After sales service extremely poor – Purchased $1000.Electrolux Front Loader EWF14912. After 2 and a half years it goes dead, no lights no power. Of course the manufacturers warranty ran out 6 months ago and Electrolux fobed me off to wholesale appliances that charge $170 just to look at it. What a joke! Surely a $1000 unit should last longer than 2 and half years. I was able to… Read more

locate a reliable and cost affective technician, $80. call out. He told me it was a very common fault with Electrolux having to replace the main board, $360. How can a company as well known as Electrolux get away with selling these lemons.

So far good – I recently purchased it and have had good experience with it. It has a few options that I use and some that I don't. It is relatively quiet and I really like the fast 30-minute option when I need something washed quickly. Great price too and would recommend it for sure.  Show details

Dont Buy This Washing Machine if you dont want problems – This expensive washing machine has been nothing short of a nightmare along with pathetic service by Electrolux Preferred Supplier. - Not only is Wholesale Appliances is shoddy in their workmanship when they say they are coming out after weeks of no washing machine they come out without the parts - this has happened three or four times and the… Read more

service man couldnt care less. Obviously he is the only service man working for this shoddy company who have no clue whatsoever. After four attempts we are still waiting on parts - different parts each time and weeks have now gone by without a washing machine.

Do yourselves a favour dont buy anything to do with electrolux - we had major problems with the matching dryer and after only 2 years got a quote to get it fixed $650.00 so bought a new one for Appliances On Line

Wouldn’t recommend – Same issue as other person won’t start have only had it for a few months. First it was check tap but everything seemed in order. Now it doesn’t start all the time only randomly. My front loader prior to this was a different brand and it worked well I had it for over 10 years without issue.  Show details

Love my electrolux – Fantastic Electrolux 9 kg washing machine. Looks great, very quiet, adjusts water to how many clothes you are washing, Bought approx. 2 1/2 years ago. Has the woolmark approval certificate. I even wash runners pillows & doonas in it. Has more than enough settings. It has a quiet feature if you like to put it on during the night. Looks trendy too.  Show details

Larger washer – Bought this washing machine a few months ago. Very easy to use and has every cycle you could wish for. Appears to wash very well. I bought a larger size to fit doonas. It heats the water rather than using hot water so cycles do take a while longer than usual.  Show details

Piece of crap machine – This is a really poor machine. Forget the other questions, I can't get it to start. Just beeps and refuses to start. I am hoping that Electrolux will contact me to suggest a local repairer. I think it needs a new board. Don't have the warranty paperwork but will pay for board just to have a machine that works.  Show details

Great machine! – The machine is quite quiet and te cycles are not too long. I love the fact that it is 9kg which means less loads at even shorter cycles resulting in power saving. It also has a lot of options/selections and is easy to use. It doesn't wear nor tear my clothes.  Show details

Warning: Bearings failed after 3 years! – I am extremely disappointed in our machine as it appears there is an issue with the bearings (from the sound it's making). Good all rounder – The machine washes well and the time of the cycle can be adjusted making it very flexible. It is quiet in operation and to date has not moved so well balanced. The steam function is useful for aerating the clothing both before and after washing. Only possible drawback to date is it only has a cold water connection and the hose does not have the burst proof feature.  Show details

Pretty good but I'm not 100% happy – Overall I'm quite happy with this machine, it washes our clothes quite well but there's a few petty things I don't love. The cycles are very long, although I love the "quick 18" and "refresh" cycles, and it's settings are a little confusing to begin with. The child lock also doesn't work the way it does on most other machines, you can't lock it… Read more

while it's going so little people can change the settings and turn it off which is a hassle, and I'm a bit disappointed about that because I wanted a machine that I could stop my kids fiddling with. Being able to set a favourite cycle is useful though, and it's very quiet. All up I'm quite happy, but there's a few things I'd change if I could.

Intermittent front door closure error with Electrolux EWF14912 front loader washing machine – My wife purchased this unit approximately 12 months ago thinking it would offer trouble free and long term operation. A few months into using it, an error starting appearing on occasions, stating the front door was not closed. We thought perhaps we had not been closing it correctly or an object was preventing it to close fully, however we have… Read more

since found this error has increased in frequency and despite our due diligence to make sure there is never anything preventing the door from closing, we seem to have to close it with greater force in order for the machine to recognise it is actually closed. This may take two or three attempts to get a successful result.

