Filteroo

I've been looking for a good water filter to remove some of the hard water taste and remove some of the other nasties from my tap water. After a lot of research I found Filteroo and it's been great so far. Am considering another unit for my grandmothers house. Show reply

Received the product promptly and set up easily. I appreciated the support docs and videos that answered any questions I had about operation and set up. We now have the water filter in our kitchen and we're drinking delicious filtered water. Top product and support. Show reply

My Filteroo is still going strong after more than 2 years. Interesting after moving house to discover that the tap water at the new house doesn't have as much "gunk" in it... never ceases to amaze me what gets filtered out. Visitors comment on the "clean and fresh" taste of our filtered water.. we love it! Show reply

Difficult assembly with poor instructions on website – From start to finished assembly I experienced issues. Firstly the wrong tap fitting was sent. Rather than believe me I had to supply photographic evidence. They sent the right tap quickly but fitting the tap to the water filter was tricky. One needs a specifically sized spanner for the nut. have the right sized spanner you have to go find one. I have a spanner that winds to a specific size but no matter what I did it was too bulky to get the right angle to tighten the nut. I ended up just doing it by hand.

The second issue was priming the flouride removal cartridges. They make it look very easy on the instructional videos but in reality it is quite difficult and time consuming. For a start the washer supplied for the task is too small and water goes everywhere. One has to start extremely slowly and wait some time before water starts to filter through the cartridge. This is not explained on the videos and they left out the instructions when they sent the filter. It was very frustrating.

The third issue is that they say they are proudly "Australian" but I suspect they hire a Philippino call centre for troubleshooting. I have nothing against Philippinos but one of the main selling points is "Australian". No matter what I did (in the 3 times I had to call them) I could not speak to any of the Australian owners that they proudly present on the website. The call centre team was a mix of very apologetic to one who laughed at me because I protested that I could not simultaneously hold my phone to take a video of me attempting to prime the flouride cartridge (you have to hold a washer on top of the cartridge and hold this to the tap firmly and then attempt to flush water through). He said "get a friend to help". This was pretty rude.

The next issue was the time it took to do the initial flush of 16L of water through the system. I understand I have 4 filters in the system but there was nothing to say that no water would come through for at least an hour. It took all night to do the flush which is OK but let me know!

The final issue is the structuring of the instructional videos on the website. There are too many and you have to listen to the guy for at least 1 or 2 minutes before getting to the gist. 1 video for each system would be much better. I had to jump around the website to find the right instructions and because they have different models it was sometimes confusing - I had to watch the flouride cartridge instruction on a different system.

I found this all very confusing. They need to do some work on their quality control and their instructions. Tell the consumers the truth about the time it takes to assemble!

Finally, after hours of mopping up water etc, it is working and seems to be OK and the water tastes clean. But for $700 I thought I'd get better instructions. When I asked for some recompense for all the time I spent trying to assemble it - they just ignored that. So, hence this review.
