Eureka Robot Vacuum ES10

I purchased this in July 2024 from Amazon. I love the bagless hub feature - that's great. No further costs, having to buy more bags. As a vacuum, it’s fairly decent. It also has a handy app where you can specify “no-go” areas, so I can keep it out of bedrooms and areas I don’t want it interfering with, such as my dog’s water bowl. However, there… Read more
are a number of downsides:
1. The hub itself can sometimes have trouble sucking the dirt and debris into the container as it gets clogged in the vacuum's opening. I noted this happened a lot when I let the vacuum do the whole house, including the carpeted areas. When I 'banned' it from the carpeted areas, the problem was a lot less. (So, I manually vacuum the bedrooms now, no big deal). 2. This vacuum doesn't seem to sense when the bin is full and will just keep going, leaving little tuffs behind, until it has 'finished its cycle' and only then will it go back to charge and empty. Sometimes, if I'm around when the cycle starts, I'll jump on the app and pretend it's low on charge, send it back to the hub to charge (and thus empty) and then it will kick it out to finish the cycle when it's back to full charge. 3. The E10S is very clumsy and bumps into EVERYTHING. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve cleaned the sensors, but it continues to bang into walls and other obstacles, and it loves eating cables or string cat toys, so you need to keep them away. It also gets stuck under my couch and tangled in my hall rug ALL THE TIME. 4. The mapping feature is hit and miss. Since I’ve had the E10S, I’ve had to restart the machine and get it to map the whole house again – and I don’t have a big house; 3 bedrooms, 1 living/dining area and a kitchen (and I don’t let it vacuum the bedrooms anymore). 5. The mopping feature is pretty average too. I have 2 dogs who drool a lot during meal prep and the vacuum tends to just drag the wet mop along the floating floor, smearing the drool, not really cleaning it. I have a Dyson stick vac and recently bought a mopping attachment – this does a far superior job of cleaning the floor than the Eureka machine does. So, I’ve removed the mopping attachment and just use it as a vacuum only.
Overall, the E10S does what it needs to do (saving me having to do it - I have four animals in the house so it's definitely worth it!), which is the only reason it gets 2 stars and not 1. It is relatively quiet when it runs. I've turned off notifications, as I don't need to know every time it comes on and finishes. The alert function is good, for when it gets trapped under the couch or whatever.
UPDATE
In January 2026, the vacuum developed another issue - the roller brush stopped spinning, so it just dragged the brush across the floor, clogging the area up with debris until it stopped and announced that I needed to "clean the roller". However, even after I'd done this, it happened again...and again....and again. In fact, it now won't complete a full cycle because of this issue. Which now makes the vacuum redundant.
I contacted Eureka only to be told that it was out of warranty and that I'd have to pay to get it fixed. Many other vacuum companies have a 2-year warranty (Ecovacs for example), so the fact that Eureka only have 1 year is very telling. Clearly, they don't expect their products to last longer than 1 year and the fact that mine lasted 1.5 years is purely a miracle.
At the time, the vacuum cost me $649, which was supposedly on SALE FOR HALF PRICE. I now suspect that was a lie, because 1.5 years later, it is now advertised at full price for $519! So, it was clearly never $1298. Even more surprising is that, on Amazon, the next model up (the ‘upgraded’ version – E20) is selling for $598, with a $199 discount coupon, making it $399. Why is the newer version less expensive than the older version???
I went back through the reviews on Amazon again and found 2 interesting posts: 1. One customer wrote that, even though their machine faulted AFTER the 1-year mark, Eureka offered them a full replacement. Why wasn’t I offered that? They told me I can’t get my vacuum replaced or repaired because it was outside the warranty period; yet they disregarded that for this other customer. How is that fair?? Either stand by your 1-year warranty or don’t! 2. Another customer wrote that their machine faulted after only 7 months and Eureka wouldn’t offer them a replacement due to “lack of units available”. So, it’s the customer’s fault that Eureka don’t have enough machines available?? Even though both units (the E10s and the E20) are still for sale on Amazon, and their own website!!
Every time I contacted the Eureka customer service, their responses always came across as scripted. Either AI was replying to me, or the person was terrified to go off-script and write to me like a real person. Not once did they try to compromise, such as offer me a newer model for a discounted price – I would have been happy to pay the difference for a new machine, as I still need one in my house.
So now I need to buy another machine. Due to the price, the 1-year warranty and the lack-lustre customer service, I certainly don't intend of getting another Eureka or I'll have the exact same problem next year!
Purchased the vacuum from Amazon in April 2024. At the time it was priced at $600. The self empty feature was an appealing feature. Overall we have been happy with the performance of the cleaner however have experienced issues with the original… Read more · 1
battery overheating when charging and it eventually stopped charging altogether. Tried to find a replacement and contacted Eureka Aus and no response so we finished up getting the battery pack repacked by a local supplier. It now charges fully with no charge errors. Other issue was the right drive wheel stopped working. On line research indicated others have had the same problem with the right wheel. Other owners expressed frustration as to the lack of instructions on how to service the machine. After contacting Eureka Aus to see if they carried spares I was advised they don’t. Faced with the prospect of scrapping the cleaner I decided to bite the bullet and try and fix the cleaner. What seemed a complicated job actually turned out to be straight forward. The top cover of the cleaner is held on by clips and you can carefully prise it off. The bumper gaurd is held on with tiny screws and once removed the bumper lifts off. The battery cover is held on with 3 screws. Once the battery is removed there are 5 larger screws that join the top and bottom of the cleaner. Once removed you can then gently prise the body apart. When I had the body separated I removed the right side wheel to check that it wasn’t bound up and to try and identify the motor to see if I could buy one on line. The motor had a brand name of REX E334460. I could not find a replacement after searching on line. While examining the motor I saw that it had a power connection soldered to the motor and the red a black wires ran through what looked like a staple and the connection was covered in a white substance. I gently removed the white paste and as I did the black power wire disengaged. It appeared that the black wire may have been sheared by the staple (possibly during manufacture) and was only being held by the white paste. The other end of the black wire was still soldered to the motor. I subsequently re-soldered the wire to the motor body, re-assembled the cleaner and it worked perfectly. It made me wonder if other owners may have had the same issue. Not withstanding these issue we are happy with the cleaner. It does a good job of mapping and cleaning and despite poor customer support from Eureka Aus we would probably buy another one given it price point.
Follow-up · Dustbin capacity is reasonable. Our cleaner covers the main living areas including kitchen, dining. We empty ours daily but you could collect for a week before emptying. The charging station has worked well. You have to occasionally wipe the contacts on the cleaner and station. The mapping function using the pp shows where you have cleaned and can be adjusted to suit. So far it has worked well.
