Citroen

Great car let down by Citroen in Australia – I have a 2014 Citroen C5 Exclusive limited edition. Love the car but hate the lack of support and dealers with no knowledge. Most recently I tried to buy a map update for the built-in GPS. It's supposed to be a DIY update process - you buy the map software from a Citroen website, download it along with a Citroen app and a password generated from your VIN, and install it from a USB stick - Not in Australia though - they won't sell it to you. Here you have to make a service booking, lose the car for a day and get charged workshop labour rates for something that you're supposed to be able to do yourself. The GPS menu offers an update process and the owners manual has instructions. Citroen EMEA sells maps (but not for Australia) via their website and confirmed to me that all map updates (Navteq maps) work the same way and suggested I buy one from the Citroen APAC website. Only problem is, there is no APAC website!
In the end I stuck a TOMTOM in front of the built-in screen and am using that instead. Cheaper than the workshop update and a better GPS.
Bottom line is don't buy a Citroen unless you're prepared to spend a lot of time chasing your tail. Citroen Australia and it's tiny dealer network are not helpful.
