As a landlord, don't trust your property to Cobden & Hayson. They let tenants trash the property, ignore issues that need fixing in a property inspection and avoid holding tenants to account. The agent spent 10 minutes at the property doing the… Read more
exit inspection despite paint off walls, etc. They advised 3 times the tenants had cleaned the property and then had to get their own cleaners in the day the new tenants were moving in because I kept telling them the cleaning had not been done. They signed a new Tenancy Agreement committing to a date despite the owner asking them to wait and check the condition of the property first. They returned the bond before all required repairs sorted and without approval from owner. They terminated the management agreement and then stated they would hold the 6 months management fee paid in advance. I had a bad experience 10 years ago with Cobden & Hayson but followed a good agent that joined them. Huge mistake - she has since left. There are systemic issues within the agency that even time hasn't fixed.
Follow-up · Gone from bad to worse. New tenants paid 6 months rent in advance. So after collecting the rent, CH took 6 months management fees and then terminated the management agreement, refusing to refund fees taken when services not provided. Now having ti take issue to Fair Trading
Looked after my property for me – Cobden Hayson Earlwood were amazing at managing my property. In an emergency situation they were able to be my legs on the ground and manage the situation really well. The insurer even commented on how well they looked after my property for me.
Terrible as a tenant no better as a landlord – I have had unfortunately had experience of Cobden & Hayson Balmain as a landlord and a tenant - neither were good. I do note they do seem to get great reviews as a sales agent - most of their average or lower reviews seem to be more renting / management related...says it all.... As a landlord - they were taking their cut and really did very… Read more
little. I had to ask time and time again for inspections to be done, and then change to get any information. When they were finally sent to me weeks and sometimes months later, they were lacking any detail at best and inaccurate at worst. Tenant would raise an issue and got 2 ends of the spectrum - was either advised immediately and given 1 very expensive option or, I was not told at all. The end result - I had to make the hard decision to not renew a lease to get repairs done that would not have been necessary had it actually have been managed. Some issues were over 2 years old and I only found out from the tenant on departure!! Not sure why I wasted my breath trying to escalate to the Head of Property Management (Taylah) - crickets (so instead I will write a review)!!. It was so bad when the place was in a reasonable condition again, I decided to self-manage. While it takes a bit of my time, I at least can ensure the property is looked after and actually be responsive to any issues - having Cobden & Hayson as my property manager was that bad.
As a tenant - again nothing ever got done, or it was all on their terms and their timeline. Funny thing was the urgent stuff was left for days and weeks....the less urgent may get done within 24-28 hours! It was an older property so never expected everything to be 21st century - but hot water, even in summer, would have been nice not to have to shower at the gym for over a week. These were concurrent - so I didn't want to rock the boat until I was at the end of my lease term. It was a shame for my tenant too - had things worked out they may still be there. Don't ask me to make contact now I have written a review - you had your chance when I tried to resolve this privately with you. If escalating to your Head of Property Management doesn’t work (not even an acknowledgement) - then your property management business doesn't work
LOVE THEM! – I have rented two properties with C&H. They looked after me… even when I broke a tenancy as they looked after the owner. I have bought a home in Balmain… sight unseen… as I was living in Fiji and they sold it for a record price and I am still friends with the purchaser. Honest review.
Tenants are second class citizens – My contact at Cobden hayson MN is a bully. She will leave maintenance requests unattended for weeks or months, yet follow up rent within hours. January 3 was my favourite directly after a public holiday. I have never had a call or email from a property manager for any reason but MN seems to have me at the top of her list to send a nasty email to… Read more
every few weeks. I’ve tried to resolve the issue at my end but nothing has worked. I can’t even understand the problem tbh.
I get anxious every time I see a missed call or email and will probably move out of the place At the end of this lease for the sole reason of not having to be spoken to like a second class citizen by MN.
It’s 100% the tone and sentiment, not the requests themselves. This person makes me feel like trash in every interaction and I cannot believe they work in the service industry.
The owner of this business would do well to part ways.
Another bad treatment of tenant – Another example of a real estate agent who treats tenants like garbage - Cobden & Hayson. I have been an A1 tenant, never missed a rent payment even during Covid- did not ask for rent reduction like so many others. Agreed to their month long sale campaign. Even moved quickly despite still having 11 month left of 2 year lease. Unit was immaculate… Read more
during sales campaign, yet when it came to the final inspection (2 weeks later!) [Name Removed] at C&H Lane Cove was very petty. I did everything so they could sell the unit to 1 buyer they had. Had the place spick and span during sales campaign, moved out quickly ony to have [Name Removed] nit pick over small cleaning issues