I would expect more reliability from this machine considering our initial financial layout being in the order of about $1500.

Good at some things; has a mind of it's own; drying by cooking – We've had the machine for 1 year. The good sides: -quiet - definitely the quetest machine we've had -lots of programs and choices of washing modes -weights the washing and figures out the appropriate amount of water etc -space saver - 2 in one is perfect for small apartments -no continuous annoying beeping at the end of the wash (like some… Read more

older machines have).

The bad:

-opening the door after you started the program takes a while. Make sure you earmark that page in the manual because let's face it, who does not forget to put in that one more garnet in the wash.

-I haven't had a 2in1 machine before, but it seems that drying is done by slowly "cooking" the clothes. I have a pair of jeans which have pockets made out of artificial thread. After drying the jeans, the pockets melted in several places. Jeans came out perfect.

-the "keyborad" with all the buttons sometimes loops - as if someone continuously presses a button. Every now and then the machine starts beeping as if some one presses buttons. The machine has a mind of its own.

is the service this bad – I'm trying to choose between this and another is the service really so terrible. I have never seen such consistent bad reporting. If there is anyone who can write a reply that would be great. Especially concerning is the bulk purchase where half failed. My current machine has given me 20 years of great service until recently

Unrelaible 9kg front loader – This is the worst performing washing machine I have ever owned. It's not reliable & the service under warranty is poor, parts are not available when the problem occurs and the customer is left waiting. This is my second machine as the first machine was faulty and after three service calls for the same issue it was replaced.

So far so good – After our Bosch Maxx 6.5kg front load washer suddenly died (broken drive shaft), I decided on this washer (was a toss up between this and the Fisher Paykel equivalent). The swaying point for me was the inbuilt weight detection so that I would not overload the machine (likely the cause of death for our previous machine). Now I just need to remember… Read more ·  1

to turn the machine on before I start loading clothes in or the weight detection doesn't work. These are my findings based on 2 weeks with this machine (the first day it did 5 loads to catch up from being without a washing machine for a week), with an average of 7 loads per week.

Pros:

*Huge capacity compared with my previous 6.5 kg machine. I can now wash 1 load that I would have taken me 2 loads in the other machine and the most weight it has registered so far is 7.5kg. I used to be able to put clothes straight from washer to dryer (5.5kg dryer) but now that is impossible and I have to split the load to dry if I'm not hanging them out, so there is a definite increase in capacity.

*Using less detergent. Because of the weight detection it also tells you how much detergent to add for that cycle. In the past I have just put in 1 scoop for a general load or 1.5 for a really dirty load, but most of the time the machine has said to use 70 or 80% so I have been using less than a whole scoop with no reduction in wash quality.

*Vapour function. My first (hand-me-down) ASKO machine had a warm rinse cycle and the clothes came out warm when it was finished. I found this helped them dry quicker (time saving and cost saving if using a dryer), but I haven't found that to be a feature on very many machines since. The vapour function is only available at 40C or 90C, but my default temp is 40C anyway so this is perfect for me. It could just be my imagination but when I've used this function the clothes seem to be softer too (or it could just be cos they are warm).

*Quiet. It is super quiet compared to my last machine and you only really hear anything when it is filling (which is more the plumbing than the machine), when it is spinning or when it is finished (I think I will end up turning the beeps off). The first cycle I did in it I had to keep checking it was still on because there was no noise.

Cons:

*Setting the machine up was a nightmare! My husband and I could not get the top transit bolt out and after half an hour prizing it with flat head screwdrivers it finally came out. It was stuck good and proper. We now have scratches from the screwdrivers - which are on the back and out of sight, but not what you want on your brand new machine. Also, when following the instructions for first empty wash, as soon as I turned the power on it started filling with water and did it's own thing - not what the manual instructed. The only thing I had done was turn it on at the wall and on at the front of the machine.

*The sealed instruction manual (heat sealed bag) was mouldy. Yep, black mould all over it, so much so I didn't want to touch it and have printed out one from the website because there was no way I was putting that in with my documents to keep. I don't know how but it was obviously sealed with moisture inside.

