Dirt Devil Free Time

It does work on low pile carpet – I use it for the all surfaces of the house. It handles the lino brilliantly, and as we have short pile carpet it works very well here. I did notice because of the extra drag the charge does not last as long.....but hey...just set and walk away, but be warned, watch where you step for it goes everywhere....... II we use it at night it is only in a… Read more
room we can cordon off (just in case we step on while half asleep....such a good price I bought extra for my kids and they are happy as well) ....it must be noted it is 1st a sweeper, and the then a vacuum, so don't expect the world in the latter form.....but it is amazing on what it picks up, for the bin gets filled very quickly (depending tho, on how often you clean the floors.)
OK for the price – First of all ...I got this under $50. With that in mind, it does a pretty decent job cleaning hard and EVEN surfaces. I stress on the word even as it will get stuck in almost any elevation (mats, diff flooring height) So be sure to remove all rugs and mats prior to setting DD free. Holds charge for approx 30mins (isnt too bad if ure only looking… Read more
for a light clean). Pretty noisy (u will hear it working)
You'll be surprised with it's cleaning capabilities. Keep in mind that we're paying $50 vs $800.
Hair today gone tomorrow – Our home has three long haired females, a dog, and is hard floored throughout. Hair is an issue but the dirt devil (ours is named DUSTY ) has provided the remedy to that problem. Dont think your floors will be perfectly cleaned because they wont be, anything heavier than the weight of an atomic nucleus will be left in full view as the dirt devil,s… Read more
vacuum system fails to pick it up but that doesnt matter, why? because any hairs that its rotating brushes come into contact with immediately dissapear under its round red belly. No they havent gone into the dust collection compartment as the annoying woman on the I roomba ad will have you believe, instead theyre all tangled around the brushes ...and thats fine with me because its sooo easy to remove the brushes and then the hairs and that sums up this whole little unit....emptying it , untangling the hairs, re-setting it- everything is easy. The dust that collects under furniture gets gobbled up and when we walk around our home in bare feet we no longer end up with feet that would do a hobbitt proud.Sure we still have to pull the vacuum and steam mop out once a week but its so much quicker as the floors arent so dirty. We wanted something to keep the floors hair and dust free between vacuums, that was easy to use and cost effective. The Dust devil happily meets all our requirements .Highly recommend it.
It matters how you want to use this or anyother Robotic unit – Comparing battery charge time to the use time this unit is hopeless. If you need to use it for smaller sections at a time it would be fine. Just set up barriers in one area and use it charge again and then go to the next is the best way to use it. For what it is worth for a full time mum it will free up some time but can not be relied on to get… Read more
the whole house done in one day. It is probably quicker to use a wide sweeper and collect dirt and scoop it into the bin. I purchased it from Bunnings and cost the benefit analysis is not that good. It can be a bit noisy but one can get used to it as it doesn't run for all that long say 50 mins and then you have peace for few hours till the unit charges.
If you want things done quicker then use your vacuum and you can finish the entire hard floor and carpet area in the same time this unit will do a small room + the vacuum cleaner does clean a lot more than this sweeper.
In all this unit is ideal for small open planned units where you have one bedroom with carpet and the door closed.
If you need a bigger house done then consider the dearer units which will self charge when it is needed.
This unit has made me realize that being lazy is not going to help. I think I am better off using the wide manual sweeper once a day to collect dirt which will take me 5 mins tops for a 15 squares hard floor and vacuum the carpet rooms which is 3 squares which will take about 20 - 30 mins. vacuum the floors once a week and a steam mop to finish the Job.
Great & Cheap product to sweep your floors! – I was a bit wary about purchasing a cheap robotic floor sweeper, but would rather spend $49 and be disappointed rather than $100+. Bought the Dirt Devil from Bunnings and to say my partner and I were impressed was far from it. After watching it go around for 30 mins on one charge (being followed by my inquisitive indoor cat) I was surprised by… Read more
how much it actually swept up! It does not do carpets, but it did roll over my cow hide rug and did not damage it and swept up some unsuspecting cat fur! It is not too noisy - it is about as noisy as our Bosch dishwasher - bumping into walls does not seem to do any damage and makes it under my camphor chest and Bali cabinet. Don't try and figure out what pattern it is doing as I think it is totally random. Didn't get stuck but decided our dining table required 3 rotations around before it went off in another direction. If you want one that does carpets, this is not the sweeper for you, but if you have tiles/hard floors and want something to run around for you in-between proper vacuuming then $49 is GREAT VALUE. Also, has an easy to empty container and I just use a sticky roller on the filter material. Yet to look into buying replacement parts, but I am sure I might need new brushes if my cat keeps thinking they are huge spiders! ;)
Does a good job for the price – If you're expecting a similar performance to the $600 robot vacuums, I'd imagine you'd be disappointed. However, as a hardfloor sweeper, I find this works quite well. It picks up lots of pet hair, dust, dirt and other items off the floor without a hassle. I couldn't justify spending $600 on something like this, but for this price ($49.95 on… Read more
special, otherwise around $70), it's well worth it. The only negative I found was that the cost of replacement filters & brushes is pretty exy. It cost me the same amount to buy replacement filters and brushes as it would cost to buy a whole new unit on special at $49.95 at Bunnings! Seems a bit silly.
