Have had my dryer for almost 14 years & it is still working great. Only recent issue is where the door clip hooks into front of dryer to start is loose & you need to hold it firm while closing the door. As far as value & quality go it’s seriously 100%. Will definitely buy the same again. Show details

Can drive you bonkers – An extremely puzzling dryer that borders on frustrating. I allow ample time for the sensors to sense- but it still makes no sense- it will not dry- it starts for a second or two- then stops. Other times- same method used- dries a charm- I understand the sensing mechanisms for safety- but this borders on too sensitive- you even look at it- it wants to quiver-I'm going to purchase an Industrial strength dryer that wont cry but dry.

Not Reliable – We purchased this from Appliances Online 29/12/11. It was ok at first, but started to start off slower after about a year and a half. In the last few months the drum would be very slow to start rotating, and more recently, I found even 1 item of clothing seemed a struggle for it. Just over two weeks ago, my son put a shirt in the dryer, waited for… Read more

it to rotate and then left it to have a shower. When he got out, he could smell a burning smell. He found the dryer not tumbling and the lights on the panel were lit up. He doesn't know how long it was like this, but there was a strong burning smell, so he quickly turned it off at the switch. After reading the reviews on here, I can see that there are quite a few with similar problems. I have called F&P and they are coming out on Wed 26/10. I have told them that this dryer is unsafe as it could have caught on fire. How many others have gone like this? This should be a recall. Imagine if someone puts it on at night while they are sleeping or during the day when they are at work? My dryer has not had heavy use either. Maybe 3 to 4 times a month. Will wait to see what the technician says on Wednesday.

Very good dryer – I dont normally write internet reviews, but Im so happy with this dryer I thought I should. My previous dryer was a Fisher and Paykel, it pre-dated the 'aerosense' brand but it was pretty much this dryer. The control panel, lint filter and door were exactly the same and I was very happy with it. It lasted 10 years of regular use before it… Read more

eventually started to struggle to rotate the load. I was thinking I would buy another one of theses - if only the same model was still available (assuming there was no chance). Then I found the aerosense 5kg. Woohoo! It (or something very close to it) IS still available! This was 2 months ago, and the new one is working very well.

As others have said, the default level of dryness is 2 stops short of extra dry, and in summer and with regular clothes this is fine. In winter and/or when drying heavy items - such as duna covers or thick sweaters then on the default setting some creases dont get enough air and remain wet. Setting the item 1 stop closer to extra dry or setting it to extra dry solves this problem just fine. The default setting is good because it works well for most of year and doesn't use more power than is needed. In winter if its stopped a bit short its not hard to click the setting 2 notches toward dryer and hit go. Being it has the sense feature it'll just do the last bit then stop again - its not running by timer. If you prefer to burn the power, set it a bit dryer to begin with.

I found a little lint does come out the hot air pipe, but the vast majority is caught in the filter. I expect this might be normal (i havnt compared with other brands). I didnt find it excessive, and only ever needed to clean the area around the dryer once and that was when I installed the new one.

Thanks Fisher and Paykel for building a good model, releasing it at a good price and then not changing it. Unless there is some epic advance in drying technology in the next 10 years, i'll probably be buying another one some time around 2025.

Great Dryer – This will be my 3rd F&P sensor dryer. The last one (ED56)was used at least once per day for 8 years (clothes dried on line in shade first). It is still working but the drum has come loose so probably needs a repair man to check the inside of the machine and to tighten the screw (we didn't have the right screw driver). The cost of the repair man… Read more

would be half the cost of a new dryer so after 8 years we just decided to get a new one. We purchased the same machine really...its front panel is just a bit different but otherwise all the functions are the same.

I use the dryer occasionally to dry towels straight from the washing machine and as long as you don't stuff the dryer the towels come out dry in the morning.(I always run at night using the crease guard so I don't have to iron anything).

I looked at the condensing, heat pump and gas dryers but they were expensive, too heavy to hang on the wall or the cost of the gas is rising more than other power sources. We decided to go back to the 5kg F&P sensor dryer as we have had no problems with the last 3, which all lasted about 8 to 10 years and were used every day. We have hung ours on the bracket that was there from the last one.. bonus ..very easy installation! We just used the extra panel sticker that comes with the machine so that the panel appears the right way up. You cannot go wrong with one of these babies! The Good Guys price was also quite a bit under that quoted at Appliances On Line.

13 years and no problems at all – This dryer hangs above my washer and is easy to use. Sensors when clothes are dry and automatically ends the cycle. It has varying levels of dryness and temperature. And I can delay the start so it turns on after 9pm when the electricity cost is lower. It dries your clothes and does a good job. As with any dryer, even the $2000 ones, if you stuff… Read more

it full of big items like bed sheets it will have a hard time drying 100%. But when used appropriately I had no problems with it at all.

