Noisy fan and terrible post-sales service – Fanco Urban 2 was purchased due to Choice recommendation, as I needed a quiet bedroom fan. It was installed in Autumn 2020. until 16th February to replace the fan, so I was without a properly working fan all through summer. The replacement has the same problem. Its now 10th March and I’m still waiting for the 2nd replacement. I would never recommend this fan or the company.
The controls are infuriating – I am editing my review, the original is below for transparency. After having these fans for a year now I can say we have become more and more frustrated with the design. The remote and bracket are very cheap and flimsy. light. You have to press the light button and it comes on full blinding power. Not great when your eyes are adjusted for night time. And there is a loud BEEP. To dim the light you have to turn the light off then on again (yes really!) BEEP BEEP each time. So imagine you need to get up in the middle of the night. First you are blinded then you have to listen to a series of beeps and cop flashing light as you step through the dimming process. Madness!!

When we bought our house 12 years ago we swore we would install ceiling fans...and it took Covid isolation for us to decide to finally do it! We looked at many models and read a heap of reviews and decided to pay a bit extra for the Urban 2 DC model with CCT LED light. We installed 5 in total, 4 in bedrooms and one in a living area. Running 10 hours a day at full speed one fan costs about 8 cents per day to run which is way cheaper than our aircon. Our electrician explained that the DC model would be quieter, more efficient and have more speed options. He did say the AC model was a good fan too if you decide to go that way.
There is so much to love about this fan. It looks great and is incredibly stable and quiet, you only hear the breeze it generates. No wobble or vibration. It has 6 speeds and you can even reverse the direction in winter. I love the timer and often set it to go off after eg 4 hours. The light at full brightness is a very powerful cool white and there are two other options which are less bright and more warm. Dimming is a little strange, you have to turn off and on to cycle through the 3 brightness levels and it beeps each time. The light will always be full power when you turn it on, you have to adjust each time if you want it softer. The remote feels a little light / cheap but it does the job and can be wall mounted. Be aware that with the DC fan your wall switch needs to be on for the remote to work. You can turn the light on and off with the wall switch or remote but you need the remote to turn the fan on or off, change speed, dim the light etc.
Our electrician has installed his fair share of metal rattler fans and was very impressed with the quality of this bad boy. The 52 inch span gives more reach without being “huge”.
We purchased our fans through Fansonline and they were great to deal with. The fans arrived in less than a week with free shipping.
If you are planning on staying in your home for a few years then consider purchasing this fan. Amortised over 5-10 or more years it isn’t much and they are a million times better than the cheapies. The fan comes with a 3 year warranty and is recommended by Choice. I recommend it too!

Great air flow but problem with light shade – This fan is terrific with an almost instant hit of cool air and vetry quiet blades. My electrician is installing three niow but once the lamp shade is on I can't seem to remove it by turnin anti-clockwise. Any tips?

Perfect combination for covered outdoor area – The fans remote being addressable is perfect for multiple fans because you can control the fans and lights either individually or collectively from a remote. If you lose a remote you can re-address your fans to all operate off a spare. They are relatively easy to install and wire (make sure you use an electrician to connect the power). The fan and light outputs are more than ample and they are super quiet. Just a great fan and light combination! Show details
Works ok – The fan works well….But! We bought two…and both the lights went on them after 3 months. To fix this the whole fan needs to be replaced! Not ideal! And to start the fan the lights needs to be on,which when someone else is sleeping is not good,then you turn light off. Show details

into the existing power source and then utilising the remote to adjust fan speed, direction and the brightness of the L.E.D. light. The noise (or lack there-of) of the fan is the immediate highlight. When compared to the fans in the other rooms and as supplied by the house builder, the Franco Urban 2 is literally silent.

audible but not loud. The only sound seems to be that of the wind being generated, not mechanical noise. The fan was the only reasonably priced fan with all the features I wanted: appropriate low noise as mentioned above, DC power, remote control, 3 light settings (including warm white), timer and summer/winter switch on the remote. EXACTLY what I wanted.

Recommended by Choice. Must be good – We purchased and installed 2 in November 2019; both with remote and dimmable LED light. So far they have met all expectations; quiet, no obvious vibration, plenty of "breeze" and the 3x intensity LED light gives more than enough light on high and adequate light on the two lower settings. Remote is easy to operate. Looking forward to trying them out when/if the weather warms up and we need air circulation to sleep. Show details · 1
fanco urban 2 dc fan – gave only 4 stars as i have only had it a month, but works very well. I went for this as it had one of the fastest rotations, and the first time i have had one with a remote. 5 speeds so depending one the weather a nice range of adjustment. Cant hear it spinning to much, and as its a DC fan at full speed they say its only consuming 30 watts. no vibration as seen so far. use it in a family room, does the job well Show details · 1
