Switched to Drakes some time ago due to the excessive price gouging from Woolies and Coles. Very happy with the service and choice. Fruit and veg is mostly local and is far superior to the cr#p they sell in Woolies and Coles. Have to make a few adjustments but overall they have 99% of what we need. Recently noticed prices have been steadily… Read more

increasing, hopefully not a sign they are joining the other supermarkets in ripping off customers with excessive prices. Time will tell

I purchased a years supply of leggos tomatoe sauce. It was on a special price. But, I discoverd that all the jars were diluted, ie watered down. I took photos to prove the sauce laid on a plate lost its consistency and viscosity. I sent this information to drakes WHO initially stated they would attend to my matter, but later negated all that.… Read more

Their advertising which has the owner ([Name Removed]) in them portray family, sincerity authenticity and customer care. I sent Roger copy email s to admin. Neither he nor his staff have attended to my matter. The concept of customer service and customer satisfaction does not exist with drakes supermarket. I find their advertising totally deceptive and misleading.

The photo shows an aldi brand sauce versus the leggos sauce after 5 minutes of being placed on the plate. Drakes supermarket receipt no is 14110907260355

The chicken purchased was Drakes Butchery at a premium price of $7.50 per kg. The pieces are boney, small and as you can see the drumsticks are less than 75mm long. Weigh about 35 grams each. This company claims to look after the customer. My view is a total rip off. Show details

Drakes advertising groceries to no avail – I am very disappointed with Drakes in Newton. They had the guts to advertise fresh salmon from the deli “for $14 only on Friday 28/6” during a cost of living crisis. Then they are “surprised” that an overwhelming amount of people attend Drakes that day. It’s all been used as a ruse to lure people into their store to get customers substitute… Read more

advertised “out of stock” food with more expensive items. When I turned up there they hadn’t any salmon left and it wasn’t even 11:00! At least I wasn’t alone as other disgruntled customers surrounding the deli complained about their scam of non-existent fresh salmon just to be told by Drakes employees they are “sold out” and we should all get a “rain check”. Guess what: one long line of customers just waiting for a so-called “rain check”. No guarantee given that the product will be available within the next fortnight as they must have issued hundreds of them! This was my last visit at this supermarket as I don’t need hoaxes when going shopping. Other products like advertised beef were of course also sold out I was advised by another customer.

Pork scotch fillet – Thick cuts but full of fat and gristle, I managed to eat 1/4 of the cutlet as meat that I marinated, the rest put in the bin, what a waste at $20 kilo. Terrible quality Show details

I switched to Drake's home delivery a while ago now and they keep exceeding expectations. I pay a monthly subscription for delivery which is the equivalent of two deliveries with the other big name supermarkets. The subscriptions allow for as many deliveries as you like providing they exceed a certain value (my weekly cat food and kitty litter… Read more

practically hit this point all by itself) and instead of my previously fortnightly shopping routine I switched to a weekly delivery. Firstly, let me tell you about Drakes online shopping portal. In a nutshell it puts the others to shame. Drakes allows you to include notes next to each item but also provides a text box to add additional notes when you go through the check out process. It's great for more detailed substitution notes. I love that I can also choose boxes as a delivery option and not just those flimsy paper bags including the half size ones that allows the delivery people to see what you have ordered. And they take the boxes back when they collect the next delivery so they can be reused. Awesome. Anyway....this week I had an order that was missing a couple of items. I ordered two 1 lt milk and received 1lt of a more expensive brand and I was missing apples. I thought my substitution notes were clear when I asked for them to substitute anything like for like and that if I didn't like what they sent I would just include that in my next notes not to substitute with that item. I was a little perplexed to not get these items given I find it hard to believe they had also run out of 2lt milk; makes sense to send me 1 2lt instead of 1 more expensive brand; after all it should not only be about substituting similar item for item but also quantity and no apples at all? I emailed drakes; hoping that maybe some feedback would be given to the person that picked my order to think about quantity rather than price point; I was pretty sure that they hadn't read my substitution notes. I certainly was not expecting a phone call from drakes. The front of house manager who advised she was learning the online services role was simply lovely; she apologized, advised she had read my notes and reviewed my order. She pointed out that I was also charged for the milk I didn't receive and then asked if I wanted a refund. I wanted the milk and not the refund and I was not expecting them to consider a delivery given that normally a delivery had to be over a certain amount and as I pointed out in my email that the missing milk and apples and even the forgotten coffee I had forgotten to include would not meet that minimum delivery amount. After asking for the milk to be sent and confirming that I didn't mind if this came as 1 lt or a 2 lt and confirming any apples was fine she asked if it was okay if they items came out the next day. Given I work from home this wasn't an issue. The fact that they were happy to send out the missing items simply blew my socks off. My work colleagues are all interstate and no sooner had I finished telling them about my great experience I just had with Drakes I then receive another phone call; this time from the online manager who then decided to one up the other contact and asked me if I wanted them to also send the forgotten coffee; I took her up on this and she advised that would ring the store to have them send that the following day with the missing items from my order. Given all of this; did my missing items arrive the next day as planned? Yep. Here is a company that has awesome customer service and other supermarkets can learn from it. Instead of just taking the easy way out just refunding with no contact they owned the mistake as a collective and then decided to fix it. Keep up the awesome work Drakes!

