Garmin Forerunner 35

Replacement Strap! – I like the watch but I am very disappointed that the strap broke and I couldn’t replace the strap- fortunately, my brother is a dab hand with sue glue and was able to cobble it together. How ridiculous- that a perfectly functioning watch becomes unusable because the strap is moulded on. In this age of eco-awareness why create this type of watch! Show details
Perfect for adults or kids – We bought this watch for my then 7 year old son after he went through 2 junior Garmin watches in 12 months. He’s now 10 and has been wearing this watch 24/7 for the past 3 years. We’ve connected him up to Strava so he can see his cycling route on a map which he loves. He can set several sports options on it aside from swimming. He can receive… Read more
calls / read messages etc (but not answer them). I almost wonder why I bought myself an Apple Watch because this watch almost does everything for a fraction of the price.
Battery lasts for almost 9-10 days but we’ve had to replace the band 2 or 3 times.
The only drawer back is it doesn’t have a timer function, just a stop watch.
Good watch for short term only! – After 12mths I had to replaced both mine and my sons Garmin for over heating & now another 12mths on one is broken and the other the band is falling apart. I wouldnt buy these sports watches for long term and the price of them is very over rated. They are a great watch but not if you wany something for a long period. Show details
French design and nice inclusions – Funky design.Thought it was french. Last watch I had was a certain nike that had some design issues. This watch seems similar but is a step up in quality. Quality materials, design, fit and features. Strap only just fits my wrist, would be annoying if you had a wide wrist (weight lifter etc). Show details
Amazing watch – The garmin forerunner35 is an excellent watch, gd size numbers for telling the time, very comfortable to wear even in bed. The set up is very easy and straightforward. And day to day use is easy too. Read the manual to familiarise yourself with the buttons on each side and off you go. The app is very easy to work. The information it collects is… Read more
very detailed. The best fitness watch I’ve ever had and I’ve had a few. I would highly recommend this.
Excellent product – My husband loves this product as a watch, an activity tracker and a link to his iPhone. Attractive, intelligent, efficient, interesting. Works really well and looks good. Would definitely purchase again when it is time to upgrade or for another family member. Was easy to set up initially, no dramas. Show details
Works well when it works – I wanted to track my running, heart rate and sleeping habits but I spend more time trying to update the software than using it for its intended purpose. Everyday I have to link it to my phone, often times without success and every night it tries to update software again without success. Great when it works, but I didn't pay for something to work only part time. I would steer clear of this product and purchase another brand. Show details
Great watch with GPS & HR – I upgraded from a forerunner 25, the 25 did everything I needed but I wanted the strap-less HR monitoring constantly which the 35 provides. I had read that the wrist based HR technology is not as accurate and reliable as the strap based HR tech especially at intense levels, but this wasn’t a big deal for me as long as I can see the comparative… Read more
improvement it’s all good.
It receives all my smart phone notifications - texts, fb messages, other app alerts that come to my phone. It’s easy to go back and read past messages, it stores about the 10? most recent.
It also stores you last x number of recent activities. The activities it is loaded to track are walk, run outdoor, run indoor, bike, and cardio. You can pause it mid activity and then choose to resume or save.
I like the vibrating alarm, my past watch’s one didn’t used to wake me but this one is somehow on various frequencies and the changing pattern has woken me up every time but once, so it works a lot better for me.
Garmin has a live tracking feature where you can share to chosen people a link via various platforms so they can log in and see exactly where you are in real time. I like being able to let someone know when I’m leaving and knowing they can log in and see what’s up if I’m not back when I should be. It’s also useful when someone is doing a race and you want to pop up on the sidelines, you can see where they’re up to any time.
It syncs easily with other apps on my phone such as my fitness pal and map my walk and Runkeeper, data is available on all of them within seconds of completing a wak or run. When doing wak/run intervals it lets you know when to start/stop which is handy. Apparently you can control your music on the watch (skip tracks, adjust volume, etc) but I spent about 5 minutes googling how and couldn’t find instructions and gave up on that feature for now. Also the specs say “swim, 5atm” rating - I haven’t swum with it on yet but my fr25 used to be fine in the water and the 35 has been fine with splashes and the occasional rinse when it’s been grimy.
The strap is easy to change and there are several colour options from Garmin itself and loads more from elsewhere. I love the style of this watch so much better than the fr25, it looks less of a boys sports watch, with a nice colour strap now on it I wear it to work every day and only swap it out if I’m really dressing up for something.
It tells you the local weather, your steps and distance travelled (use the app to set it up so it knows your actual stride length, otherwise it guesses based on your height), your current heart rate as well as your average resting hr from last 24 hours, your active minutes, etc.
Mainly I wanted this to gps track my walks and import them to my fitness apps, to 24/7 monitor my HR, and to silently notify me of calls and messages to my wrist when at work and not able to check my phone. For these things it’s well overqualified and I have zero complaints.
Good for general fitness tracking – I received this at Christmas, and have really enjoyed the GPS tracking capability and ease to link the Garmin with both Strava and Nike running applications. My only complaint is that it's sometimes a pain if you have multiple messages or emails appear at once to read them all before they disappear/or to go back a step without the unread ones… Read more
disappearing.
Apart from that, it's a really good fitness tracker and a great option for those just stepping up their running game.
Garmin Forerunner 35 – Absolutely great sports running watch for the price. Paired with a smart phone and great controls for your music. I'm sure in time the Spotify app will allow its music to be played via this product. Light and easy with great heart monitor, texts and all smart phone notifications. Show details
She Loves it!! – Bought one of these for wife's Christmas Present after reviewing it thoroughly. Sadly nothing in Product Review ... but Choice absolutely loved it!! And we can see why. Chose the lime green edition. Band is apparently replaceable. The face itself is a black colour. Readouts are monochrome ... no colour ... so if you absolutely need glitz… Read more
then this ain't the one for you.
Bad part is that like a whole lot of tech these days, it's not particularly intuitive to set up, and there is little to no intelligible information with the product. Folks are expected to research how to use stuff on line and ... kind of ... just learn as they go. The edges of the watch face are showing very minor signs of wear ... but given the exposure to the elements in reach of swinging arms, this is probably fair enough.
We have been able to establish though that the thing has GPS tracking capability. It does steps per day based upon user programmable gender/height/weight characteristics. Incentivised rewards ... little "badges" are awarded for achievements, and goals are automatically upgraded having regard for distance covered daily.
It can give little buzzes when distances are reached each session ... she loves to hear the buzz each time she walks a mile ... although why it's in miles, and how she made it do this remains a mystery to us!!
She's also discovered a little setting that directs her to alternately walk then run for 30 seconds each, complete with a little 3 second countdown prior to each cadence.
It looks good on her, despite her being slender with tiny wrists; seems watertight enough for the minor splashing around it gets; and the band seems sturdy enough despite not really looking it. The device is charged via a USB type charger that clips on to the little electrodes on the back of the housing. We were quite surprised at how long the thing operated between charges ... with around a week being the average. Apparently more power is used while the GPS is tracking ... in other words ... when you're outdoors.
I have no doubt at all that we are completely under-utilising this device ... but as I said the info is sparse, and we are still learning. There is probably an on-line forum somewhere that tells all ... but in our day this is what manuals were for!!! We really only use it for counting steps ... but it's already amazed us with the other little things it has hidden away ... as we uncover them!
A good purchase for the money for sure.
