Was great until I needed spare parts – I purchased one of your fabulous MC70LPVM air purifiers, but over the years, the ionizer wires have aged and broken. I am needing to purchase some replacement wires please. (3 or 4 of) Previously I have purchased the pleated filter direct from your spare parts, but now I am being told I need to do through a dealer to purchase spare Ionizer Wires?… Read more ·  1

I find this incredibly frustrating - can you please organize me to purchase direct through Daikin- having to go through a dealer will be incredibly inconvenient and not possible- Why do you sell a product and provide such difficult service to get replacement parts? All i need are 4 replacement ionizer wires for my air purifier.... if this is the case, I will no longer be purchasing your brand anymore as replacement parts from other brands are much easier to source without the difficulty and run around. Such a disappointment when I am expected to go through a dealer but they arent open due to COVID restrictions.. this is just not good enough .... Very disappointed !! Why is it so hard to get these?

Excellent quality does what it says – We have had the Daikin air purifier for just over 6 weeks now and can say that is doers what they say it does - purify the air. We changed the filter couple of days ago and were shocked at how dirty it actually was compared to the new one we were about to put i. We both suffer badly from hay fever and feel this has helped a great deal. It can be placed in a bedroom in the sleep mode and is extremely silent. A great buy. Show details ·  1

3 months in and love it – I clean the basic filters every month and gave it the first full clean after three months. I was shocked at the dirt. I suffer from hayfever with runny nose, sneezing and itchy eyes. I sleep much better at night and don't have issues if I'm in this room with it. Show details

Good balance between performance and cost – UPDATE June 2021 I continue to use the Daikin filter every day for at least 12hours and find it amazing the amount of airborne material it filters and collects. The Daikin unit continues to perform without issue, low cost and ease of sourcing replacement filters was a major decision for me to buy the unit and pleased these reasons have not… Read more

changed. Overall ease of use, quiet operation, low cost of filters and the high standard of filtration prove I made the correct decision, it does make a difference. I recommended the Daikin to family members who have the same model and after purchasing the first unit I have another for elsewhere in the house. All up I fully recommend the Daikin unit, from a repeat customer.

UPDATE June 2019 I's been two years since my review and I can report the Daikin filter has performed flawlessly, I use it every night through the evening turning off only after sleep. If I’m in all day I will turn it on or whenever the house is occupied for a significant time. I’ve cleaned it each year and changed the filters; it captures a lot of air borne material for which I am very glad it performs so well. I purchase replacement filters via ebay at reasonable cost. I will keep this unit using it daily until it stops through wearing it out. There appears to be no direct replacement from Daikin which is a shame. I do see used units occasionally listed on Gumtree and eBay, if this is your route to buy one then be cautious as you would for any second-hand electrical item and make sure it is operating without broken parts paying attention to the ioniser wires and filter components. I might watch out out for a “near new” bargain for myself keeping in storage for when my unit stops. I have only positive experience and comments for the Daikin air filter. =============================== I researched the market in air purifiers for several months before deciding to get the Daikin MC70LPVM. I have used the unit for 6 months every day specifically lounge and bedroom. My needs were more for airborne dust removal as my house is nearing 80 years old I felt there was more dust circulating and settling compared to a more modern home. I normally have good fresh air flow through the house via open doors and windows, closing these at night or when the air-conditioner is on. I have good housekeeping / cleaning habits, I have no allergies, no medical reason for an air purifier other than a desire to clean the air of dust. In my research I worked out purifiers on the market were targeted at two types of customers which determines the technology used in the purifier. (1) Basic - air cleaning function ie: dust and odour removal using simple layering of filters. (2) Allergy - dust, allergen, bacteria, odour removal using HEPA filters. The technology used in the purifier to meet the need of the user determines the purchase and operating cost. What I noticed in most units was a planned obsolescence where the design changes every 2-3 years making the filters unique to specific models. You are forced to buy a new unit with new filters with every model change. This is very common with low cost or “cheap” units. I recommend if you are looking for dust and odour removal, with no diagnosed medical requirements then purifiers using HEPA high grade filters are probably not necessary. You will save significant money in filter pad replacement and a simpler filter/fan/box design when choosing a unit for dust removal. Replacement filters are very expensive for most units on the market; often a new set of filters will exceed the purchase price of the original unit. Compare this practice to ink jet printers, cheap to buy but replacement ink pots are hideously expensive. Check the price and source of replacement filters and their long term availability before buying. If you have medical diagnosed allergies and genuine health concerns that warrant the quality and expense of true “hospital” grade HEPA filters then review those units using these filters. Beware there are various grades of HEPA filter, I suspect unless specified as manufactured to meet a standard most are not high quality. There is cheap, domestic HEPA and there is “hospital grade” HEPA. I found the Daikin unit to be mid-range in purchase cost but with the benefit of filter replacement being very reasonable. The filter design can fit a range of Daikin units; this is promising as it shows the company is more concerned with a quality product and longevity of design that will remain useable for a number of years. The Daikin also uses a system of electrically charged plates to attract dust and particles. Some review this operation as creating a “clinical, dentist like odour”. As I understand this is ozone generated by the unit as a by-product of the charged plates. Yes I can smell the clinical odour but to be honest you would need to hold your face over the outlet flow to smell it at any level to cause concern. Daikin describe ozone in their brochures and state it is at low, non harmful levels. If you look at most new air conditioners produced over recent years they have this function built in. I believe the ozone produced is negligible and does not adversely affect my health, I wouldn't use it if I felt there was a risk. To summarise: The Daikin does an excellent job in dust removal through filter and charged particle design; it has made a very noticeable reduction in the dust level through the house. Noise of operation varies from nothing at the lowest speed to plainly audible but not objectionable at the highest setting. I use it mid way and hardly notice, I have to listen for it. Filter replacement cost is very reasonable, a fraction of the cost of most other manufacturers. After 6 months the filters are holding significant dust, there is no alarm indication to tell me to replace so I will see how long the alarm light takes to tell me it needs replacing. Regardless the filters are doing their job very well. The unit has good light indications to show mode of operation and alarms, filter replacement procedure is simple as is cleaning of the charge plates but you need to take care of fine wires along these plates. Filter pads are available from Daikin retailers, Daikin themselves and overseas through ebay, all at very moderate pricing. Volume of air through the unit is very good, changing the room air every few minutes according to the instructions, I have every reason to believe this judging by the material captured by the filters. The unit design will fit with most décor; it blends into the background after a while. There is a remote control with most functions. For the purpose I purchased the unit dust and odour control the Daikin MC70LPVM is an excellent product, I would and have recommended it to others. As I understand allergy control is best served by high quality HEPA filters, air purifiers using this technology expect to pay over $1000 at a minimum and more, following with regular and high cost filter replacement. I fully recommend the Daikin unit for the purpose I wanted it for and I am sure with cleaner air I am feeling the benefit when sleeping.