Drakes salmon on special this week for $14.90 I went this morning to Clovercrest store and requested 4 pieces. She charged me $32 /kilo more than double the advertised price! special for $14.90.I went back to the deli section and took the catalogue with me.spoke to a different staff member who explained to me that the special salmon is the thawed one but I was given the regular salmon because I didn’t specify that I wanted the thawed salmon!!As confusing that is I said to her I didn’t request a regular salamon either??? I asked her for some thawed salmon only to be told that the thawed one is actually frozen! I just had enough of the deception so decided to return the salmon !went back to the checkout and the guy was confused himself and called the deli staff who sold me the salmon who explained the same thing, the regular salmon is $32 but the special one is the thawed salmon.I told her that the thawed one is actually frozen! She argued that thawed means frozen and continued on ,that it takes the whole day to defrost!so patronising!!! I will never shop there again

Drakes have their occasional off days, but don't they all! – I shop every week at Drakes, Clovercrest, where they're usually pretty helpful and polite. But today wasn't a happy experience. I arrived at the deli counter and tapped the queue number machine, receiving ticket 94. The next person to tap the machine got 93, and the next got 92! I pointed out to the young man serving nearest to me, that the… Read more

machine was counting backwards, and he simply turned his back, grinning to himself. So I guess he knew about it and thought it was very funny. I didn't! I had to wait while the last to arrive at the counter got served first.

When I got to the checkout, I separated my purchases into appropriate piles for scanning and packing, as I always do. The checkout chick proceeded to mix everything up, packing the dog bones with the fruit, and the bread with the tub of ice-cream, etc. Why do they do that? Maybe she was annoyed that I suggested she put the smallest pile in the smallest bag, so that she'd have room for everything.

NB... I did the above review ages ago. I guess every shopper has a bad day now and then. But I have to point out that Drakes supermarkets as a whole have pretty good staff, who nine times out of ten are quite helpful, sometimes even exceptionally helpful.

As for the checkout staff, if I take the time to explain to them that I prefer the heavy items like juice contains etc to be packed separate from the more delicate items like eggs and bread, they normally don't mind too much.

I hate those awful dog poo bags they supply for the fruit and veg these days, but I dare say all supermarkets have switched to those by now. They're not at all tactile and are impossible to use if you have arthritic fingers. I have a stash of the old type plastic bags that I take shopping with me, and reuse them over and over again.

Great new look – WOW, the new fit out at my local Drakes is looking fantastic, bright and airy on entering, very welcoming. Drakes also had heaps of stock over this holiday period compared to other stores, well done Drakes. I would like to add that the staff are always very helpful and friendly and always well presented, a great credit to the store these days. Thank you Drakes!! Show details

Only have one complaint. So many times I bought reduced price chicken and pork rolled roasts only to get home and find them not fit to eat. Reduced means still eatable not taking a chance with getting food… Read more

Charity's ???? They tell me you're worth $850 million aprox. Coles give generously, Hungry Jacks $2-5 million, Coopers, McDonald's and the list goes on - You practically beg for customers and gloat about how good you are - but never ever have i heard you give substantial $$$$ to anyone ? or are you just so money hungry and expect hard working people to support you ?

I don't have an issue shopping there. But i do think managemdent should instruct their staff on informing customers that there will be a charge when offering a plastic bag to place items in. Not everyone knows there is a charge for those. Not a bad side line income when you multiply the cost of a bag.

Drakes claim to utilise local produce and support Australian suppliers etc. Hence some prices may be higher than the other supermarkets. However, why is it that the same regular items, sold by Coles, Woolworths are always at a higher cost at Drakes? I'm referring to everyday items like toothpaste, deodorants, soaps, bleaches, flour, oils,… Read more

tinned food etc etc etc. Simple everyday brand identical items are always more expensive at Drakes, and their prices continue to increase. Drakes north haven is shocking for this and the reason being..... there is no competition nearby. I just wish a Coles and or Woolworths would open directly near my local, at least this would keep for better words, the b#$@ards honest.