*Longer wash cycles than any previous machine. There is the option to be able to shorten the cycles (part of the Time Management feature) so I have reduced most cycles to half the original length of time, and again have not seen any reduction in wash quality. 4hrs for a full cycle is a bit ridiculous.

*Touch panel. It works fabulously, so much so that I bump it as I am loading or unloading the machine which alters the settings. It is obviously very sensitive and just something I have to get used to instead of a dial and push buttons.

I have decided that with all appliances, in every model there will be duds and there will be some who love it and it lasts for years and years. Despite some not so great reviews, I decided to take a risk and hopefully we don't end up with a dud.

Stay Clear, It will fail and Electrolux will leave you hanging – Bought in bulk for an apartment build, 50% of the fleet failed in the first year due to complete failure. Barrel too small – This machine is great...except, the barrel is way too small for 9kg. We brought this machine as our 5.5kg was too small. Unfortunately this machine is very small (fits about the same amount as the 5.5kg) Yes it could take 9kg, but unless your clothes are wet, you can't fit 9kg in! The most we can get (dry clothes) is 7kg before we completely… Read more

run out of room (and that's shoving them in). The machine measures the weight of the clothes, which is handy, but just prooves that you can't fit 9kg in there. Most of the programs suggest 4kg, I believe this machine is really designed to fit about 5-6 kg (without over-filling). The clothes come out clean, easy to use etc, but if you are shopping for a large machine, don't pick this one. Also, if you like a cold water wash, probably not the best machine for this either as only 2 of the programs allow the use of cold water.

March 18th 2018 Update: 4 years and two month before bearings ruined

I look after my appliances, but this machine is set to fail. Bearings have worn out at the 4 year mark. This is not an acceptable life span for such questions expensive appliances, and the rest of the machine looks brand new. Even the belt is still in pristine condition. But bearings are obviously made to fail.....In built obsolescence... works well not really 9kg

Our first front loader – We purchased this new machine 4 days after it's release on to the Australian market. We settled on this machine after looking at, comparing and turning on around 10 different front loaders. We found the ease of use of it's programs handy. The fact you can adjust the preset programs, eg. add a pre wash or extra rinses and reduce the wash times… Read more ·  2

(independent to the preset programs) to be advantageous to our needs, because we don't always want or need a long wash.

We also liked the large door opening as this makes it easier to add and remove the washing.

The drum of this machine is the same as used in the AEG machines or which we tested (AEG are European and owned by Electrolux). We liked the larger capacity of the 9kg drum (although it's the same size as the 8kg machines in both AEG and Electrolux).

Comparing the 9kg AEG and this 9kg machine there isn't much difference other than place of manufacture. Most of the menu options are the same and the tech seemed to think a fare few of the parts are shared between the machines in this new higher end range (new digital display) from Electrolux.

Having a high spin speed of 1400rpm the clothes come out rather dry, it's amazing how much water it removes from the washing. This can cause creases so we tend to slow it down to 1200rpm most the time unless we want something dried super quick. Our top loader was 1000rpm and this is comparable to the 1000rpm on the this machine.

It's also rather quiet. When it spins you can hear it but it's not load at all. We have come from a top loader so we are used to a rather quiet machine, we are pleased with the noise levels as we are on stumps and this can make a difference.

The other reason we bought this machine was it's high energy and water ratings. It is very efficient with water usage without leaving marks or soap on the washing. We've never used the extra rinse feature to remove left over soap.

The only bad thing was 4 weeks ago it stopped working with an unknown error. It was the first time the technician had seen the machine in the field so after looking at the error message in his manual he discovered the anti flooding sensor had dislodged and tripped machine, aka stopped it. Once he put the piece of foam back in place it worked fine again. He said it would have been dislodged in transit or when being installed in the house and should have failed when first installed. For some reason it happened after 6 weeks of ownership. It has been fine since. :)

All in all it's been a great little machine and I would recommend it to anybody. Shop around for price, the rrp was $1300 but if you shop around and play one retailer off on the other you'll get it for close to $1000. Adjustable programs and wash times independent of programs. It has a brushless motor that's pretty quiet. Large door opening. High spin speed of 1400rpm. Doesn't jump around when spinning out. If the load is an unusual shape or weight/size like a toilet floor matt or sheep skin shoes it can become unbalanced and not spin at a high rpm. Can vibrate the floor a bit on heavier loads, but we are on 6ft stumps.
