Service Disappointing, Website and Customer Service Very Poor – Porter Davis Homes supply Fisher and Paykel items in new display houses in Melbourne. Our house, costing $800,000, included free standing oven, rangehood and dishwasher as "prestige inclusion items". Having the same model dishwasher some time ago we accepted the inclusion but will replace with a more reliable model when one of the two drawers… Read more
stop working, which, from experience, will happen.
However, we were initially pleased with the oven and gas cooktop until, after 6 months, it stopped working. When trying to arrange service, Fisher and Paykel website kept failing and calling by phone either resulted in a call being lost or no answer. When we finally got through we were supplied with a warranty service number. That was it. We had to contact a local service centre as the company had no technician in Melbourne to undertake repairs. I would have expected Fisher and Paykel to arrange this rather than us contacting a repair service. After a week a service person attended and said the clock and internal board needed replacing. He rang Fisher and Paykel and they told him how to access the back of the stove and when that was done he spent another 30 minutes trying again and again to talk with their service department to order parts. In the end he gave up and left. After three weeks I again contacted customer service and when I explained what had happened the gentleman said, 'this is too hard" and hung up. I eventually got through to the head office and spoke with customer service who said they had been hacked and would be weeks away from suppling parts. They told me to again contact the service company who initially came out to find out what is happening. Porter Davis believed, as such a large customer, that a replacement oven should have been arranged immediately. As it is it will be 2 months before the oven may be repaired. Fisher and Paykel customer service and repairs is a joke and we will be arranging a replacement free standing oven at our own expense and will never purchase another item from this company. They had an excellent reputation many years ago but having been purchased by an overseas company this is no longer the case.
Fisher & Paykel Oven – Well unless you rate an appliance no one will know. I bought this 16.8.18 and installed about a fortnight later, after some hick ups with the clock, and owning and using it for 6 weeks, I am 100% satisfied with the oven and gas top. I only wish they would use better quality gas top burner rings. they are aluminium and so hard to clean. the oven… Read more
works a dream, after an Ariston, which did not work at all. I am so please with this, that i would highly recommend this oven, although when i bought it, it was the display model. it is easy to clean.
Spacious luxury! – This oven is a very big upgrade from my previous oven. I love the cook top layout, as it's spacious and allows for all aspects to be used simultaneously. The oven it's quite large in width allowing us to cook two roasts at once. If anything, I wish the oven component was a bit higher to fit more levels. Show details
Sleek and heats up quickly – I had a Delonghi prior to this which after 6/7 years took ages to heat up, and the door would be very hot. This beauty heats up quickly and blows cold air on the door and handles so there is never a chance of it being hot. Food is evenly cooked and inside is spacious. Door closes properly and gas jobs are of good size and output. Really pleased… Read more
with how it looks as well. Last freestanding did not have proper drawer or kickboard this does so finishes off kitchen nicely.
Cooks great BUT after 10-15 minutes heating up it gets REALLY noisy - we've had fan motors replaced – cooks great but too noisy blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah bah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah bah blah blah bah blah blah blah blah blah blah bah blah blah blah it is too noisy it is too noisy it is too noisy Show details
It is a fair product – We are happy with the new stove it blends with your kitchen colors. It is better than the smeg we just replaced which was taking long to heat up. The stove is user friendly and easy to clean. The stove has a wide oven which has a advantage to us.
Oh dear, we had similar problems – We bought a similar unit 5 years ago, was fine for a while, but the overheating cut-out is annoying, the clock unit died - like yours - and the oven element has a very finite lifespan. Onto the third one this week. The knobs are plastic so you can't leave the oven door open and the numbers wear off. Have other F&P appliances, not convinced about… Read more
quality in general, and anecdotally I think their design outpaces their engineering sometimes (eg, fridges, drawer type dishwashers).
Will save the pennies and buy another Smeg next time, we had one a few years ago and I don't recall any troubles.
A Giant Lemon – Sounds like you got a good one Jakii. We had that many troubles with this unit it is not funny. The original unit we purchased had issues with the display. After about a month of use the display would fade out and disappear, never to be seen again. Although the display is not essential for day-to-day operation, if the unit loses power (eg.… Read more
during a power outage) you need to use the display to reactive the oven. After having 3 displays replaced in 3 months, we eventually put pressure on Fisher and Paykel to replace the unit, which they did.
The replacement unit came, and the first time we turned it on it made so much noise. I opened the door just in time to see the fan at the back of the oven dislodge and stop. Back on the phone to their customer service, they talked me through how to take the rear panel off to check the fan. When I pulled it out I found the centre hole in the fan was drilled off-centre, so it was always going to rattle. So another visit by the tech, this time to replace the fan.
Up and running at last, or so it seemed. We had a couple of occasions where the oven would just switch off for seemingly no reason. After a couple of ruined meals, the tech was out again to fix the thermostat. He told us the oven will cut out if it gets too hot? Isn’t heat what ovens do?? So, we spent the next couple of months cooking nothing over 200 degrees or the oven would turn itself off for 15 minutes.
Over the next couple of months the unit developed more problems. The gas jets would flame out when lighting them and you would have to wait a couple of minutes before you could try again; the oven mode selection knob was almost completely off; and the oven light on the display panel had ceased working.
Tech out again, this time to fix everything. He spent half a day fixing the thermostat, replacing the light and knob and fixing the burners. All good.....until this week. Now the oven does not work in normal fan-force mode. We have had to cook by using grill mode. After calling customer service again we have been told it is unrelated to our previous problems and need to have it fixed again.
All this has happened in just over 3 years to 2 different units. I would go put my $2000+ somewhere else, and will never buy a Fisher and Paykel appliance ever again. 5 burners and a big oven..when it works... Everything. Bad workmanship, multiple issues/
frustrating purchase – We bought this oven brand new- when it arrived the door and bottom storage were out of alignment. After having a technician out, it could not be fixed as the doors do not have an adjuster, the backing peice was also warped, had to get a replacement which they did not have in Stock for 2 months. We went back to where we purchased it and got a… Read more
replacement through them, but once installed the fan did not operate, the trays were warped and again had to book a technician. Finally over a month later we had an oven that works. We have only had this oven for 5 months now and pray nothing else goes wrong. The many functions Lots
