Very disappointed – We got 3 different designs for the install and ducting grom the Escea architects based on the floor plans for our new build. No-one actually came on site to check anything. Needless to say the plans were wrong - had to buy more ducting. Also had to buy a flashing kit which we were told we didnt need. Flame height is very low and extremely disappointing - but fortunately we have the pumice stones, so the flames are just visible over the top of the stones. The pumice stones have shrunk so you can see the base of the fireplace. The glass within 3 months of installation and occasional use showed dried water stains from the internal condensation on the inside of the glass. Solution from Escea NZ was to have it serviced, at our cost, despite the fact it was a new install. The mirrored glass on the sides is completely 'fogged up' Escea initial response was to get it serviced with our issues was to get it serviced. The only authorised service company in the area came and had a look and blamed the gas fitter for a bad install - the gas fitter's response was to say the service guy was wrong. He also said that for the price of the heater I could have had central heating through the house! My last message to Escea went unanswered. It looks awful because of the marked glass. A very expensive mistake.

A feature fireplace – Heater very efficient at heating our home. Being ducted to other rooms gives an overall comfort level. Having the wi-fi option is great to preheat the rooms before arriving home. It is aesthetically pleasing with the black crystals and driftwood a feature.

Inefficient, overpriced Gas Heater – Do not waste your money. Heat output is awful, it doesn't travel or heat corners of the room. It's not quiet and sounds like a jet engine. Flame pattern - doesn't exist and it doesn't represent a real flame effect. The black pebbles look like charcoal and emit an awful layer of dust on the inside of the glass which detracts from the only appealing aspect. For $14k, inclusive of $2k for install it's awful. From the dark ages, even the remote looks like it's from the 80's.
As for the smart heat technology - what a load of rubbish. Still waiting!!!!!
