Missing information – Does anyone know a programme that will allow me to retrieve messages I accidentally deleted from a Doro 623 Phone Easy? I have been looking at Dr fone however I have not tried it yet as I am worried I could corrupt the phone if it fails to recover the information. Bazza  Show details

Nice Phone, but try to get it repaired – I bought a Doro 623 mobile in July 2017. Five days later it failed completely and I can not get it repaired. I Would not buy another Doro. I bought a Samsung Gold flip phone and it is going strong. A bad experience from the 'Net, in future I will buy from 'bricks & mortar' stores in Australia.  Show details

Suits Us – Prefer land line but can't get by these days without a mobile. Good vision and compact. Not sure if nuisance calls can be blocked, have to figure that one out yet. Also Optus seems to be only telco that we can top up six monthly as seldom used, us being Young Pensioners.  Show details

Great Older Person Phone – Brought this for my Nan recently and it ticks all the boxes that she was after. Simple to Use Big text on the handset itself and in the phone and Black and White Cosmetic design makes it easy for her to see aswell. Doesn't have as many features as some other handsets but that perfect for her.  Show details

also mislead - unlocked yes, but does not work on Telstra network – Yes , I paid a little more for the handset because it was unlocked and obviously thought I could pick and choose the best deal on offer from ALL the networks - WRONG !! The unlocked phone has some aerial issues and will only work on Optus. So, ok , I change from Aldi's great prepaid deal and take $10 for 6months from Optus for my 88 year old Mum ,… Read more

who only has it for emergencies( she used $4 worth of call time in that first 6 months) Alas , now when the 6 months is up Optus now only offer $10 for a 45 day expiry.

So buying a Doro for seniors was a complete waste of time and money

I was sucked in by eBay seller hi_tech_deals – I was sucked in by Aussie eBay seller hi_tech_deals This phone does not work with Telstra's network - but their advert said "unlocked" Further down they mention the Telstra - our biggest phone company. I believe the product to be top notch and was going to be replacement for my elderly mother's Doro that was 2G and no longer usable in Australia. Sad that eBay allow false attractive headings.  Show details

This is a great Mobile Phone – This Mobile Phone works great with a long battery life, Bluetooth, large text which is easy to read. The phone really is very easy to use. If you don't want the net, it is also great because it does not have it, so you won't lose money on data. The only little drawback it has is that it always eventually increases the ring volume by itself. It… Read more

does this no matter how many times you set it to the minimum. Still, buy this phone, it is superb with crystal clear sound.

PhoneEasy- lives up to its name - EASY TO USE – PhoneEasy so easy to use. Instructions are so simple to follow. The phone only needs to be flipped open to answer. Dial is very clear to read. The message text lettering can be altered to bigger font sizing for easier reading and when numbers are pressed to dial this phone can be programmed so a voice will speak the digit you are dialling. clear loudspeaker and even without loudspeak the phone has a loud, clear sound. A green light will flash if a message or call is missed. A red light will flash when recharging and stop once the battery is fully charged. The phone fits easily into the charging cradle which comes supplied. The alarm is easy to set and this phone has quite a number of tones to choose from for ring, alarms and receiving messages. The camera is easy to use and download photos to the computer is easy as is sending video messages and using Bluetooth. It also features an assistance button which allows easy access to contact pre- defined numbers should I need urgent help. This button is indented into the back of the phone: easily accessible when required but won't activate accidentally only when pressed. So far I haven't needed to use this feature but I do know how to use it if needed. This PhoneEasy is one of the best products I've purchased. It lives up to it's promise of being easy to use for the older generation who need a mobile phone that's not too complicated to use. Thanks Doro, a great product. I wish I'd bought one sooner.

Basic Phone for Elderly People! – My 91 year old Mum needed a phone that was exceptionally easy to use should she have the need! This phone fits the bill, with only the very basics provided. Larger numbers and well lit screen add to the ease of use. A speaker is also provided which helps with people who are hard of hearing.  Show details

Doro PhoneEasy 623 and Optus Southgate , Sylvania - Beware – I bought a Doro PhoneEasy 623 mobile phone from Optus Store Southgate, Sylvania. I have used Aldi for my mobile phone service for some time. The coverage is good and only 11c/min. Aldi sent a number of emails over the past 3 months warning that Telstra ( which Aldi uses ) would cancel 2 G phone service 1 December. New phone had to be 850MHZ … Read more

or higher.

