I’m not computer savvy, I thought I was sending my queue to dodos, did it go public?

Hi Sandra, no, this has come through to me as a public reviewer. I would suggest it's not a good idea to put your name, address & phone number on a public review site. As far as your question, Dodo has two types of internet connection - ADSL, which works though being plugged into your home telephone line, and NBN. Dongles are going out of fashion now so there might not be that many internet providers that still have dongle plans. You probably need to get in touch with however you bought the dongle from. Best of luck, Kathleen

I live in Katherine NT and I wanna know of anyone having problems with DODO?

Sorry Sarah, I have no experience of Dodo performance in Katherine on Mobile Broadband. Suggest you try it and cancel if it does meet your expectations. I understand that Dodo uses Optus network for Mobile Broadband. It might give you an idea of performance by ascertaining the satisfaction of Optus customers.

Hi Sarah, I do not live anywhere near you but I have got the “fastest” wifi speeds they have I was told Up to 1gbps but I’m getting 5mbps which is significantly lower! I’ve only been with dodo for a few weeks now but suddenly a few days ago these problems started, my theory is they have put me down from the fastest speeds to the lowest without any notice

Have found DODO great for home wifi--but just got smartphone--used it all day on free wifi--used my dodo data once to check it was working, and maybe made 2 phone calls--have message saying half my usage gone (2 gb). This just doesn't seem possible. My question is if I am connected to free wifi is that what the smart phone will use? Or is there some sneaky scenario where it keeps using sim card data. I am completely new to smart phone usage...

You must turn off "Mobile Data' on your phone, and then make sure you turn on wifi on on your phone, and choose the name of your wifi service in the list. This is the same for all mobile phones and mobile phone services, regardless of the company your mobile phone is with.

Then, when you leave your house, if you need to connect to the internet while away from home, you will need to turn "Mobile Data" on, but make sure to turn it off again, else your phone might dowload updates which will go against your mobile data limit.

If this does not make sense to you, you need to talk to a friend who is tech-savvy. Even better, have a tech-savvy friend demonstrate these steps to you in your own home

Great reply by Pedro, but you also need to turn off all the apps in your phone that update themselves on their own, chewing through your phone data. So any games, or search engines, compass, maps etc. and only turn them on when you want to use them. I use an apple iphone so you would go into settings, then mobile data then scroll down and you will see all the icons with a green button if they are turned on, touch them, slide left to turn them off. Hope this helps. Android phones are similar in there set up.

Hi, I was wondering if you can text message if you have prepaid wireless broadband?

Dodo

Hi Kelly,

No, a Dodo prepaid Mobile Wireless Broadband account cannot be used to send SMS/text messages.

Thank you

Why does everyone knock dodo when the service is using optus, they cannot help if there network is not up to scratch, telstra have more problems than they and there users will admit, its the old thing, use telstra or get ribbed for using someone else, telstra sucks, there service sucks, accounting suck and customer service is disgusting.

I am not sure if you have used mobile broadband from both providers but I certainly have. I was mostly upset that Dodo wasted my time by offering the service in the first place given that after pressing the issue of appalling service I received both a phone call and an email admitting that the infrastructure in the area was horribly overloaded and the service wouldn't work for me.

No amount of dodo/optus spin can convince me that they were not aware of this when selling me the service. From their I moved to the 12gb mobile broadband package from telstra and now have amazing quality/speed connection (i am using the sierra wireless 320U modem provided) and phone support although seldom needed has been perfect. Everyone's circumstances differ with these things so of course their experiences may too. Hell, maybe the ADSL services from dodo are quite good, I don't know but I did this review in the 'mobile broadband' section for that reason. Bad taste of dodo experience gone.
