Crosley Coupe
MPNs: CR6026A-BK and CR6026A-BL2 reviews
OK if you want cheap and cheerful – It looks cool but it plays with too much wow and flutter when . It does have a pitch control on it which is a bonus to get the play at the correct speed. The tiny mono speaker on it sounds awful but connected to external speakers it is a lot better. The crosley Collegiate is a much better player with decent speakers and cart.
Purchased in at eBay for $69.
Great design but poor quality – The idea of a small portable turntable in a retro look school case was very appealing. Ok so it's not totally portable as it still needs 240v but it still looked good. Unfortunately that's where the good news stopped. The cheap plastic inner was a giveaway to this being a designed in the US but made on the cheap in China. For starters, the power adaptor doesn't sit inside the case so you have to vary that around separately.
The sound is poor, borderline terrible from a single inbuilt speaker. That's what the Bluetooth is for, surely to connect to one of the many available Bluetooth speakers on the market.... no!
The Bluetooth is so you can stream to it, not from it. So you can play your iTunes thru the poor single speaker yet can't play the LP playing through good external ones??? Crazy. Well you can plug some into the headphone jack.
Now for the worst part. I'm not sure if it's the balance weight or what the issue is but the variability of the speed of rotation makes a noticable impact on the sound. An obvious issue as the unit has a pitch (speed adjuster) on it. The problem is, either the motor is so weak or the cartridge too heavy that depending on the LP, even the song, the speed changes and it changes a lot, even from song to song.
Totally takes away from any music enjoyment consistently adjusting the pitch.
Sorry, this item's a gimmick. Don't waste your money. Buy a real turntable off gumtree.
