CouplerTec Electronic Rustproofing 4WD Self Fit Kit

I purchased the heavy duty 6 pad kit for my Landcruiser and it has not stopped rust in any way. I was always sceptical but after nearly 10years of use I’m confident in saying it doesn’t stop rust in any way. THIS PRODUCT DOES NOT WORK!! The best rust protection I’ve used is fisholene and lanolin. Oh, and always clean with loads of fresh water. It works if done properly – Have had coupla tec on my Colorado 2015f for 8 years fitted by my mechanic. I 4wd, beach, river etc and NO RUST. You need to know your metals. I am buying another for my hybrid caravan. After reading reviews, it seems that people either don't get it fitted properly or they are using the wrong type of screws or placing it wrong. Show details

a terrible waste of money – please don't bother with this product as it does not work! when you try to tell the company they make every excuse under the sun to cover up their scam. Worked for me – Have used this system on three cars. All are either 1970s or early 80s cars. Best advise is to arrange a professional to fit. I did and have no problems

Absolute Waste of Money – Paid for 6 Pad system and after 3 years nothing but problems and no warranty. After 6 months 1 Pad just fell off . they sell a rubbish product. TJM installed the unit on my new Ranger and they don't want to know about it. Anyone considering buying this product please save your money and look for something else.

working perfectly. I have given CouplerTec another chance to redeem themselves, as there is still 2 years left on the 10 year warranty. Australian Consumer Law states: "What happens if these guarantees are not met? If you sell a customer a product that fails to meet one or more of the consumer guarantees, they are entitled to a remedy either a repair, replacement or refund and compensation for any consequential loss depending on the circumstances."

WE - CouplerTec's customer base - should consider a "A Consumer Class Action" - as they are just plain arrogant and wipe you away as if you are a leper.

Their website states: At Couplertec Electronic Rustproofing, we pride ourselves on the warranty and service we provide to our customers. We guarantee to provide you with quality service and support anywhere in Australia.

It also states: The system is not suitable for the vehicles intended use within an extreme environment* (Refer to CouplerTec.com for applicable system types) -*Extreme environment includes but is not limited to: beach, water, salt water.

BUT - Their advertising shows a Landcruiser ON THE BEACH!!

Doesn't work – I had a 6 pad system fitted to my hj60 through tjm 19months. The vehicle had just had a complete rebuild and paint and was rust free so I wanted to protect it. It doesnt work. There is several small spots of rust forming over the vehicle. Some of the worst ones are where the pads are actually fitted. Paid around $1000 and it does NOTHING. previously maybe 5 years ago and am told if the green light is flashing its working no interest in helping Not on my car it isn't soo so disappointed

Couplertec 4wd rustproofing – Installed this 4 pad couplertec rustproof system on my new 4wd and the installer told me if the green light flashes, tge system is working fine. For any fault red light will flash. In my case now lights are flashing and is dead. Has anyone had this problem before

The screws that hold mine to chassis have rusted – Would have given "NO STARS if it was possible. This device was on the car when I bought it & the car has rust. Even the screws that hold the device to the chassis have rusted. you have one of those. Also, your battery is already doing virtually the same thing that these devices do, just follow your negative battery terminal & it is connected to the chassis. These devices pretty much connect to your vehicle in exactly the same way as your battery does (at a lower amperage of course), Power goes into it on the positive side and an earth connection to the chassis on the negative side. And so does every other device in your vehicle that uses 12volt current, even your ecu, your anti theft device & radio.

Useless. Save your money – I was gullible enough to fit one on my Prado when new in 2008, Now about to go in for major rust removal on the chassis. Do yourself a favour and ask to see some verified independent lab tests etc. to show that it works.. I've Not been able to find any myself. Several other electronic rust prevention devices were exposed as frauds by fair trading in WA, so in my experience this is nothing but a similar useless device.

This system is at best a rust converter and in my opinion ****ing useless.

Forgive the langue but hate throwing hard eared money away .

Would suggest you buy a quality pressure washer instead

Warranty is useless and only applies once its classed as perforation rust.

Despite what they say when I asked why they were not more upfront with customers and showed this transition on there brochures so consumers had all the facts.I was assured this was on there website .

After much searching and opening of all the links I could find ,I can only see nice shinny new cars advertising this device.

At the end of the day its your money spend it on what you want ,I can only give my opinion.

Ive owned 4wds for the last 25 years and have never installed electronic rust proofing on any of them before and would never be installing it again.

Rubbish doesn't live up to their claims – Coupletec say you can use it on older vehicles and it will slow the rate of rust. stripped back and professionally repaired and painted 2 years ago. Tried getting a refund on the unit and they are full of excuses. We have heard of numerous people in the same situation. Will not ever recommend this unit.

Lasted 20 months NO WARRANTY – Lasted 20 months. DIED ... Bought via my mothers partner , serial number shows 2 yr old .. Non transferable 5 year warranty,,, but they would sell me one at a discounted price only $440. BEAT IT. At least replace at a reasonable price...... My car's paintwork is glossy as they said it would remain, and the car does not need to be washed with the frequency that it did prior to the unit being installed!

The Self Fit Kit that I got was easily installed with minimal tools, and the product has never given me a moments grief, unlike topical chemical applications like fisholine which stinks and drips onto concrete floors etc...

Overall, a great investment to those that wish to keep their car(s) in pristine condition - or those with collector cars, that wish to keep them forever & cut down on maintenance also. Very easy installation, works like it said on the box, cuts down exterior cleaning time and protects paint as a bonus! Protects my vehicle from the harsh salty air of the Gold Coast - wheel nuts are even protected... Improves overall appearance of the vehicle in every way! Nothing at all, slight 'ping' noise from electrical internals, however this is good to know that unit is working.