Excellent over the past few years – No complaints. Still works great. Sometimes clothes are still a bit wet if you don’t put extra dry setting. Does the job and we bought it cheap. Has a timer function which is useful if you have solar power. Noisy but so was our last dryer. I suppose we will know how good it is if it lasts a few more years....  Show details

Low quality material used – Bought it about 3 -4 years ago, and only used it occasionally in winter ( when it rains). Works well but cannot rely on aerosense when you have bed sheets or bath towels in the load. The plastics used on the main door is flimsy , started developing hairline cracks after 2 years . Considering that we have never slammed it shut , it proves that… Read more

the plastic material used for the door is low grade material .

My old Simpson drier lasted 10years and only needed a belt change.

Will definitely not buying any other Fisher Paykel appliances.

Keeps jumping settings...only just out of warranty – We bought our dryer a few years ago and it has started jumping from on setting to another, we had our last dryer a Westinghouse for well over 12 years till it finally stopped spinning, we thought we would swap to a Fisher & Paykel as they had a good name, unfortunately this one only lasted for 3 years. Gave F & P a chance to reply before posting the review, but no response from them Show details

Aerosense 5kg Dryer Fisher and parkel – I see a lot of people asking questions how to use this machine You can download the manual (if you can’t find it) Also Fisher and parkel have a spare parts website to find the model number of your part You can either research on the internet once you have the part number and find it on eBay Auspost or Fisher and Parkel I found ringing customer service help you with troubleshooting or telling you how to use the dryer Show details

Reject Fisher and Paykel 5 kg dryer – Our Fisher and Paykel 5 kg dryer stopped rotating 3 and a half years after purchase. Too expensive to repair. Australian dealers GGs and HN all know they only last 3-5 years. F & P you have lost me and all of our friends (the ones who choose to) as customers.  Show details

No longer spins – The dryer stopped working effectively quite some time ago, but after warranty had expired. Consistent with other reviews the machine no longer spins even with light loads such as two towels that were spun dry. I can get it working if I manually spin it, then quickly shut the door. Overall I'm quite disappointed. I regret not buying a Simpson which based on their washing machines are work horses.  Show details

We bought ours and it went alright till just after warranty ran out then it started getting slower a – Not happy with this dryer at all. For the use it got only drying baby clothes once it was out of warranty that's when it stoped and won't turn witch is very frustrating to say the least. Fisher and paykel have not responded to my claims that this dryer is a fraud and should of had a saftey recall  Show details

Worst dryer ever used - Never buy Fisher Paycal again – Model No DE45F56E Aerosense - very light use as like to use sunshine when possible. Worked alright at first but then wouldnt fully dry load. But even worse for sometime now drum wont even turn. Put it on and then try quickly manually spin the drum, Sometime works but more often doesnt. Doesnt matter what the load. What a lemon.  Show details

Not efficient – I can see why this model has now been discontinued. It doesn't dry clothes before it supposedly has dried them even with a small or medium size load. 9 times out of ten I have to put it on again. I have timed it and it alwyas runs for the same length of time. I don't think the store had any more in stock. I wasn't told it was a discontinued line.  Show details

Awesome machine – I've had 2 of these machines - 1 for the last 14 years, 1 for 7 years. They have worked like a treat, and I use them every day. There are 2 faults with them after a while - the turning switch to the drum will fail after a while. It will give you some warning before it dies completely - but it's easily replaced by F&P. The other fault is the… Read more

Totally unsafe- Safety Recall Needed – Purchased this unit in June 2013 and it worked well until Dec 2016 when we had some sheeting in there that had been hanging on the line and just needed to go in the dryer to remove the dampness. The dryer never stopped. The cycle continued until all of the linen and the dryer was on fire. We were so lucky that we were awake as it was after… Read more

midnight when the fire started. We would usually have put the dryer on and gone to bed, we would never have woken up! Fisher & Paykel technician tested the unit to find no electrical fault and blamed spontaneous combustion, so user fault. After reading reviews here it seems I'm not alone. This is not user fault and clearly there are other units still out there and other households at risk. There should be a recall on this unit and full refund given. I am astonished that Fisher & Paykel are taking such little responsibility and liability for this massive safety risk.

