Seems to be a good fridge when working ? after my last review when it stopped working , now the 240 conversion board has failed , so my local repair agent sold me a plug in 12 volt converter unit to run on 12 volt only , rather than spend another $ 400.00 for repair , $150.00 later , back in action Show details

Evakool Travelmate 35 litre portable fridge – Purchased new , stopped working 3yrs 8months later needed $400.00 worth of parts and labour , Evakool Australia would not honour any warranty told me this model had a 3 yr warranty only , used infrequently in the back of vehicle when caravaning, looked after without a scratch was the service providers comment, paid for the repairs and also… Read more

purchased another brand for when it stops again , would not power up on 12 volt and Ac current . Would think a $900.00 fridge at the time when purchased would last longer than this period of time .If consumers want a portable fridge to last more time than this , don't buy this brand

Stops cooling when 12V battery hits 12.8V – My Travelmate TMX65, cools well until my 12V battery goes down to 12.8V. Then the fridge cuts out and the red light flashes every four seconds. How do I rectify??

Fails to cool as expected – Have had fridge set to 0° for 24 hrs. Can’t get it below 4°. It’s literally running continuously. Worked well when I first got it but now it struggles to get things cold. Less than 12 months old and have used it 6 times. These are Chinese and other companies sell them under different brands. Perhaps this is why Evacool don’t sell them anymore. Stopped working – Had my travel mate for about two weeks. Worked well in 12 v and recently for about three days on 240v. Control panel lights are not on. (On off or temp indication) even though the internal light comes on when opening the lid. I think it has died.

Expected better – We purchased the fridge in June 2020, but didn’t start using it until we started travelling in our caravan in November last year. It seemed to be okay in the beginning, and was in the back of our vehicle running off 12v, or whenever at caravan parks, plugged into 240v with an extension lead. We’re currently housesitting and have the fridge… Read more

inside set to freezing, which we always have done.

We’ve noticed though (because it’s down at ground level and not up high in the back of the Landcruiser, that the amber light intermittently comes on (not flashing - just steady), the temp only gets to within 1-3 degrees of the set temp, and it cuts in and out and is VERY loud. We have to shut the door in the room it’s in at night so it doesn’t keep us awake. It also has condensation on the inside edge of the unit as pictured.

We have no way of knowing whether it’s been doing this a since we started using it, because although we regularly checked the temperature, we didn’t notice the amber light. I’m assuming it was always green.

I know for sure that the condensation has always been there.

Another issue is that if I don’t press on the lid, it doesn’t shut/lock properly.

Overall, I have to say I’m pretty disappointed, as we went with Evakool because they’re an Australian company and were recommended to us by the auto electricians people who did our battery install and wiring (they sell them, so that’s probably why come to think of it. We purchased the unit from elsewhere though).

I’d expect to have issues with a cheaper brand, but not this one.

It Stopped Working Within 2 Days Of Receiving It – As stated above there was an issue with unit. Purchased online from Caravan RV Camping arrived promptly. I did not find out the issue with 1st TMX35. Evakool replaced it without question within 48 hours. The staff at both companies were excellent and very helpful. The unit it self is good size to keep in dual cab or under canopy in tray for… Read more ·  2

keeping lunch in it weekdays or duck away for a weekend. Comes in handy for grocery shopping as well. Easy to use. It appears to be quite solid construction. Easy to lift empty. I previously owned a waeco but have herd good thinks about Evakool. Evakool are an Australian Company with a good product and great customer service. Please consider them before spending you money on other brands. Look for deals at Caravan RV Camping online.

Excellent fridge! These negative reviews don't do it justice – I've owned the TMX65 since December 2016. It has worked flawlessly every time. I've ran it as a fridge off a 12V system current draw is very low for a big fridge. Also as a freezer for months at a time and a drinks fridge for social events. It is much lighter and doesn't rust/dent like some other models. 5year warranty which is unrivalled and… Read more ·  1

compressor is really quiet which makes a difference when camping. You can fit stacks of food in these and as long as some common sense prevails you won't have a problem. It has a dairy compartment which is slightly warmer than the main compartment just like normal house fridges. Comes with a cover included and the overall price is cheaper than anything else with a danfoss compressor on the the market. Highly recommended

TMX75..Not the best...buy WEACO – Yeah I really wish I got a Dual zone fridge.the TMX75 is good for the capacity, but the second (spill over) compartment is pointless. I set the fridge on -5, put my meats and dairy on the bottom (where it gets -5) beers on top (usually -1) then if I put beers in the spill over section, they only get cooled....not cold. Feels like the 10ltrs of… Read more

Do not recommend – Our fridge is about 2.5 years, it's about to be sent away again to get a replacement compressor. This is the 2nd time. When it works, it works well, but we shouldn't need to replace compressors on a yearly basis. We're niw looking at another brand

Very impressed with this fridge – I've only had it a few months but It's been excellent. Its very fast to cool down, and very efficient. I've run it non stop in my 4wd for over 3 weeks with minimal driving and my cheap DIY 100w solar system is more than enough to keep it running. I had an old old Engel before and no way could it run just off the 100w ebay panel. The two-way lid is… Read more ·  1

so handy. The wifi is ok but a bit painful as my phone wants to get internet off it too. Bluetooth might have been better but it also has its limits, more the fault of technology than the fridge. I'm very happy with my purchase and the 5 year warranty is good peace of mind.

