are powered with EGO 56V batteries which make EGO the strongest battery operated power tools in the marketplace. They provide so much power that the products can easily compete with the smelly petrol engines. Let us have a closer look at the whipper snipper. It itself is a statement of art. Beautifully manufactured boasting the carbon fibre shaft (carbon is an incredibly strong yet light material. Hence the best racing bikes frames are made of carbon) which is telescopic ensuring that you will find a comfortable position. The well padded handle is adjustable which is a welcome thing. It is equipped with a quick release so that you can turn the handle around the shaft without fiddling with screws. The battery installation couldn't be easier. You just slide it in and off you go! I use a smaller 2.5 Amper hour battery which lasts almost 45 minutes. You may install a bigger (and significantly more expensive and heavier) battery if you wish (for example 5.0A) There is a green light at the end of battery casing which shows you how much juice you have left. Now, what are the most outstanding features the whole town is talking about? First, there is an electric self winding line mechanism. You just instal the line through two opposite each other eyelids, press the button on the shaft and bingo! The line is automatically wound onto the head. No more frustrating instalment of the line which can drive one crazy. Wonderful invention indeed! And what is a real gem which puts this line trimmer on the pedestal, is the world first Line IQ head. Now what it does is an engineering miracle-you feed the line, go about the job of trimming and there is absolutely NO NEED TO BUMP the head to advance the line. The IQ head keeps the line at a constant length automatically!! Another clever feature is a harness assembly which allows you to shift the harness bracket along the shaft, once again optimising your position. Now, you can easily get my drift. This trimmer is something to write home about. Once you use it, you will go to the shed and throw out your petrol trimmer! Oh, almost forgot. The trimmer has a switch controlling two speeds. The high speed is good for thick grass but obviously it depletes the battery quicker. I found that the slower speed it quite sufficient for normal trimming and edging. Because of its power, the trimmer does what it is supposed to do with ease. Due to its relatively light weight, I can have the job done and my arms are still OK. Now, if there is anything one may be critical off apart from the price it is the main switch. Not a big deal but comparing it with the switch on my older EGO trimmer, this one is little bit more fiddly. I paid $399 for the skin only. When you purchase a battery of your choice, it becomes an expensive product. But so what, knowing that you have the best there is amongst the line trimmers! The warranty is 5 years on the trimmer and three years on batteries for consumer (not professional) use. And I hasten to add that EGO Customer Service is second to none. So, thumbs up to EGO on this product. Thoroughly recommended!
