuel Mileage is no where close to what they mentioned - Electric faults which can be hazardous - Worst customer service - Worst Lane Keeping module ( Keeps on Jerking your Steering which ll make you feel unsafe) >> Do check youtube videos about it as this issue is with most of the cherry cars - worst resale value ( Private / Trade In)

Value packed Surprise – Purchased our Omoda 5 in July 2024 after looking at small crossovers to replace my wife's trusty Outlander. The Omoda is without a doubt feature packed with options only usually found in name Brand vehicles. The seats are very comfortable with electric adjustments to suit. Steering is very light to inputs and ride is on the soft side. On the… Read more

freeway the radar cruise control is terrific. Power from the 1.5 Turbo and 9 speed CVT is more than suitable and punchy when needed. Safety tech can be a little intrusive with lane keeping and autonomous braking but you get used to it with adjustments through the centre screen. The Sony sound system is fantastic with full connectivity.
