MPN: JDS14PCB1 review
Undecided but better than nothing – Please Note: This review will be based on several sub-heading categories to allow readers to skip using their smart mobile devices or computer systems to jump to sections where the information matters most. Headings - Introduction - Products - Pros Vs Cons - Final Thoughts Introduction As you know, its almost that time of the year when Winter sets in and especially with what is going on in the world today; staying at home seems like the social norm of things. Particularly when it comes to either extremities of hot or cold weather. In my case, since completing an outdoor renovation into a new alfresco deck and Laserlite 3000 as part of the roof.
I've never bought a heater for outdoor use and after doing some brief research and especially for stock availability; I came across this. I chose the brand because they do barbecues also which was about it. I did look at a much more expensive outdoor gas heater, but it was about 4 times the cost and was best suited for industrial usage
Products The packaging for this came in a single box and was relatively light to lift off the pallet rack at Bunnings. This item was not on sale but had a bunch of them in stock. I chose this over the others because of its size and when it came to unboxing and putting it together, well... it felt like an IKEA experience. The manual and the instructions overall is terrible. So after using some logical thinking and looking at the marketing on the box; I managed to put it together.
This product is sold as is, and it does not come with a Gas canister; I bought a 8.5 Kg from Bunnings at $60 on top. They've indicated that it would cost $30 for a refill later on.
Pros - large and sturdy especially when placed with a full gas tank at its base; - option to fill the base with sand for extra weight; - metal construction; - fairly easy to operate - but turning it on is a bit tricky - has wheels at the base for easy mobility
Cons - manual and instructions are very bad; - the heat deflector is annoying to assemble (comes with a clear plastic coating that needs to be removed prior to installation; - if you're tall, you can assemble by yourself; if not, then you might need two people - tools that come with the installation are bad
Final Thoughts After firing it up, I had it at 50% capacity in the outside cold. Having this sitting close to an outdoor couch and wearing a T-shirt and shorts while it was about 5 degrees celsius; it was relatively comfortable. However, my body composition in its testing is borderline meso/endo morph and I generally tolerate the cold much better than most people.
Apart from that; the only other concern I would have with this; is that during bad windy weather; I would recommend either storing this away into the garden shed or garage, just to avoid any unforeseen damage.
