Annoying amount of water – Great to cool down but what in the world is with the amount of water that comes out if it I have to empty it multiple times a day and it spits water at me out of the top it is annoying I can't keep moving it with my back injury wouldn't have bought it if I had of known about the water thing Show details

loud but effective – For a portable air con, this works well. We used it during the major heat wave of 2020, to cool a 25sqm unit, and it successfully maintained the inside temperature at 10 degrees lower than the outside. It is loud on full fan force but it isn't just all noise. It's a powerful unit as the cool air could be felt right across the room. We used it almost every day during the summer and it worked fine. It's a cheaper alternative to a split system. Show details

Not the best – This portable aircon was really good in the first 3 weeks, was loud but think of it as white noise. After 3 weeks the w.f(water full) light was on then emptied it for the first time after 3 weeks, now every single time I use it for around 2 hrs I have to empty it. Show details

Works well – Bought this as a cheaper & more portable alternative to split system, as we were worried about installation costs. Did a test run by closing all doors & running it in the lounge / dining. The temperature dropped 5 degrees in 30 minutes, to a comfortable 24 degrees. Not bad. It is noisy enough that you have to turn up tv volume, but not so bad you… Read more

couldn’t sleep with it on. Window kit was about 10cm too short, but fitted into a window with fly screen, it didn’t matter. Had intended to move to home office during the day, but can’t be bothered moving window kit. Like that it’s black.

Reasons for buying this unit – I had looked at various models and makes of portable air conditioners as I found the cost of running the ducted airconditioning unit in the rented property was exorbitant. My decision was based on the cost, the capacity and the running costs. In my opinion, it is always better to slightly over spec as that will mean the unit will not have to work… Read more

as hard thus reducing energy cost and it will also not wear out as quickly.

5kw servicing up to 35m2 was more than I required. At $128/kW this was the cheapest I had looked at as others of small capacity were $215/kW or above servicing a smaller area.

Although the unit received no stars I noted the expected energy use of 1,584 kW/hr per year consumption which will be about $348 a year to run which was far cheaper than $1,500 a quarter to run the split A/C. I used the unit at ambient 43 Deg C and set at 22 deg C and the room was cooled down in less than an hour.

The noise level is loud at 75dB but to service makes it work while. Only having a large sliding door made the window outlet too small and had to improvise.

I may add that the retailer where I bought the unit had 5 in stock and as I was purchasing mine I sold 4 to people using the sales logic I described above.

I have placed an energy meter on the unit and will monitor the running costs over summer. Unfortunately, the unit is not reverse cycle so will stand idle for 4-5 months.
