DX 103 washes well, but a (deliberate[?]) door handle design fault is attrocious! – I've had this dishwasher for about 12 years. I bought it new. It washes well (great). After 12 years of use I've just changed the door side seal and, the door bottom seal. The seal kit cost me $35.00 AUD on EBay and the job took less than 10 minutes. So, in terms of seal replacement, it's good. The BIG problem with this model is the way the… Read more

"built in" door handle breaks. I've have a number of friends who have experienced this problem. The plastic handle cracks off easily at the "pull point". This is such a shocking engineering fault that I suspect either the company's design engineers are incompetent or, they've deliberately built into the front door a "Planned Obsolescence" of such magnitude that it beggars belief.

Basically, you are forced to replace the ENTIRE door handle panel when the small door handle part (inevitably) breaks. (See video showing my broken handle on the DX 103).

WOBBLY WHEELS – Have been happy with dishwasher but the bottom basket wheels don't stay on the runners, I actually have to lift the whole basket into the washer. Now they are all breaking. If I purchase new wheels it looks like they are the same nightmare. The unit still looks and operates like new except for the wheels Show details

Worst dishwasher I have ever owned – I have lived in a number of places and used different brands of dishwasher, this is by far the worst. The handle has snapped off, the arms block with food and there is no way to clean them apart from using a toothpick as recommended by Dishlex!!?? The bottom tray gets snagged on the rubber of the door causing it to come off the tracks all the… Read more

time, which means you have to lift a full tray to get it over the rubber seal and back on the tracks. The dishes don’t come clean and often the tablet is either still in the tray or not completely dissolved, have tried multiple different tablets and it didn’t make a difference.

Given up on this product and have purchased a Westinghouse. Save your time and money and get anything other than this.

Dodgy handle – My dishlex dx 103 handle has broken after warranty many times. I have used strong glue to repair but still eventually breaks again. Terribly designed handle, puts too much pressure at a thin area when opening. Should never be made as a complete panel mould with handle included. Handle section should be seperate, so could cheaply replace new… Read more

handle, as is a cheap dishwasher and shouldn't have to buy full panel just to replace handle. Never buy a dishwasher with handle design like this again.

Works fine – I've had this for 2 years now & works well without a single problem. Considering Dishlex is supposed to be known for being very quiet, it can seem a little loud at times but not terrible. A good clean of the dishwasher itself seems to do well for the machine. Can also highly recommend Appliances Online where we boaght it from.

After years of building dishwashers, how could they make one so bad? – This dishwasher is noisy. The wheels on the lower dish cage have broken. The washing arms block with food debris and even the product instruction manual states food blocking the washing arms should be removed with a toothpick! I wonder if anyone at Dishlex has actually ever tried doing this. The front opening handle has snapped off. The lower washer arm snags on the bottom of the dish cage. Buy a Bosch or do the dishes by hand. Never again.

Ordinary product – Worked well for about 3 years. Then the door kept popping open during the cycle causing it to shut off.I had to squeeze two small wooden wedges in the door to keep it shut and complete the cycle. Very annoying. The lower basket began to fall to pieces and was just too flimsy to do the job. After struggling with it for a few more years It just stopped working. Glad to get rid of it. Replaced it with a Bosch, all round a much sturdier product. Show details

Useless machine – Bought a home recently with this dishwasher installed by the builder. Not quite 5 years old and it is not doing the job meant to be doing. Not taking the soup properly. I tried two different brand of tablets and after the cycle, table still be in dispenser, wasting the water and power whole time. Try to contact builders as well as customer care of Electrolux. Broken handle – Machine works fine, doses are always rinsed before washing. The only problem we have is that the handle has broken off making it quite difficult to open the door. I have put up with it for a while but note that others have had the same problem. Is there anyway of getting another handle?  Show details

Cut your losses and replace it – Bought a new home in 2013 with this dishwasher installed by the builder. Not quite 5 years old and it died suddenly. No lights, won’t switch on. blown and it’s not worth repairing. So we have to cut our losses and purchase a new one plus pay a service call. Lesson learnt. Do not buy an Electrolux Dishlex, it will let you down and too expensive to repair. We’re getting a Bosch to replace it.

