Dewalt DCD795-XE

Bought on past DeWalt good quality BUT.....! – Bought the drill March 2021, it had developed a horrible crashing sound when the trigger is released, now December 2022 it will not select high speed range, despite registering the product when bought, DeWalt customer services don't want to know me because I don't have proof of purchase, after a load of searching I found the receipt This was originally a critical review but after a bit of phoning etc., I have my CDC795 supposedly repaired at no cost to myself even the shipping costs were covered under the warranty but I don't think it is repaired correctly. I was disappointed that after 18 months of light use my drill broke down. It was identified by the approved repairer as a simple gear selector failure, it is now working but still has the original problem which I believe caused the selector to fail so I expect it to fail again. I think my brief association with DeWalt may be at an end. .

a decent drill for the money – I work home construction and have tried this drill for about 3 months. So far the tool has held up well and nothing has broken. My only complaint is that the grip pinches my pinky and the vibration is more than my old drill.

Tradesman dream – I have being using this drill for quite a while now. It has never let me down and is great because it comes with 2 batteries. It is of very good quality and comes with a good carry case

Bad Chuck – Purchased this DCD795-XE Brushless drill kit 2 weeks ago, with 2 x 4AH batteries, charger and case. Initial impressions were good, well weighted and nicely balanced for a mid sized/compact drill, led light shining from base is better than lighting from behind the chuck so that it actually illuminates the point of contact, strong magnetic bit holder above the battery will come in handy.

On first use drilling a 3.2mm hole for pop rivet, there was severe chuck WOBBLE, I could not believe it, at first I thought it was a bent drill bit, but no, the bit tested perfect on another drill.

Tool was returned to the retailer, they wouldn't exchange it, but put it in for servicing with Stanley Black & Decker, got it back in 3 days with a replacement chuck, it is now better but still has some wobble.

Over the years I have purchased more than 10 corded and cordless drills and none have had chuck wobble, A previous purchase of an entry level DeWalt drill was a positive experience, so I am very disappointed with the DCD795 drill, this is supposedly a professional, trade grade tool that is priced accordingly. Could not recommend it. I believe this model has now been superceded by the DCD796, good luck DeWalt.

Worked well until it didn't ! – Had this drill for around 6 months. Used for home DIY. Drilling holes in walls for shelving. Putting in screws. Pretty much routine jobs. Recently the gear selector seized. Tried penetration oil but didn't work. Had to use a bench clamp to exert enough force to shift the gears . I.E. Drill to Hammer. No other issues as yet but annoying none the less!