I went to Optus looking at new unlocked phones. Told the salesman I wanted to replace my 2G phone and because I have a prepaid Aldi / Telstra service and it must be 850 MHZ or higher.

He said because we are in our 70’s he recommended the Doro PhoneEasy 623.

It had large buttons and a 2 year warranty. If any problem bring it back. He transfer my sim card to new phone, I bought it 23 November but since 1 December it does not work.

Went back to Optus store at Southgate, Sylvania. Spoke to the salesman and manager.

They said it was not their problem, go complain to Telstra.

Telstra Southgate Sylvania manager said a number of Optus Doro customers complained of same problem. Telstra advised Optus months ago of change in frequency bands. It was Optus’ fault.

I returned to Optus store at Southgate Sylvania. They finally admitted that Doro only works with Optus and I would have to buy their plan ( 20c/min ) or buy another new phone.

My complaint I'm sending to Communications Ombudsman :

1) Doro should NOT market a phone that only works on Optus or at least have a clear warning on the box that it does not work with Telstra - the biggest mobile service provider in Australia.

2) Optus salesman should NOT have recommended Doro when I stated I used Aldi / Telstra phone service and it needed to operate on 850MHZ or more . He should have clearly stated I would have to change to Optus if I bought the Doro phone.

3) My phone was just a week old, perfect condition and only used 5 times before I lost use.

Optus should have returned my money, honoured the 2 year warranty.

Beware of buying a Doro mobile phone and dealing with Optus at Southgate, Sylvania.

Good phone very easy to use – I bought 2 phones one for me and one for a friend now they are useless as our network changed to 4g & not compatible . What a waste of money. I was told it would work on all networks . I feel I was cheated by the shop for telling lies.  Show details

not on telstra nextG – This may be advertised as a 3G phone but its not a Next G (Telstra 3G service). Is this fraudulent advertising by Doro as they say its 3G. Phone itself is great as bought for my elderly mum. I have now bought the Aspera f24 flip phone, which is nextG compliant.  Show details

Great phone...But not with Telstra 3G!!!!! – Bought Doro for my Mother beginning of this year online because her old phone was 2G. She is 87 and was having problem using smalller Samsung flip phone... Searched online and found Doro and she loved it straight away. She was with Telstra. Seller advised "unlocked" and worked perfectly, until 1st December, then "invalid sim" message appeared.... Doesn't work with Telstra 3G. Switched to Optus. Problem solved!!!!!  Show details

Just about redundant – Bought this phone for my mum last year and it's been doing the job for her basic phone call and texting needs. However, Aldi Mobile have just advised that with Telstra's closure of its 2g network in December, this phone is junk. Not that you can find this out from Doro because they don't reply to emails. It seems this phone does not work on… Read more

Telstra's 3G network. Why not just manufacture a phone that can operate on the frequency bands of all major carriers. Will now seek an alernative handset for my mum.

Same as older model: lousy reception – Just bought a Doro 623 to replace the previous model which I reviewed favourably. (Whilst I lived in the city there was no problem but after moving to The Blue Mountains I found it had terrible reception). The 623 is supposed to have up-dated technology but I am still sitting in my armchair waving the thing above my head. My partner across the… Read more

room uses a Samsung and has no problems. I could have saved my money. Is it beyond mobile phone manufacturers to take, say, 100 elderly people for dinner somewhere and find out what they actually want in a phone? Oh, and don't expect any help from Doro Australia. They don't answer emails and there is no contact number. And at the moment the on-line manual is not available. But hey, I'm 74, what would I know.

December 21st 2017 Update: At last a Seniors Phone That Works In Rural Area

I was very happy with my older Doro but it had to go along with all older G2 models. After an abortive purchase about a year ago when I discovered that merely unlocking this Optus-locked unit would not get me reception I stepped outside my Telstra Bundle and set up a single account with Optus. The coverage in The Blue Mountains is great and most seniors would find this simple unit ticks all the boxes. My only complaint is that the buttons are harder to handle than the older unit. Once slightly raised and tactile, they are now slightly recessed and I make a lot of mistakes. There is no positive feel and believe it or not, arthritis does make a difference here. Best of all it's a flip phone so no accidental dialling. Still the best for oldies.

Does exactly what it says on the box – My wife needed an easy to use 3G phone, to replace her aging 2G flip phone. Just for phone calls, texts and occasional photos/movies. I found this phone easy to set up and use; a large display, wide keys, and easy to read (adjustable size) display characters (can leave glasses off when using it). No complaints at all. I may have to get one for myself
