Beware on vacating they will steal your deposit – Staff polite and accommodating on sign up. On vacating 2 month tenancy, we were charged with mail forwarding services for 6 months that we did not require and never had any mail delivered to their office. Same for telephone forwarding, again we have a 1300 number and never used their phone system. Cherry on the top they charges us $1840 to repaint the tenancy and Suite, and then a further 440 to clean the tenancy. When this was challenged they advised they have no invoices to provide to justify for cost.I returned to inspect the premise and the tenancy was in the same condition when we first rented it. Not repainted. They only want to steal your deposit. Very poor management and scammers on exit.
Without being rude, facts are the facts. We did not write on the walls and left office exactly as it was provided to us. To scam patrons to improve and repaint to a higher standard than what it was provided to us in is not acceptable and NOT as per your contract. Reputable companies don't do these kind of things. Not to mention the calls and emails to reverse false charges to Compass to even get the refund. Tenants BEWARE. Copies of emails and false charges that were contested are submitted on product review so that they can verify the review before it is published. Shame on you for posting a false response to the facts of what occurred. I did request a copy of the invoice for the "painting" which is yet to be received but it can't be provided because it was never done. I inspected the premise when cards were returned 2 weeks after I vacated and a new occupant was in the premise, guess what walls were not painted and office was exactly as we found it. When my refund is correctly returned I will let this go. Until then j will call you out for what you are scammers !!
Dear Jeff, we completely disagree with your assessment of the situation. The office was indeed painted (on 11/12/2023) after you vacated, despite what you allege. Many thanks, Andrew.
Hi Andrew - i have photos taken on the 1 December 2023 at 10:56am when i returned your access cards and re-inspected the offices. Offices were not repainted. If i could post the pictures i would as photos dont lie. Im still waiting for invoices for the cost of the works (that we both know is false and does not exist) best you return my part deposit not returned and refrain from further lies.
Dear Jeff. I have emailed you a copy of the invoice for painting of your office. I now ask you remove your evidently false review. Many thanks, Andrew.
Crap Services and Crap Management – WARNING: Do not rent from compass offices if you value your business privacy Our company Bat Tech rented an office from them for a year at the Kent Street Compass Office located near Barangaroo, we moved out in November 2020, below are a list of issues with Compass Offices Services, Management & Security. - Reception staff although friendly and nice people don't pay attention enough to their job and we often had issues such as customers would walk past reception and turn up at our office door unannounced. Our business relies on parts deliveries daily and we asked reception to bring us the parcels to our office as soon as they arrived but on a regular basis we would see parcels sitting at reception which had been there for hours.
- Management where told multiple times about other tenants walking up and down the hallway on their mobile phones having loud conversation, management agreed to have reception go up to tenants when this behaviour was happening and ask them to stop, alas this rarely happened . We even had other tenants leaning on our office door having conversation on their mobiles at times. Compass have a useless statement in their policy about hallways not being used in such a way but Compass can't enforce the policy, so what is the point of having a policy.
- During the beginning of the Covid 19 Pandemic we were out of the office for 4 days and during this time an alleged cancelled parcel from a distributor was delivered to our office (Compass Office Cameras showed a parcel being delivered) and we were not aware of any parcel being delivered to our office as we did not see any parcel in our office when we arrived back at work. We were contacted by the distributor weeks later about payment for this parcel and we refused to pay for a cancelled item and that we did not receive the parcel as it was not in our possession.
The below following actions by Compass Offices Management & Staff resulted in our company later on having a legal case against the distributor
1 - Compass gave the distributor camera footage of the alleged parcel being delivered to Compass offices, this camera footage was not legally requested by the distributor but instead the distributor just made a few calls to reception and then Compass Management just handed over the video footage. This clearly shows a lack of regards to Compass Offices customers privacy.
2 - Compass Offices had some video footage of the alleged parcel being delivered which they sent to the distributor but when we requested and even had the police arrived at compass offices to request full camera footage they conveniently did not have the camera footage available any more as it apparently gets over written after 30 days!!!, it never occurred to them to keep a back up of this camera footage.
3 - If the alleged parcel was indeed put in my office then you have to ask who stole it from our office and why Compass offices security is terrible. I often found my office ajar when I came in first thing in the morning which may be down to the cleaner.
I raised all my concerns with Compass Offices management and they were very unhelpful and not willing to admit they had done wrong by providing video footage to a 3rd party without legal being requested to do so.
In conclusion I strongly recommend any company thinking about renting an office from them think again and don't rent from them as they don't care about the working environment of their tenants, security and privacy is not high on their priority list and more so now as the owners of this business are Hong Kong [Irrelevant Content Removed]
Hello Antony, We pride ourselves on providing excellent customer service to our clients. This is evident in how long our business has been around and the great feedback we receive from our clients. This was (and still is) the first time an incident regarding an alleged missing delivery from a client’s office has happened in our Australian business. We are disappointed that our relationship ended as it did, but your description of the matter is demonstrably incorrect and materially lacking in context. As we are very familiar with Bat Tech (Scream IT), allow us to correct your version of events, and provide other key facts.
Your version of the incident regarding an alleged missing delivery is demonstrably incorrect and misleading.
First, on 20 May 2020 when we advised you that we were handing over the video to the supplier, you (a) instructed us in writing to mislead the supplier to say the video was no longer available and (b) did not ask us for any other video of or around the incident, we therefore assumed you did not want further video evidence of the matter .
Second, in your comments, you question whether the item was delivered to your office when you have seen the video of the delivery. You know it was delivered to your office.
Third, you claim that you explicitly instructed reception to deliver parcels directly to your office and would be annoyed if they did not; however, your lawyer, on 02/07/2020, said “The issue my client has in this matter is that your staff accepted the product, and apparently put it in my client’s office”. When the police attended, I personally met with them and they said they were not going to action the matter further after our mention of your requests for us to deceive the other parties in the dispute and the amount of time (circa 4 months later) that had passed since the incident itself.
Regarding your other complaints, your customers would regularly disregard our staff when entering the floor and would proceed directly to your office. We did our best to manage this, but many of your customers were determined to avoid our staff. Regarding noise, you are fully aware our workspace is communal and if we are alerted to client’s disturbing others, we take action to remedy the noise. Further, we are not aware of any security issues such as a pattern of your door being left open and are not aware of you raising this issue during your time with us. As for your comments regarding Hong Kong and China, the implication you make that we might spy on our clients is baseless, obviously false, and actionably defamatory.

Hi Jeff, Thank you for your review and sorry that we didn’t meet your expectations. I have had a look into the points you’ve raised and would like to provide some clarification.
Many of our customers value our 3-month Business Continuity Service (mail forwarding) when they vacate so they don’t miss mail or a delivery. As you didn’t require this, we removed it entirely from your invoice.
In relation to painting, the walls of office 1608, being the larger office your team were in, were heavily marked and required painting and cleaning upon your vacation. We are satisfied that the cost of $420 (plus GST) was fair and reasonable to have the office returned to its original state for the next customer. Office 1607 was cleaned at no charge as there was no damage to the walls. For cost efficiencies and also based on availability of commercial painters, offices get reinstated in batches and the offices indeed were painted. The aforementioned is also clearly set out in the agreement’s terms, in the first sentence of the section entitled ‘When This Agreement Ends’, which you initialed each page of. You also mention that you were charged $1,840 for painting plus $440 for cleaning however I cannot see this.
Lastly, your deposit was returned to you with just the cost of repainting and cleaning of $420 (plus GST) and an unpaid invoice of circa $20 (plus GST) for incidental meeting room charges deducted.
Many thanks, Andrew.