Really BAD experience – SO DISAPPOINTED - we took the extra warranty out on this machine and in it's life it's had 3 motherboards replaced and other issues as well. Finish light not working – We have just bought a house (2 yrs old). Dishlex DX103SK dishwasher came with purchase. Broken handle FIXED! Not a great wash – Not sure how old mine is, as it was here when I moved in. Anyway, surely the handle could be better quality, or designed so that it is not a major replacement part and cost. I suppose the heat affected the plastic. Wash was OK on pots and pans settings, mediocre on other settings. Interior looks fine. I've always loved Dishlex, might buy another. … Read more

UPDATE: In order to save the planet and not throw out a perfectly good dishwasher, I decided to buy control panel cover part off Ebay for $100. Took old part off first to check I could do it, then ordered. To take it off, first, unplug dishwasher, socket might be in a nearby cupboard. Then remove 4 small screws along top inside of door, then 1 on each side. (Not the two larger screws on top holding in the door mechanism.) You will see the white control panel. Remove any screws holding it in, mine had one small screw at top, and one long screw further down. Then it needs to be unclipped from 4 clips in corners. The front knob came off when I pulled off the part, you might like to try removing knob first. Replacing with the new part was simple, and dishwasher now working perfectly.

If renting, note the many hundreds of people already bought this part online, not counting the people who got theirs from a repairman, you might like to point out to your landlord that it is not your fault the dishwasher handle broke.

Has worked well for 6yrs but bottom basket wheels now falling off – This has been a very good dishwasher considering it didn't cost us a fortune and we have used it everyday of it's life for the past 6 years. It's reasonably quiet and has always washed the dishes and glasses well. Our only disappointment has been that the plastic wheels on the bottom basket have broken and fallen off one by one so now it's nearly impossible to push in the basket if it's heavy and full of dishes.  Show details

Circuit Board Failure - Poor design, no isolation from steam during drying – Although this dishwasher is 6 years old, it has only performed around 100-200 cycles before the circuit board failed. I am a single guy and basically only use a dishwasher when I have guests. Plus I travel a great deal, so the appliance sits there doing nothing. I always wash my dishes before putting them into the appliance and I never put metal… Read more

saucepans or baking dishes into the dishwasher (not that I have many of those - being a single guy). The original Vulcan Dishlex I purchased many years ago lasted me for 16 years. I only replaced it when the cabinet paint-work deteriorated. This later model Electrolux Dishlex has nothing in common with the originalVulcan design - chalk & cheese comes to mind. The DX103 is an import from Poland and it is starting to look to me to be a very poor quality product. I know a lot about these appliances because I worked in electronic product design for many years and the group I managed did a lot of work for the appliance industry - both in Australia and overseas. In fact, my design group became the leaders in this field worldwide with total market dominance. The company is now part of a major US corporation.

The DX103 failed because of either poor circuit board components and/or the board was not isolated correctly from the steam generated from the drying cycle. I am surprised Electrolux didn't have a recall or more "safety" risk issues with this model.

In any event, I called the Electrolux Service Centre only to be cut-off by the operator when I asked to be connected to a technical person to discuss the issue. So I called again and spoke with another operator. I explained how my appliance had only done a very limited number of cycles, and she was very helpful and suggested that perhaps the appliance failed because it wasn't used enough. To an engineer who has spent the major part of his working life in the design and manufacture of circuit boards, sub-components and assemblies - well let's just say I was not impressed. I then pursued the matter some more and eventually Electrolux HO offered to replace the suspect circuit board but they wanted me to pay something like $150 for a technician and service call. The board would actually cost Electrolux less than $50 and I really don't need a service technician to show me how to install a board. All up, Electrolux do a poor job of meeting their obligations under Australian Consumer Law and I am now seriously considering taking the matter further to court through the small claims judiciary service to prove a point and maybe force Electrolux to review their obligation when there is a known problem with a product. From my research on the web I expect Electrolux have had a lot of these boards replaced.

I would be interested in hearing from other consumers who have this model appliance and have experienced a similar problem.

