Have had TWO of this appliance and both broke! – It works great. Sure. However, both times the appliances have died within a month of purchase. Both times, I was in the middle of cooking something and the Contempo Multi Cooker has just stopped working entirely. The first one was a Christmas gift from my husband, died whilst in use. So it was returned and exchanged for a new one. Then, the… Read more

second one died within less than of a month of purchase.

How did Big W get it SO WRONG. Why are your products so poorly made? I won't be buying a new one. I will buying a proper brand name version.

Great multi functional cooker – Corn beef cooked to perfection every time, I always use the slow cook setting. Casseroles, stews ,soups etc perfect with pressure cooking. No hassles and easy to use. I prefer to remove the rubber seal and wash it , then leave it out in the air to dry , this prevents the cooking odours lingering in the cooker. Works everytime.Fantastic cooker at a very affordable price. Show details

Don't know how I have lived without this – Best thing since sliced bread. Pity there was no recipes that came with the product, but I have found some nice ones on the internet. Done a nice beef stew last night and the family LOVED it. It is better then my slow cooker and gives me more time with the kids.  Show details

Love it but it needs better instructions – I got this for Christmas and love it, I have cooked fall off the bone pork ribs in under 30 minutes and a few other dishes although I have only used the manual setting as I’m not sure if the poultry setting is for a whole chook or cubed/cut breast chicken, I don’t even know if that matters?? The same goes for other meat type settings. I have had… Read more

to google cooking times and recipes and follow them instructions as it gives no indication of average times to cook different meats ect....

A rough guide on how to adjust meals from a slow cooker or other types of cooking to a pressure cooker would be great.

Fumbling in the dark – I bought this cooker today from Big W, I would expect at least a basic manual (safety, cleaning etc), but nothing in the box other than the cooker and accessories. No information online other than the few reviews, it seems to be the same model that KMart sell under their 'Homemaker' brand. That said, I bought it initially because I wanted a… Read more

rice cooker with a locking lid - I've had the other type before and seem to be endlessly wiping up starchy water. For the price, this seemed like a good one to go for, with the bonus of being a pressure cooker into the mix that gave me a lot of other options.

I've been doing some web searching and there are some sites out there with recipes. There is a product called 'Instant Pot' which seems to be all the rage in the US at the moment, if you search for this you'll find a lot of recipes that can be used in this Contempo Pressure Cooker. It really just comes down to pressure level + timer.

And if you came here wondering what OH means, I found out (from the K-Mart Homemaker model's manual online) that the screen shows OH when it is in the 'keep warm' mode. "OH! It's keeping warm." :)

I found a recipe online for cooking brown rice. 1 cup rice, 1 & 1/4 cup water, 15 minutes on high pressure then let it sit for 10 mins in keep warm (which it will go to automatically). Then you're done. My rice came out perfectly, no crunchy bits and no excess water to drain. Couldn't be happier!

Fabulous – Visiting my daughter for Christmas and wanted to make a lamb casserole for dinner. I was going to through my leg of lamb and all veggies in a pan on the stove to cook the old fashioned way, when I remembered they had this pressure cooker. Only used it once to cook veggies. Anyway, as their was/is no recipe book I chopped the as much meat off… Read more

the bone (5 large cuts), threw garlic in plus 2 onions, 3 carrots,3 spuds, some mushrooms, approx 650ml of stock and red wine (combined) and hit the auto cook meat option. Was totally unsure about going manual, so it was a long shot and guessing game. Long story short after about 25-30 mins it switched across to keep warm option. It worked a treat, totally impressed with how tender the meat was, the broth flavour was intense, tasted like it had been cooking for two hours. More impressive was that as tender as the meat was, the potatoes and carrots were cooked perfectly. No soggy veggies for us. Intend to get one when I get home, definitely value for money. Easy fitting lid, markers to show locked positions and marker for releasing the steam from the vent. As I didn’t purchase it, but intend to I am going to put this months date of use instead.

Does what it is supposed to and does it well – I don't use a pressure cooker very often but so far when I have used it it has worked well. It is a good replacement for a slow cooker and/or rice cooker as it has those features but also has the pressure cook feature. For sub $80 this is a fantastic bit of kit for the kitchen.  Show details

Awesome – Wonderful. Great value. Cooks beautifully. I will certainly look out for other Contempo products to buy. This product is wonderful and thoroughly reliable. Definitely worth buying. I have made a variety of meal options including Texan pulled pork. The low temperature is great as can leave running all day whilst I am at work.  Show details

Brilliant – Ive just brought one today. Ive never pressure cooked before and didnt believe it was actually cooking. The finished meal was perfect. I wanted something to replace my slow cooker and rice cooker. It has always frustrated me that i couldnt saute in my slow cooker - the flavour of garlic and onions and some meat is heightened by the process. Im so… Read more

Great!!! Cant live without it! – This is a great piece of kitchen cook wear. Its such a cheap addition to your kitchen, and i use mine 3-4 times a week. I bought this one when my much more expensive brand broke, and I like it far better. Its sturdy, easy to clean and holds a good amount for a family. Extremely good value for money!!  Show details

High quality fancy features on a budget price – This unit was bought to replace an expensive Breville Fast Slow Cook that caused me a lot of frustration. I have actually bought 2 pressure cookers because I use them so much. An expensive Philips MultiCooker and this Contempo 5 in 1. In comparing the 3 I actually think the Contempo feels a more solid quality product even though it is not… Read more ·  1

actually heavier. The lid sits nicely and the seal is easy to fit and held in place nicely. It locks into place very effortlessly. The Breville was very hard to get to fit correctly and then hard to lock into place. The Philips isn't quite as easy to throw the lid onto as quickly but also seals well. If you have used a digital pressure cooker before, a quick glance at the instructions is all you need. The instructions are not all that detailed but do the job. There is no cook book included but there are plenty of recipes on line and pre-progammed menus are helpful. There is a manual function that lets you select your own times.

The saute/sear function is wonderful and is hot enough to seal the food but not so hot that oil spits at you (Breville). Unit heats quickly and maintains pressure without any problems. It is so quiet sometimes I wonder if it is working. Food cooks beautifully and the automatic switch to keep warm is effective and does not overcook the food. As a pressure cooker I cannot say enough good things about this model. As a slow cooker I don't know because honestly why would you slow cook something for 8hrs that you can cook so quickly with pressure in 20mins?
