My portable air conditioner is suddenly displaying the temperature in fahrenheit, how do I get it back to Celcius ?.

Dimplex   DM

Good morning, Tony Thank you for your enquiry. Please try the following - To change the temperature display from Fahrenheit (°F) to Celsius (°C) on a Dimplex GDC10RCWB portable air conditioner, use the following method on the remote control: Toggle Method: Press and hold the Up (+) and Down (-) buttons simultaneously for approximately 3 seconds. Alternative Method: On some similar Dimplex/Gree models, pressing the Mode and Down (-) buttons at the same time while the unit is off can also toggle the unit. The display should switch to Celsius, allowing you to set the temperature between 17°C and 30°C. NOTE: The control panel is capable of displaying the temperature in either degrees Fahrenheit or degrees Celsius. To convert from one to the other, press and hold the Up and Down buttons at the same time for 3 seconds. you can find this information on our website as well as other useful information and manuals external link  Kind regards Sharron

How do I remove the exhaust tube from the rear air outlet.

Sorry Tom, I sold this about 4 years ago and can't quite remember what to do. As far as I can think, it simply pulled off or unscrewed as the hose is convoluted. It can't be that difficult to do!

Hi Tom, thank you for reaching out to us. You should be able to rotate it anti-clock wise and unattached it. Thanks

Hello, our machines comes up with a E3 error. I don't have a manual. Can you please help with resolving this problem. Regards Gayle

Hi Gayle, thank you for your question and I'm sorry to hear of this. The E3 error is related to an issue with the refrigerant. Here is a link to the manual: https://cdn.productreview.com.au/document/thread-message/1eba1508-a80a-57f6-8eaf-87452a59f088 Thanks

Hi Gayle, Sorry, I sold the dimplex a long time ago, but I never had that error code coming up. You can find out by going online and seeking the instruction book.!

Can I get a refund or replacement

Sam James
Sam James

Hi Stephanie. Getting a refund depends on many consumer laws. If the product is not working as you thought it would and is defective then you can return it to the store if your product is less than a year old. That is the usual warranty. Suppliers usually give a few extra weeks on top of that. Not knowing what the issue is that prompts your question I would suggest first thoroughly check the instructions. These are usually very reliable machines so I hope that will help. Regards Sam

Hi Stephanie, Thank you for reaching out to Dimplex, Please contact our customer care team on 1800 444 357 with the model number of your unit and they will be able to assist you further. Alternatively you can email us at customer.care.ha@glendimplex.com.au

Hi Stephanie, Sam has already given you the outline of consumer law but additionally there is a 2 year Australian warranty if the product is faulty. Your first point of contact is Dimplex and I see they have already reached out to you so contact them to see what can be worked out. Mine is a few years old now and apart from the unit not cooling an entire room down if you use it as a personal cooler they work really well. I have had no problems with it even after a 6 month winter hibernation it starts and runs immediately on power up.

My dimplex is icing up behind the filters and blowing out cold air when I have it on heating. Was working fine yesterday. Any ideas?

Sam James
Sam James

Hi Julie - it sounds like a switch problem. The connections to the switch (hot/cold) on the machine may be loose. I would try turning everything off and start again. When the machine is not connected try wiggling the switch back and forward between settings. I always work on the principle that any fault is usually a minor issue. If all those suggestions don't work perhaps contact the Dimplex website and ask them for ideas. I also use Whirlpool.com for any tech suggestions. Good luck. Cheers Sam

Turned it off for a few hours and it's working fine again. I have a dimplex dc10rc/ dc12rcbw. Where's the hot / cold switch just in case it happens again.

Hi Julie, Apologies for delay but where I am wifi is just a figment of imagination. It sounds like your operating system went on holidays so generally it's just a matter of switching it off at the mains for a couple of minutes so it can reset itself. You obviously worked that out. Normal operation is when switching the unit on and lighting the control panel the top left button is cooling and the exhaust tube is on the right. The second button is heating and the exhaust tube is put on the left, The third is dehumidifying and requires a separate pipe coming from the centre of the unit wheras the usual water emptying is at the bottom. Hope that help

I have a dimplex machine and its blowing cold air out of pipe. It's not blowing colder air out, is something wrong? Filters, etc. been thoroughly cleaned.

Jim17
Jim17

Hi Sara, The only times I think this may happen is when; 1. The unit is configured in heating mode. You need to change the exhaust tube back to cooling mode. 2. The thermostat has turned off the compressor as the temperature selected has been reached and only the fan is working.

3. The compressor has crashed and the telltale sign is no noise and no cold air coming out of the grille end.

Thats about all I can think off, I hope it helps.