Noisy, few features but look at the price (and it works) – We got this on special at Bunnings $49.95 - how could we resist? My uncle swears by the $600 models (he's been through a couple) but we weren't ready to spend that much. We have a cat and a tiled main area with doorway rugs. It seems to go over and off the rugs without a problem. Haven't tried it in the carpetted bedrooms yet. On the day we got it… Read more
I had already vacuumed because it takes 4 hrs to charge, however late at night we just had to break it out to see how it worked. It still managed to find about 2 cups of fluff, hair and dirt. It is noisy though. I'd rate it about a low setting on a hairdryer or egg beater. It certainly interrupts conversation or tv. We forgot to time it but it went over an hour. It does constantly bang into things - the way it detects an object seemed to be a pressure bar at the front. It has rubber padding but the whacks are still pretty audible. This can get fairly annoying. Process-wise, it seems pretty abstract. We have no idea where it is going and why. For example it came out of the hallway and about five minutes later went back in there after doing a random spot in the lounge. I've dropped stuff in front of it - hair, crumbs, cat hair wads. Picks it all up so far. Will like to see how it wears as there is only 1 yr guarantee. I am glad, as there was some doubt when we got it that it was going to be a dud. It works, the price, starter model when you aren't sure what you might want from a robot vacuum Noisy, not sure if it has a pattern and is cleaning entire floor area or not. Short warantee.
Terrible, don't waste your money – Doesn't clean, just rolls over dirt /dust / fluff / pet hair. Had to vacuum immediately afterwards as I had people coming over, it didn't even do a light vacuum. gets stuck in corners. I was hoping for a cheap solution but sometimes you get what you pay for, it's really not worth trying. I will now go for something like the LG, samsung or roomba robot vacuums, after a little more research. It's red Doesn't do what it's designed to do
Exorbitant Filters – This does a very good job on hard floors, although the navigation around a room is totally random and you have to point it in the direction you want it to go if you don't want to waste a lot of time. For the price it's hard to do any better. Where you can cover the front of the filter with a piece of cellophane and get the hair to go to the… Read more · 1

Only disadvatage is, a new filter is $16 and postage is $15. I wish Bunnings stock the filters as well for about $5 which is a fair value when you consider robot-cleaner is only $80. does a good job on hard floors replacement filters are a rip-off
Super Cleaning Robot – Bought my first robot from Bunnings for $79 after reading the reviews here as unable to justify the cost of getting an iRobot. Not too confident of results initially and was expecting a toy for the toddler to chase around. First impression was the robot looked reasonably good quality and durable. And the surprise is that this robot can really… Read more
clean my hard floors even better than me!!! It does not do a perfect job, but neither do I. My floors have never looked so clean. It works the best on wooden floorboards, but also does a good job on my black lino floors. Best results are obtained by zoning - cleaning one room at a time by shutting the door so robot does not wander off aimlessly. Noise level is ok, and very easy to empty the dust bin. It does take 4 hours to recharge and runs for 50 minutes. It does not have a dock to return home too and self recharge, but that is not a major issue for the price I paid. It pays off itself for less than four hours with a cleaning lady. Please note that this is a robot sweeper, not a vacuum so do not buy if you have carpets. Wished I bought this robot years ago and not have to put up with dusty floors for so long! Cleans my hard floors better than me. Affordable.
Very efficient – The first time I turned used this I went back into our bedroom 10 minutes later only to see it wasn't picking anything up..... I was very disappointed..... Until I realised that in just 10 minutes it had already sucked up so much dust from under our king-size-and-too-heavy-to-vacumm-under bed!! Wow! For $80 this vacuum is an awesome little… Read more · 2
time saver!
I love that the brushes sweep dust into the vacuuming chamber.
It's fairly quiet.
Really easy to use.
Scoops up lots of dust and dog hair!
My only concern is that it does tend to clog easily. I run it for 20 minutes in each bedroom, but usually scoop any clogged up bits out of the vacuum hole before putting it in the next room. Cheap, easy, works really well. Clogs easily, but not a huge issue.
Love Love Love – I have tiled and wooden floors throughout and a dog and cat that shed hair constantly. This little wonder picks up all the animal hair, dust and crumbs, it even picks up scattered kitty litter. Cleans quietly, goes around furniture and under the bed and doesn't fall down the stairs. Great value for money. everything!
Excellent Value for Money!! – Love this little machine, its basic, quiet & does the job. Really picks up dirt well off hard flooring. We have timber flooring throught & this leaves it spotless. It even gets under the couches (where the normal vacuum head doesn't fit) & the bristles clean every little bit down the edges of my hall & under my dining chairs. I love it! I'm going… Read more
to buy a second for the other end of the house! Cleans in hard to reach places! 4hr battery re-charge.
Such a helpful cleaner that I have given her a name! – This is an affordable robot that works well. Easy to understand, work and empty. It never disappoints but it does amaze me with the amount of dirt, dust, sand and hairs that it always finds. It does well under beds and furniture. It is not noisy and the battery does last 50 minutes! Works tirelessly without complaint while I get on with other things or have a coffee! Nothing