Worked okay, but now intermittent errors – The dishwasher worked okay for about two years. When I say "okay" I mean the dishes were cleaned to an acceptable level most of the time. Sometimes it would leave water marks on the dishes, and you'd always need to rinse and scour things by hand before putting them into the dishwasher otherwise they'd still be dirty when they came out. After about… Read more

two years of operation, the error light started to blink intermittently. Sometimes the cycle would complete fine. Other times, it would error. There was no rhyme nor reason to why this would happen on some occasions but not others. It would get 99% of the way through the wash, then error. Might try a different brand next time.

Finish Light – I find the machine washes ok,however the finish light only comes on sometimes. I have used the machine on the eco cycle, the data puts the cycle time at 90 to 110 minutes. could send out a technician for $149 plus parts to fix it. The handle is flimsy. It should last the life of the washer. It has never had rough handling, only normal day to day use. Great dishwasher – Cleans dishes really well, it is 7 years old unfortunately the handle is broken advised by Dishlex that the new models have a different type of handle. So today I am picking up my new stainless steel Dishlex Dishwasher. After trying several other brands the Dishlex out performs them easily.

Terrible customer service – This dishwasher broke under warranty and I experienced terrible customer service. They came out and repaired it but charged me $273 for it. Then they sent the invoice to the wrong address so when I didn't pay it (because I didn't know they had billed me) they sent the bill to the debt collectors. I won't be buying from them again

Awful awful machine, would not recommend to anyone – I have owned this model for approx 18 months. So far when it was under warranty the circuit board broke and now it's out of warranty 'low and behold' it's broken again. I am absolutely disappointed with this product as it looks like every 9 months or so it will break. I wish I wasn't a fool and bought this.

What a disappointment - Dishlex DX103SK – The DX103SK was included in our house as standard from our builder. From the beginning the 'finish' light didn't work, but it cleaned dishes well and dried good. It was fairly quiet but dish racks wouldn't fit dishes and glasses properly. Items fell over constantly. Suddenly it would not turn on and on lights not work. Dishwasher is now dead and thrown out. Extremely poor quality.

Don't buy this or any similar machines with this handle – This is a good dishwasher - very quiet and does a good, quick job washing the dishes. serviceman to install the costly replacement door. So you are stung twice for a small handle. It is planned obsolescence that keeps the company producing the expensive spare part and their fleet of serviceman in a job. Buy at your peril. Or like us - go up to Bunnings when it does happen and carefully screw in a small, elongated U shaped drawer handle. Works a treat!

In this case i may as well go and purchase a new one. (obviously not another Dishlex, Electrolux) Was discusted with the fact this is clearly a fault with this dishwasher, but yet we are expected to pay for this. I will never buy another Dishlex, Electrolux again for this reason. I previously had a Dishlex before this and had absolutely nothing go wrong until about 5 years when I had to replace an element, so always recommended this brand and had faith in it. I must admit, I had no problem with the way this dishwasher washed or any other complaint with the actual product. (yet), but so you shouldn't after only 2 and a half years......very unimpressed by this company!!!!!

I know why it has been discontinued – Circuit board goes when not long out of warranty. Choose another brand except Electrolux. Poor quality, no understanding from service department. Machine purchased by the builder/developer and installed into new townhouse which was sold 7 to months later. So machine not used until then but the basic warranty goes back to when the developer purchased NOT when the property was sold to the unsuspecting buyer.

Defeats the purposes of a dishwasher - junk – This product is of very poor quality and design and the only reason why it gets 2 stars as opposed to 1, is because it still works after 2 years. 1) Arrangement - very poor design. Very complex to fit general plates, bowels, glasses. 2) Sprouts - keep getting clogged - thanks to the poor design, the filter has holes large enough to enter the… Read more

closed water system but the sprouts (which uses this closed water) has outlets smaller than the filter. Therefore its a guarantee the sprouts become clogged. Then the machine does even a poorer job of cleaning than it does baseline.

3) Cleaning filter - again poor design. The revolving bottom sprout can only be at a very defined angle before you can remove the filter. Cleaning filters is already not fun, making the filter difficult to remove makes this process worse.

4) Residue - the machine is of poor wash quality. Even using 1/2 amount of detergent, it leaves a residue.

5) Poor cleaning - same as above basically except that this machine really requires you to rinse before using it (I mean rinse just basic foods - nothing heavily soiled). Defeats the purposes of a dishwasher.
