Elanation eTurbo

Wish we had just bought a fitbit – Going against my better judgement I allowed my daughter to purchase the Elanation over the Fitbit. The actual device is decent however the app is a complete letdown. You can't even reset the parent password without having your email on the same device. Why would I have my email client on my daughter's phone? Manually having to sync each day otherwise you lose your kids data is also crazy.

Good product overall – This a fitness tracker designed for children up to 12 years old. We purchased 2 eturbos as Christmas presents for our 8 & 9 year old boys. My sister also purchased 2 eturbos for her children as Christmas gifts. The initial excitement Christmas morning quickly waned when we discovered the accompanying app wasn’t working. We were unable to sync the devices which meant dates & times on the devices were incorrect & none of the features worked. After working out the only way to contact Elanation is to message them via Facebook (no customer service number or email or contact details on their website) we started speaking with A representative of the company. The customer service was fantastic with the rep keeping in constant contact while assisting us. I can not fault the service we received while trying to resolve this issue. Unfortunately it turned out the issue was a software problem (affecting many more people than us & my sister). Several days after Christmas elanation submitted a software fix to the Apple Store. It then took a number of days for Apple to approve and release the update. So 2 weeks after Christmas, our kids were able to use and sync the eturbos. There are still features such as friend requests that don’t work and require further software updates in the future.

Despite the issue I do think these devices are great but obviously there’s room for improvement. When looking to purchase these we could not find any independent user reviews, only ones on the product website. I would encourage people to post reviews, both positive and constructive criticism, to enable prospective purchasers to make an informed choice.

We would purchase these again, the software issue was unfortunate, especially the timing considering they were Christmas presents. However the main thing now is the kids are loving counting their steps, swimming with them, checking out their stats on the leaderboard in the app and generally having fun with them.
