UNDER BONNET REVIEW Same as everyone else here. They start out great but degrade very quickly. Had the 2 100Amph in my 200 under the bonnet and in 3years one was at 40 amp capacity and the other 60 amp. Sent all the data to DCS but they wanted me to send the batteries back at my own cost of around $500.00 which was ridiculous. They might be ok… Read more

in rear setups but they cant take the charging and the heat under a bonnet.

Terrible customer service and highly recommend to stay away from them.

knowledge of their products, it is a shame that all the people whom use this companies product don't write a review because the positives would far out way the negatives if all other applications were included. Just Don't – I have been using a DCS 200Ah slimline battery for almost two years, during which time the warranty initially covered a loss of 80% capacity before the terms were deceptivley updated on the website (reduced to 70%), though the date was not changed. Given the high cost of this lithium battery, its performance has fallen short of my expectations for… Read more

a "high-end" product. The Battery Management System (BMS) has proven to be inaccurate, struggling to measure small voltage draws, and there have been noticeable performance losses over time. My Redarc RedVision system, which has proven to be reliable and accurate, has detected these discrepancies.

Additionally, I experienced a complete battery reset under normal usage conditions, such as when I was simply making coffee in the morning—something the battery should easily handle.

Unfortunately, due to these quality issues, I cannot recommend this product.

Awful expierience – I try to support smaller operations where possible but these people are not just selling a bad product, it started a fire in my case. We got it under control but its going to costs thousands to fix the damage. I called to complain and was essentially told to p*ss off when I finally spoke with someone. The phrase "What do you want us to do about… Read more

it?" seemed to be the takeaway. Not an interest to see if there is a potential internal issue with their stuff (it seems there is, at least in my case) What happens if someone is far out from civilization and this happens? It could legitimately kill someone. Stick with a place that has quality control and will at least pretend to be concerned when their product almost kills someone.

Bad quality products – It's just awful. Their batteries does not work as intended and when questioned about it, they ignore me.

DCS deep cycle under bonnet batteries – In October 2023, both of my 130Ah batteries failed after less than two years of use. In November 2023, DCS informed me that replacement batteries wouldn't be available until January 2024. As a result, I had to purchase new AGM batteries to continue using my vehicle. Late January came and went without any communication from DCS. When I called, I… Read more

was told the replacements would be available by mid-February. February arrived with no updates, and another call revealed the new estimate was mid-March. This pattern continued until June.

In June, I was finally offered an alternative option, which I reluctantly accepted. I requested a warranty extension, but DCS refused. Despite the hype and advertising, these batteries have not inspired confidence in their longevity. Additionally, DCS's after-sales service and communication have been disgraceful, leaving me uninformed and frustrated throughout this ordeal.

Explosion – Edit so they sent my battery to be tested didn’t check if the company could test it Picture added this took months to get Some time before the incident, I had an 80Ah DCS Extrem battery professionally installed in the default battery location of my Holden Commodore by a licensed auto electrician. The vehicle had been driven several times without… Read more

issue since the installation.

However, on August 24, 2023, while my son and I were traveling to Murray Bridge to visit a friend, we experienced a terrifying incident. A violent explosion erupted from the rear of our vehicle with such force that it dislodged the sunroof control module from the roof trim. As I glanced in the rearview mirror, I was horrified to see a massive fireball. At the time, we were traveling at 100 km/h. The fear I felt in that moment was overwhelming as I tried to safely bring the vehicle to a stop and ensure my son’s safety.

After managing to stop the car, I quickly exited and rushed to the rear passenger door, which was already engulfed in flames. In the process of rescuing my son, I suffered burns that singed off my eyebrows and some hair, but thankfully, I was able to get him out unharmed. Once we were at a safe distance, I called the Fire Brigade, who arrived within 15 minutes. Unfortunately, by the time they got there, the fire had consumed the rear of the vehicle and much of its interior.

One vivid memory from that day is the sight of the battery shooting cells into the air, floating like fiery parachutes. These burning cells started a fire on the opposite side of the road and even disrupted the water supply for the town of Monarto.

A couple of weeks before the incident, I had contacted DCS about an issue with the battery’s balancing. They assured me it was just a problem with the BMS needing recalibration. After the fire, I reached out to DCS again to report the incident. Instead of addressing my concerns directly, they requested receipts for the audio system installation in my vehicle, attempting to shift the blame. After this, all communication was handled through their lawyer, who instructed me to box up the burnt remains of the battery for examination.

When I tried to ship the battery via TNT, they refused to accept it due to its damaged state. DCS eventually arranged for a courier to collect it from my residence, claiming they would send it for examination. However, after months of being given the runaround, they informed me that the battery had been sent to China for assessment, only to be rejected for testing due to its burnt condition. When I requested the battery be returned, DCS told me I would have to arrange for a courier myself.

It became clear that DCS was more focused on damage control than resolving the issue. They never provided proof or documentation confirming the battery was sent to Shenzen, China, and I doubt it was ever truly examined. To this day, I have not reached a resolution with DCS.

My initial review of this battery led to threats of legal action from DCS when I attempted to share my story. People need to be aware of the potential dangers of using lithium batteries in passenger vehicles.

