THANKYOU EAST GIPPSLAND SOLAR!!!! AMAZING SERVICE! Very friendly and flexible staff. Highly recommend this company for the install, maintenance and any other issues/questions you have about solar panels, batteries and hot water services. I had both a Solar system and Hot water removed and replaced with new systems due to the others being in a… Read more
really bad state. The initial quote was better than even the mainstream companies, but I knew that the install by East Gippsland Solar would be done by their own installers, not subcontracted out… and I also knew that they have been around for ages and not just one of those companies that disappear and you’re left with a non supported system. The install time was flexible and they were very professional and clean. Both whole system installs look amazing and they arranged a full refit of my circuit breaker box too. I also had issues with the power grid company, but East Gippsland Solar sorted all this out. They were also happy for any follow up calls for questions we had. THANKYOU EAST GIPPSLAND SOLAR!!!!!!!!

They do not fix warranty issues – EG solar installed a system for me after the bushfires. The inverter has failed after just 3 years and they are refusing to come out and fix it. They initially made appointments then just didnt show up and after my son complained to them they have just decided that they dont need to honor their warranty. There are also issues with the install, they promised 24/7 monitoring of the system but none of this was set up. To be honest Show details
Untruthful information – They quoted for panels claiming they were made in [Content Removed] or the [Content Removed]. A search found that brand was made in [Content Removed]. Not that there was an issue with [Content Removed] the panels were reputed to be good quality. But I'm not keen to pay top country prices when I should be getting [Content Removed] prices. Better deal at alternate installer. Show details
Frustrating company to deal with – The communication is poor and responding to emails and phone calls are not their forte. They poorly communicate and don't pass on relevant messages. They seem to run their business like a circus and no one knows what's going on. This is a frustrating company to deal with. Show details
Very Happy with my new solar system love it! – [Name Removed] at East Gippsland Solar was very helpful and inforamavite and explained what I required to reduce my ever growing power bills. Installation guys were great which made it so easy for us and they also helped out with all the rebates I was able to obtain which made the cost of the system very affordable. Now looking at installing a battery from East Gippsland Solar too :) Show details

[Name Removed] from East Gippsland understood my needs right away, I paid the deposit and a week later they were out at my place installing my new Solar Hot Water Service. and I now have Solar Hot Water, Heated free from the sun and no more expansive gas bills to heat the hot water. The installer from East Gippsland Solar, [Name Removed], who installed my new Solar Hot Water Unit, explained to me how it all works and I have an electric booster available if ever needed.
Since I have had this installed I have never run out of hot water and it is always ready to go. I would highly recommend East Gippsland Solar if you want Solar hot water for your home.
Very disappointing - maybe only worth 1 star, but you decide – East Gippsland Solar - EGS (I'm editing this again on 13/8/18 to mention their after sales service.) Since the system was installed, I've had to contact East Gippsland Solar a few times. They could easily consider me a difficult customer - see below - but they have always responded quickly, politely and appropriately. (I'm editing this on… Read more
30/7/18 to add the final step of the installation - see end of review.)
A couple of years ago I looked at solar power but it wasn’t worth it for me. I was living alone and hardly used any electricity. I was impressed with the salesman/consultant though. He was a bit bossy but seemed to know what he was talking about and he also seemed to be honest in his opinions.
Two or three years on, different house and a new partner, solar power seemed like a good option. www.solarquotes.com.au couldn’t give me any quotes in this area so I went back to the company who had seemed so knowledgeable and honest.
I spent some time discussing a system with them and opted for what seems to be the top end of the market. I paid a deposit on 11th May and, after I'd contacted them, they got back to me on the 15th saying they’d be in touch in 2 to 4 weeks. Around 20th June, I contacted them and asked if they had a date. They said they’d been busy but they could do it next Friday. Okay!
Their guys turned up on the Friday 29th June as promised. One of them looked up at the roof and said, “Has anyone been out to inspect the site.” I told him “no”. He shook his head and I said, “Is there a problem?” He said, “I haven’t got a problem but you have.” I didn’t find that funny. I'm not sure what the problem was.
Next I asked the electrician how he was going to fix the inverter to the wall of the house. He wanted to use plugs and screws, but this is a mudbrick house and that is not an acceptable way to fix to mudbrick. I sorted that problem out using some battens and waterproof ply.
They got on with the job and seemed pretty good at it - hard working and friendly.
They had nearly finished but didn’t have a length of cable they needed. I didn’t either, so they left the system half installed and not finished. They were also supposed to have some papers for my partner to sign since the electricity account is in her name. They didn’t have them, or if they did they forgot. The electrician said he’d be back the next week to finish the job.
I contacted them again on 12th July, about 2 weeks later. They had just been trying to contact me to tell me they’d be out the next week, possibly on the Monday. As it turned out, they promised to come on the Thursday, 19th July. They called in to my partner’s workplace and got her to sign the papers. Unfortunately they were the papers for somebody else’s job. They also mentioned that they wouldn’t be able to make it to our job that day.
Well, that’s where I’m up to as I write (Thursday 19th July) with vague promises that they will call in and get my partner to sign the papers tonight and even vaguer promises that the electrician will be back to finish the job tomorrow.
I’m very disappointed. I was hoping to give a local company 5 star reviews. As it is, the work may be okay, but I certainly can’t recommend them. To make matters worse, my local electrician has started offering the same top quality solar systems. At least he’s really local and, in my experience, reliable. I don’t know where I stand legally, but I may just get him to finish the job for me and deduct his fees from whatever East Gippsland Solar want to charge me - about $10,400 for the whole thing.
Update 30/7/18
I did tell tell EGS that I'd get somebody else to complete the job and deduct the charge from what I owed them. I also contacted REC the manufacturer of the panels and told them about the problems. REC contacted EGS as well. They came out the following Thursday 26/7/18 and completed the job. Well, it's complete apart from the inspection and various bits of paperwork like informing the electricity provider that we're now exporting power to the grid.
So, in the end it's done, two and a half months after I paid the deposit and after spending three days at home for them to do the work. The panels are still on the roof after very strong winds. I don't know is that 3 stars or 2?
