181,000 Lesson: Do Your Research Before Buying an EMU RV We purchased a Fiat EMU E2S RV from EMU RV Pty Ltd in January 2025 for $181,000. We want to share our experience so other buyers can make an informed decision. The sales process with [Name Removed] was smooth and professional. Unfortunately, that level of care did not extend beyond the showroom floor — literally. Within 20 minutes of taking delivery, the glass on the folding table detached. We were advised to fix it ourselves with liquid nails. Within the first 48 hours we encountered multiple issues: the benchtop had detached, the toilet cassette was faulty, and the bed positioned above the water heater generated enough heat to make sleeping impossible unless the heater was switched off entirely. In each instance, rather than resolving these matters directly, we were referred to the individual component suppliers — the water heater agent, the toilet manufacturer — and left to manage warranty claims ourselves. For a $181,000 purchase, we expected the dealer to take ownership of after-sales issues, as is standard practice with other vehicle purchases we’ve made. We also paid approximately $900 for an outdoor shower upgrade. The unit’s quality was inconsistent with the overall price of the vehicle, and we subsequently needed to replace both the hose and handle at our own expense. We were not proactively informed about the limited availability of Fiat dealerships in Australia, which has made servicing the vehicle more difficult than anticipated. Most seriously, when we made the decision to sell the van after just 5,000km, we became aware that [Name Removed] was actively discouraging prospective buyers from purchasing our vehicle — including making representations about the gearbox and the model year. We found this conduct deeply concerning and inconsistent with fair dealing. We previously owned an Avan, which offered significantly better after-sales support nationally and at a considerably lower price point. We share this review not out of bitterness, but because we believe buyers deserve to know what to expect after they hand over their money. We encourage anyone considering this purchase to ask detailed questions about warranty handling, service networks, and after-sales support before signing anything.