Works ok but – Bought this at Xmas based on reviews. Used it in the new year 2019 (at home) - works well. Attains temperature very quickly. Have not used wifi yet. But..... I was carrying the fridge downstairs to my garage to fit it in my pajero. Handle (furthest away from compressor) literally came apart in my hand x5 times there and back. Yes I could… Read more

reattach it, but the fridge was empty - what if it was full? It is supposed to be also strong enough to use as a tie-down point. I love the unit, I really do but the handle coming apart without warning in my hand multiple times?

If I am doing something wrong please let me know, but this leaves a bitter taste considering the cost of an otherwise 'top notch' unit.

Affordable high quality – Save yourself lots of $$ and get this model fridge for camping. It is half the price of the competitors yet has the same capacity and same length of warranty on it. Quick to get to low temps and has wifi control options for easy use. Handles both sides so can set up camp without having to work around which way the fridge opens!  Show details

TMX 75 Fridge – Tmx 75 fridge only lasted a couple of hours into first trip. I have had multiple waecos and all have been fantastic, 1 is 15 years old. If you get one have an esky on hand just in case you will be happy you did. Wont be buying another too risky when you need reliable food storage.  Show details

Best Bang for your Buck – I did my research on the TMX 35 (38L) and compared with all other options out there. It simply came down to 'Bang for your Buck' & it's Aust. wide 5 year warranty. The either end opening lid system, WiFi App, cable compartment (surprise discovery not mentioned in brochures) and cover meant it had more features for much less than the expensive… Read more ·  2

brands and better quality and warranty/service options than the cheaper ones.

OPERATION: After plugging in the fridge on 240V and adding a few cold and warm items I set it for 5C, which it reported it achieved in around 20 mins (32C external temp). I used a fridge thermometer to confirm this, placing it halfway up the basket and in the middle away from the cold walls. As expected, and like all other fridges 12V fridges I've had, it was out by around 5C, so I know to set it at around 0C to get 5C and so on. The compressor runs quiet with only a little noise that isn't intrusive. The one feature I wanted and got with the App was the ability to switch the fridge on and off remotely, great for a change of mind while your driving. Also runs perfect on 12V achieving the same cooling times from start up as on 240V.

I've only had the unit for about 2 months now and at this point can't foresee the future in terms of reliability. But I did check out the closest competitor product at a local retailer the day before ordering and there is no doubt that the TMX is equal too and even better in some areas in terms of build quality. The Danfoss compressor has one of the best names around so I'm quietly confident this unit will deliver for a long time to come.

Very happy with the TMX so far and can't justify spending nearly double on the others.

UPDATE: April 5th, 2018 So after 6 months the TMX has not missed a beat. I use it at least 2 times a week as I live 35K's from the closest supermarket - great for those frozen items, nothing has thawed on the way home. And I've had it running for day's on end with two return trips to Melbourne from QLD and a week away camping.

UPDATE: October 10, 2018 I'm now just over 1 year with this great fridge - it's still chilling like the day I first plugged it in. I have it set at -5C which gives me around 0C for icy cold drinks and no food spoilage. My Dad recently commented it was better than his Weaco - I agree (I've had 2 of them in the past).

UPDATE: March 20, 2020 Still going strong! No issues whatsoever. My only criticism would be the App needs an update but still very functional.

Terrible product 2 faulty in a row! – I bought one of the TMX65 fridge freezers recently. The first one couldn't maintain temperature if anything was in the fridge. The ambient temp was about 19 and the unit was set to -22 as I wanted to use it to freeze water to use in an esky. After 24h on 240v power it failed to fully freeze 3 x 1.8l ice cream containers of water stacked on top of… Read more

each other. Additionally, the temp in the main cabinet only ever got to -16 and the containers became less frozen as you went up the cabinet ...this means any frozen goods placed near the top would defrost and possibly refreeze. Evakool staff were great and swapped out the unit for another one but it couldn't cool at all...it increased in temperature over the 5 hours I had it running. I gave up at this point and sent it back for a refund. To have 2 fail was too much and I think it points towards poor QA in their Chinese supplier factories. Much as I like to support Qld companies this will be the last Evakool product I purchase.