Love it! – I am not sure that this MC70LPVM Air Purifier is discontinued, as it is still listed on the Daikin Australian website. Anyway, recently purchased, and so far I love it. Very quiet on the low fan settings, and the automatic sensor function seems very sensitive. The unit is a little bit larger than some other air purifiers, but not too big, and… Read more

is a nice sleek design.

I live in an area that can turn into a bit of a dustbowl in summer, and this unit seems to have enough grunt to cope well.

Initial use - some reviewers noted a strong smell on first use, but I did not have that issue. I let the unit run in a spare room for a couple of days just in case, and all I noticed was a very slight odour that was not unpleasant.

A bit more expensive but as a few spare filters included I think it is a great buy. It's been doing a great job keeping the air clean and fresh in my house.

Exactly what it says on the box – I've had this unit for a few years now and bought 1 for my parents and another one for another bedroom. Below is the pros and cons from the last few years of use- Pro - 1. For its price (went up in market price over the year), it was the most complete air purifier on the market 2. It does what it says on the box. Cleans the air 3. auto is… Read more

super quiet

4. Has replacement filters so self sustaining for the next 5-10 years depending on your environment. With me putting it on 24/7, the filter seems to last around a year.

5. Lights dim for night time sleeping

6. Detects odour quickly

Cons

1. It's a bit bulky but it's designed to do much bigger rooms than a standard bedroom

2. Turbo is loud.

3. Front panel discolours. The front panel seems to be made of a different plastic to the body. Overtime, it discolours - this is away from direct sunlight.

4. needs around a week before the "ozone" smell disappears when new out of the box.

5. Auto is usually too weak to "clean" the air of dust if there is no odour to kick start the fan.

6. No adjustable sensitivity.

PS. Those looking to buy something for their children's room/baby room might like to think about the Sharp air and humidifier unit which I also bought recently.

Feel more healthy and have to clean (dust) so much less! – This product is amazing! I have had one working in my office for some time now and decided to buy one for my home as I have a new baby. When first out of the box the smell is strong ozone smell. If you are sensitive to strong smells I'd advise to run for a day or so in a room where you don't go and keep the door closed. Running the machine on… Read more

night mode also means the unit will operate without the ozone smell which can make is smell a little like a hospital.

Highly recommend this product – It really works and good for people who have sinus and asthma. I bought this product after I read the reviews and it really works as per the reviews. The room's air feel fresh. So I would highly recommend this product to everyone who's looking for an air purifier .

It is so great! – This is a very good purifier! Works very quick and 100% do the job. It is a bit big and gives a smell of a hospital, but this is the only way it can clear the air and kill the germs. It removes dust, germs, smell. It has autodetection mode. So it decides how clean the air is and works hard or slow as a result. Has many settings and replaceable… Read more

filters.

But the feeling I can tell you right away that I feel much better waking up in morning after I turned it on before going to bed.

100% advise for anyone! Ignore the size. Ignore the smell. It is your health! Take care.

I am so disappointed - the air smells awful when i operate it – I was talked into buying one of these yesterday and within hours of setting it up, a horrible odour was in the air. It smelt like a strong hospital disinfectant. Thinking it might be start up and temporary, I waited 5 hours before I called the installer and the company I purchased it from. The odour was awful and far from improving my asthma, it… Read more

I love the concept that it thinks for itself – I bought this unit for the main bedroom which like the rest of the bedrooms was located in the area of the house where there was limited opportunities for a regular healthy air flow and I was not home a great deal. I don't regret purchasing this unit. The dust reduction has been great, the air fresher and the feelgood factor that I haven't… Read more

experienced since the house was new returned. I love the fact that I can set the unit to auto and it thinks for itself and will cheerfully cycle as demands require. Recommended by the Asthma foundation in most countries is a bonus. True the price will shock you but then for a unit that thinks for itself and is virtually maintenance free, you are paying for convenience. I do tend to replace the filter pad every year. I believe that replacement packs for the corrugated filters (pack of 4) ranges from about $55 to nearly $100, a case of buyer beware as to where you purchase. But that said 5 filters come with the unit. I find if I use a chemical at one end of the house, the sensor on the unit picks up on it at the other other end and fires up to filter the air. The added bonus is that during summer you can hit the remote control and the fan creates a breeze. So far their hasn't been a day that I regret purchasing this item. I purchased the unit three years ago.