I agree with Jim. Turn the machine off -leave for 5 minutes and restart in cooling mode. You do not say what mode your machine is in. They seem reliable machines so it would be unlikely there is a serious problem. The exhaust outlet -(out of the pipe through the window) should be warm when on cooling mode and cool when on heating mode.

I do not have the instructions, so my question is do you have to fit a hose to the small tube where the condensation water comes out or do you plug it? Not sure what to do.

Dimplex
Dimplex   DM

Hi there When being used in cooling mode the drain outlet should ALWAYS have the plug fitted. Only if you are running in either heating or dehumidify functions should you fit a drain hose to the unit.

Hope this helps but should you have any further queries or concerns, or to obtain a copy of the Owners Manual relevant to this model, please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Care team by phone: 1300 556 816.

Sam James
Sam James

The condensed water that comes out is normally blown out of the exhaust air so the plug stays shut. There is an alarm that sounds if the water builds up too much. Only then does it need to be drained. So keep the cap on. Cheers Sam

Hello, There are two plug holes, one in the centre of the unit and one below this at the left on the skirt. The top hole is plugged until you want to run the unit on dehumidifying mode (the lower mode on the console) and then you need to run a tube to outside or a bucket. Every time I do this I flood the carpet from water that somehow collects underneath so I don't use this mode anymore so leave it plugged all the time. The bottom plug hole is where water collects in a receptacle behind it and is either manually drained by removing the plug and letting it drain into a small basin or such,( a black plastic container came with the unit) or partly used by the unit in it's cooling cycle. I check this frequently for if it fills then the machine switches off which is inconvenient if it's during the night. The amount of water collected here depends on the humidity, Top end would be a daily check wheras Tassi would be weekly or fortnightly. If you move the unit with this full then water will go all over the floor so it pays to check it frequently and that the plug is secure as it's just a push fit.

In addition to the cooling cycle it has a heating cycle which is the central light on the left of the console. You will need to reverse the exhaust tube and opposite grille for this to function They are pulled up and taken off then switched around. It's not a very effective way of heating even in my caravan.

The other thing you need to do is clean the two filters which are one above the other on the other side away from the plug holes. They are simply jiggled and pulled straight out, one left and the other right, They are put on a flat surface and cleaned with a small nail brush, be careful they are only delicate plastic.

Apart from that happy cooling but don't get too excited about that.

Regards

Jim

Thankyou for the answers to my query re the operation of the Dimplex aircon. It has been helpful & informative. We now have it cooling effectively & without 'flooding' the carpet because the outlet was not plugged. Mother Mary

Hi,

Trying to get mine to work on heat mode. Blowing warm air out one end and ice cold out the other! Help?

Jim17
Jim17

Hi, I presume you do not have an instruction book so I will go through it as simply as I am able. Stand on the side of the unit that has the filter pads, the black plastic louvre grille is on your right and the black plastic extractor tube surround is on your left. Both of these plastic items are removable by grasping them firmly at the top and pulling forward. Reverse them so the extractor tube is now on your right etc. You are now in a position to extract the cold air to outside. Press the power button and from the function button select the central illuminated icon, (the top is AC and the bottom is dehumidify). Then select fan speed and you are set up. Good luck.

I know the manual says not use use extension cord what about a power board with nothing else plugged into it ?

elaine1966
elaine1966

I think the priority is to be sure not to overload the powerpoint at the wall. My personal practice with these things is to use either an extension cord, or as you suggest a powerboard with nothing else plugged in. Just be sure that it is in excellent condition and has a reset button. All the powerboards in my house have these for safety.

Jill2044

I have just purchased a GDC 10RCWB, and Iknow the manual says to not use an extension cord, but to have the hose out the window, and plug it in at the same time, I really need a short extension cord. I s there a problem with this, or is it an absolute no no?

elaine1966
elaine1966

Hi Jill2044, Using an extension cord should be okay, but just plug the extension cord directly into the powerpoint at the wall and not into a mulit-point powerboard. The Dimplex uses a fair amount of power and could overload a powerboard that has other appliances plugged in to it as well. So that's why I'd say plug the single extension cord into the powerpoint at the wall, and then plug the Dimplex into the extension cord. That should be fine.

JustyTiger

If you are truly worried, i would recommend getting a sparky to replace the original cord with a longer one suited to it's location. It's the safest way and will prevent a 'trip' hazard or any other issue in the future.

Hi Max, Have you done the usual things like switch it off at power source then back on again. Or turn the temp to fully up then switch on, switch off, then turn to fully down then switch on. Clean the filters and grilles with a vacuum cleaner. If you have then it could be the thermostat or something you have already seized upon. I find normally it's just a simple thing. Hope that helps.