Horrible Company – Do not engage this company, after having an issue with a battery the service and attitude I received was the worst I’ve experienced.

Worst batteries I’ve ever owned! – I have had a terrible run with all of my DCS battery purchases. My first pair were under bonnet and swelled up terribly, the warranty process was ridiculous but after months of waiting, they cut them open and put them in a new case. I purchased a 200ah 24v battery and it was dead before I even used it, that was replaced under warranty but again it… Read more

was a big inconvenience. I put a pair of 100ah 12v in my boat and with only a handful of cycles, one of them was dead. The pair was sent back to DCS and took almost a couple of months to receive only one back, with the second being void of warranty due to apparent water ingress. My batteries have never been subjected to anything that could cause water ingress so the battery must have had a sealing issue, nonetheless I am now without that battery and the other is useless without it. I found customer service to be as bad as the products Friends and family have also had failed DCS batteries. I will never purchase or recommend any DCS products in the future!

unfortunately did not pass longevity test – Since making my video review DCS has sued me for Defamation and any support to fight this in court would be greatly appreciated https://youtu.be/STcKvMuYdf4 Full disclosure: I have been provided the DCS battery for testing and review purposes, and I created a few videos documenting my testing. quite underwhelming. While they are capable of powering your car, the longevity claims from DCS can be misleading.

I have had three sets of under-bonnet DCS batteries, and here is a brief overview of my experience with each:

The first set (Installed in Nov 2019): Within a year, I noticed a significant decline in capacity, with a loss of nearly 30%. Due to this decline, I decided to remove it from under the bonnet. Both batteries were tested now 4 1/2 years later. One is completely dead and still sits at around 30% capacity loss.

Second set (Installed in Feb 2021): Unfortunately, this set was barely used due to COVID-19 restrictions. However, it had to be replaced by Nov 2021 due to a BMS recall.

Third set (Replaced in July 2023): By this time, I had experienced a loss of 54% capacity in one of the DCS batteries, and around 30% in the other. This significant decline prompted me to switch back to Lead Acid batteries, and I opted for the Energiser EFB.

In conclusion, while DCS batteries can initially deliver satisfactory performance, my experience revealed significant capacity loss over time. I would advise researching alternatives for under-bonnet batteries and considering lead-acid batteries as a more reliable option.

I have since heard of many more verifiable failures.

The [content removed] of the Lithium world – [Content removed]. Having been convinced that these batteries are safe for under bonnet mounting, I did a capacity test to find my 1.8 year old battery with 25 cycles on it is down to 50% capacity. Such a shame and no wonder that they offer a 2 year warranty. Shameful from an Australian company.

Appallingly customer service and products – Beware: customer service is appalling. If you have an issue, you are expected to post the batteries back to them, rendering your car inoperable if you don’t have replacement batteries lying around. I had the Land Cruiser 200 series and one of the batteries failed after 2.5 years. If it happens on a big trip, you are in trouble because you can’t… Read more

readily get a replacement. I’m gonna have to bin the system and go to something reliable. This isn’t the only issues I’ve had with this company. They [content removed] a few YouTubers to do product placement and offer reviews, let’s see if any follow up on the failures and how the company is happy to leave you car inoperable (instead of posting replacement) while you wait for them to REPAIR the batteries. Great system when working but likely to leave u stranded.

DCS Lithium start batterys – Unfortunately i did not have a good run with these battery's, got a set earlier this year(2023) ran for appox 2 weeks in a late model Landcruiser with standard charging system and all of a sudden they would fall into protection mode(wouldn't even turn the car over anymore), on further inspection i found the BMS on 1 or the battery's to be… Read more

generating its own heat around the positive terminal, 50 degrees after being removed from the car for 24H, i contacted DCS, they said bring it down we will replace right away, after being told the battery's were installed wrong, and sending multiple photos of install we got a replacement, fast forward a week and we were left stranded in western Queensland with exactly the same problem, we ended up replacing with a lead acid battery's and the car has been fine ever since 3 months ago, returned battery's for refund, obviously something has changed in there manufacturing process recently to produce such a poor quality battery, expected more from an Australian company.

they function, but how? – I have two DCS Slimeline 200Ah batteries installed in parallel for about a year now. This is about my overall experience and the issues I had since. - sold through online dealer, who delivered after many reminders by himself, no pickup address therefore no close return address in case of warranty issues. - delivered with different firmware… Read more

version, software upgrade was needed, as BMS crashed. - That SW upgrade only possible at owners private address in the Brisbane hills, no car parking. - I do have further problems as my Victron battery monitor calculation crashes short after full charge. It has been offered to return them for a week, to get them tested, but I could not find the spirit to drive there, take them out/in a second time (actually twice this time, carrying a replacement for a week)

Those DCS batteries are promoted on youtube and one actually good reviewer states they are functioning as dual under bonnet setup and people use them also as a single replacement to start and AUX their 4x4.

So over all, be aware, those are produced/imported as a small batch only, there aren’t any close to home shops to service. They appear solid (steel casing/double terminal, have an app that works) but if you have a problem, you will have to ship them to your own expense.
