It was was reasonably good & still is except for the fact that it only goes to the 31 Dec 2025. At midnight on that date it jumps back to Jan 2008. Wish I could update the system software to a recent version but the only recent edition available is for windows & I want to update the software on Box. Show details

Do not even consider buying this product, Unless you read the books well, you don't realize that your only option for cloud storage is their ridiculously expensive cloud storage alone. The battery life is terrible. At the beginning you'll be lucky to get 6 months from there. It's downhill. Connectivity is rubbish, constantly offline. No way to… Read more

get them back online without having to physically go and manually reset them as if you're going to do that every time when it's so regular. I got these from Aldi cuz Aldi usually has good quality products was bitterly disappointed.

It's not a Cocoon, its a lemon – No wonder Aldi has discontinued the Cocoon security products. The cameras have been a constant source of grief. Wouldn't work with new WiFi & took days & many phone calls to our provider (wasn't their fault) to rectify. After 12 months, the cameras won't charge quickly or even charge, including overnight. The service centre does not return calls… Read more

Worst Product – Worst Customer Service. I have not been able to connect with my phone application when connected to mobile network or any other network. It only works when connected to home network. It's very obvious that I don't need to check camera when I'm at home. I will need to check when I'm away which I can not view as it doesn't connect when connected to… Read more

different network in mobile. I tried multiple of times with help desk but they are not able to help to resolve the issue and directing the issue to Internet provider. I even contacted to internet provides as well but there is nothing wrong from internet provider. The problem is in the cocoon settings which the help desk didn't able to resolve.

Bought the product from Aldi in March 2024. Worst product ever. Spend a lot money in installation and it didn't worked out.

called five times and left messages as requested, but they don't return calls. All I wanted, was to purchase a replacement DVR, but even that doesn't entice a return call out of them. I think I'm done with Cocoon. Problem is, I have a full install of cameras and was wondering if a different DVR would work with them?

Follow-up  · I got my system working again, by purchasing a different set of power packs from JB hifi. The original DVR is working fine again now. The staff at JB knew instantly what the problem was. I still have heard nothing from the Cocoon support people one month later....

Absolutely trash cameras. Take 12hrs to charge, and you'll be lucky to get 2 weeks of life if you have a high traffic area... motion sensor just kills the battery. Sometimes, they just shut off and dont turn on until you manually turn it off and on again. Sometimes I charge them, and they just die and need recharging within a few days. Unreliable… Read more

This System is a slug. Better Software is available from the Zosi Website. The download is slow but better. Cocoon Software is CocooonHD_2-1-1.exe from Zosi it is AVSS.2.2.2.exe and the same software. boot screen of the sofware but cannot find anyone else that uses this software that might have a more up to date version. I dabbled with alternative software like Blue Iris but nothing so far. Thank you for the person from below who gave the heads up about Zosi. This is for Model number CE220633 02/24 8 Channel It keeps recording if the internet goes down but it does not reconnect to the network when it comes back up. Annoying but I attached a google plug power point so it is just hey google turn the power off / turn the power on etc. and it will reboot and recoonect. I installed the Android Zosi app and OMG it is so much better than the Cocoon App. Zosi has been updated and seems to be up to date. Watching Playback is so much easier and the cameras by default are HD and not Low res by defalt like Cocoon. Have not tried the Zosi IOS apps yet.

Purchased Adli Cocoon security camera.Worked for a few weeks then stopped and would not reset. After a lot of messing around I sent the item back to the distributor (not Aldi). After many weeks and many emails, I was sent a new camera. This camera is now working, however the batteries only last three days, so I am forever removing the camera to recharge it. Terrible product, would not recommend. Show details

Waste of hard earned money – Bought 3 sets for $900.00. All 3 DVR's started to beep after a year. Tried all actions as advised by customer service but nothing worked. Aldi should call back the cameras and refund money. Should I take this to one of the news channels?

Continuing camera failure – I reiterate other reviews in giving this product a zero rating. We had a qualified electrician install the Cocoon 8ch 1080P security camera system in 2023, and started experiencing camera dropout after a few months. electrician with same outcome - I.e it worked for a short period and then the cameras started to drop out one by one again. The original tech adviser at Cocoon had left and the new adviser had no records of previous correspondence so we had to start the whole process again. After many emails I have been advised to get power surge protector board despite electrical contractor advising that this is not problem. Costs and frustrations of rectifying this issue for a small community hall are out of proportion and Aldi of no assistance in getting a refund. Will persist but advise anyone to stay well clear of this product.

cheap Chinese spycam designed to upload data to Chinese servers – Bought a few of these. They come in pairs. They take SD cards and will record images in encrypted form on the SD card. The user cannot view the files directly from the app. All data is uploaded to the Chinese servers You must read the privacy and terms of use in the App and you will understand that these are Chinese data collection cams and that… Read more

Chinese laws apply to the data collected and cocoon can use the data as they please including the use of facial recognition algorithms. WITH SD CARD INSTALLED: If WIFI is present it will store files on SD card and upload on the Chinese server. When activated the camera will record many short bursts of video up to 10 seconds long. This means that if someone is at your door for 2 minutes it will record 10+ short videos all in different directories that make it impossible to sequentially order the files without using the app. When activated the camera connects to the server and takes the time that it will imprint on the video, however, most short recordings don't have the correct time but 1970 01 01 because it takes time for the camera to connect to the server. After 10 to 20 seconds the following video files do have the correct time. If the WiFi works it will record the short multiple videos in many separate directories on the SD card and you will be able to view them through the app. They are in an encrypted form (why???) and you need special software to hack the files and see the videos after spending considerable time ordering them in the right sequence. NOTE if the WiFI is off, the camera will record videos when activated, however the user cannot access these videos which are uploaded to the server once the connection is established. the user can only view the videos that are taken when WIFI is working. At times I turned off the cameras only to find that the camera turns itself back on! If you want to really turn them off you MUST remove both batteries. If the WiFi is off, the cam will try to connect to the WiFi for 30 seconds as soon as the battery is inserted. If no WiFi is found it tries again after 5 minutes, then 15 minutes, then every 30 minutes. Every time the camera tries to find the WiFi it turns on the cam for approx 30 seconds and this uses up the SD card space and battery. Remember all the recorded photos and videos recorded when the WiFi is off are not accessible to the user but are uploaded to the Coccon Chinese server. The width angle of the lens is good, however the camera often does not record when it detects movement. There is a long delay. If a burglar turns off power to the WiFi , the camera will not record, making these cameras TOTALLY USELESS for security. Note that the camera records bursts of videos and not one continuous video for the duration of the activation. The app has the possibility to download the video or photos to your phone but it is via a recording of your screen, NOT the file on the SD card

ALDI sells a version of these cameras every year so they are NOT discontinued They should be banned for sale in Australia

Works ok after finding alternative software – This is no more or less difficult to install than other camera systems, however the app that is recommended is awful. After some searching there is another app called "Zosi Smart" that works well. The picture quality is no worse than any other 1080p camera and the price is good.
