Fisher & Paykel 4.5kg ED57

F&P move to disposible products – My drier stopped heating after 5 years. I contacted a repair agent for F&P and was told it was a common problem. He said for the cost of coming to repair it I was better off buying s new one. I said so it's really a disposible appliance as opposed to a reparable one and he said yes. After buying this brand for over 30 years never again. What is this doing to our environment.

Bad – This dryer is identical to the ED56 except for the decal on the front. Every feature is identical, everything inside is identical, every specification is identical, yet it costs $60 more just for the change in the decal. I just don't get the point!! The changed it to match their new range of aquasmart washers with silver decals! Same as the ED56 More expensive

Fell apart within 2 years – We purchased a washer and dryer at the same time with a second kid on the way. Both appliances have fallen apart. The plastics being used by F&B are so brittle. lower settings do not dry the clothes.

And its noisy. Its the noisiest dryer we have had to date.

We have had the washer fixed once and the doors and surrounds are falling off them again. We are not putting in a another warranty claim we will simply let them die and get something else.

Poor quality. the sensor - saves power The door broke. The plastic surrounds and control panel broke. Lower settings do not dry clothes. Stops but clothes are still damp. Lint everywhere

Perfect every time – This dryer works perfectly every time. No fuss and fast drying. I purchased this from Appliances online when my children were ill and I was washing clothes 3 and 4 times a day..I ordered late one afternoon and received the dryer free delivery too the next day. Terrible – Well, read the con (eg stupid non-working auto-sensor) and burnt clothes...my opinion is not going to be great. Sad that just after I bought mine that the earlier model the ED56 owned by my parents also burnt their items. while it is being replaced I still seriously have issues with having this in my home but F&P won't refund. Grr Hmm - can't think of one!! The darn auto-sensor doesn't work - ours seemed to take forever to spin (like hours!) yet the clothes were never dry. One week after buying it we had enough after it burnt our clothes - can't stand the machine now and I don't trust the auto-sensor at all.

Excellent – This is a fantastic dryer, I had a $200 F&P voucher so went for this dryer over the cheaper models and am glad I did. It is awesome, so easy to use and no need to bother with worrying about how long to set it for. have everything dry evenly. Even if you take out a load and the jeans are still a bit damp just throw them back in and it will turn off when dry - brilliant. My buttons went on the blink after 5 years but it was also after a house move so because it is electronic you may need to take special care when trucking it. Overall a fantastic unit and I will definitely replace it with a similar model when it comes to that. Easy to use buttons, no dials, auto sensing - turn it on and forget about it, delayed start. Excellent – You MUST empty the lint filter before every use for this dryer to work efficiently. Many people I know who have this dryer complain. When I ask them if they empty the lint filter everytime they answer 'No'. Hence the reason for it not working. come back the clothes will be nice and dry. This is the best dryer I have ever had. I hate having to try and predict how long a load of clothes will take to dry in a normal dryer and this one eliminates that.

Excellent – This is my first dryer and i spent a long time on this website trying to decide which one to go with. I'm really happy with my final decision to go with the ED57. to use, i haven't even read the manual yet. Fantastic machine, really happy with it. Easy to use and really quick to dry a pretty full load. Filter is super easy to pull out and clean. Auto sensing is a god send.