Circuit board broke after 2 years light use, cost more than 60% of purchase price to replace – Circuit board (electric switching behind buttons) malfunctioned and dryer stopped working after 2 years light use. I was quoted cost more than 60% of purchase price to replace this part. Would not buy Fisher and Paykel again due to this costly repair being required after only 2 years of very light use (only used in winter in temperate climate, in 2 person household.  Show details

Top Quality High Usage Dryer – This has been the best dryer, I have ever come across. I use the dryer a lot and it has lasted for 18 years and 2 months. Fabulous. I need to buy another wall mounted dryer and I will purchase another Fisher & Paykel. Fantastic product, thank you very much Fisher & Paykel for producing excellent products that last above the warranty stage and much more beyond over the years. I'm a very happy customer :) I highly recommend this company.

Wonderful, love it – My last clothes dryer was also Fisher & Paykel, it lasted for 20 years so I happily replaced it with another of the same brand. I am thrilled to say that this one is even better. I have had it for 12 months and it is terrific. The auto sensor is great and prevents overdrying, also saves money.

Disappointing Dryer – I have had this dryer for less than 2 years and will never purchase this product again! Can take 3 or 4 attempts at turning the dryer on and off before the barrel will start to turn with only one towel inside! Even then it will spin very slowly and sometimes grind to a halt again. Extremely frustrating.

good but make sure it's installed properly! – Bought it from appliances online, is great now, but when it arrived they didn't bring the kit so that the moisture could be pumped out, so didn't work for the first week. Once we got the kit it started working perfectly! haven't had a complaint to say about it since!

Extremely poor quality – This dryer is a major disappointment. Not even 2 years old and the motor requires replacement. It cannot spin more than 1 item of clothing without stalling. The design feature to spin the drum in both directions drastically reduces the life if the electric motor. It will spin very slowly in one direction, then stop to spin in reverse, and stall.… Read more

Several times I have found the dryer stationary, labouring to spin the drum, and so hot that it is close to catching on fire. This is a major fire risk and an extremely poor product. 2 years life should never be accepted from a white good. If you value quality, avoid this model dryer.

best dryer ever – I bought this dryer 33 years ago and have never had a problem. I am updating my laundry, so I am looking at buying the same dryer again. Fantastic price, not much more than I paid 33 years ago.Hope to have the same sort of lifespan on the new one!

Great dryer – Had this for over a year have used it daily and it's absolutely a life save , easy to clean dries everything and I love the sensor function , my bills haven't risen and my clothes haven't shrunk very efficient and reliable . The lint filter is at the front which makes it super convenient

Never trust this brand again – We had ours for 6 months and it almost caught on fire the sensor was faulty the outer shell of the dryer got that hot that it started melting the washing basket that was sitting on top of it yet the clothes in side were still damp. Luckily we had our dryer outside I wouldn't trust this product inside anyone's house.

Nice dryer - had too many issues – I've had one of these for about 4 years now, I had the barrel start scraping during during the warranty period and it was fixed under warranty. It has started scraping again and since the min cost of a repair out of warranty is 135 its probably time for replacement. --Later Update-- Still goes, just have to spend time pressing the start button wait, press again. It has a hard time starting to rotate but still works once started.  Show details

Disapppointing purchase after 6 months of use – Now had this dryer for 6 months and still have same problems, F&P did offer to replace with a timer type dryer with a white painted drum, not really happy with that but at least they offered a solution. Have continued with the sensor dryer and put up with it's imperfections but still very frustrating, sensor dryer is suppose to sense when clothes are dry but still have issues with damp loads.

Wouldn't go past Fisher & Paykel – Only trust Fisher & Paykel. Fridge, washing machine and now new dryer. Love it. It's fantastic. I bought from Jbhifi.com.au free delivery also. Ordered one day they had it on b my doorstep next day. Clean Lint collector every use. Even my teenage son when not at home, is easy enough for then to use it LOL

Does The Job – This dryer works fine for our needs and I've had it for about 6 months. Generally I just use it for finishing off previously line dried clothes and towels and occasionally a wet load of towels or sheets. Sometimes it doesn't quite get things dry, but it's easily fixed by putting it on another cycle. You do have to clean lint section every time, but that doesn't bother me and I don't get any fluff dispersed in the laundry.

Need to keep an eye on it to get clothes fully dry – I've had this unit for about 10 months and find it really handy, but I have to keep on top of it to make sure the clothes are fully dried. The sensor will stop the dryer as soon as it gets too hot (kind of important for avoiding a fire) but that often means stopping while some of the clothes are still damp. This seems to be more of a problem,… Read more

the less items I put in. Big loads of towels, for example, usually come out dry first go.

For smaller loads, I have to open the door, move the items around, let it cool slightly, then turn it on again.

I'd prefer a unit I could 'set and forget', but ultimately I don't want a house fire from an over-heated dryer so it's something I'm prepared to live with.
