Stay clear, no matter how nice it looks – There's a review I have written about FlexiRent few months ago, check my profile for the previous review. This review is post end-of agreement arrangement. Almost two months ago, prior to my agreement ending, FlexiRent sent me an email saying that should I wish to buy my product (ended up paying an extra $700 through FlexiRent, which is fine, I… Read more
had accepted that), but when they claim that you can make them an offer to purchase, is just a scam. Because in all cases they will refuse your offer, so they can offer their own price. That is, if you had the chance to make them an offer, because you will receive an email before you having the chance to offer them anything.
This is from the agreement: “12.4. Offer to purchase
Make us an offer to purchase the Goods. If we accept your offer to purchase, you will own the Goods. GST will
apply to the purchase price. However, we do have the right to reject your offer.”
In my case, they had wanted, and I quote from the email: "Offer to Purchase1 - If you would like to own the existing goods, we would be pleased to negotiate a sale price with you. We estimate that the sale price of the existing goods would be approximately $1,117.60 at the end of term. You will also need to pay any outstanding monthly rental payments or arrears".
So in addition to my monthly payments, I was still going to pay them $1,117.60 by the end of the term should I have wanted to buy the good. So I've decided to give them a call and dispute the price, because the price they have "estimated" is based on market value. I called to dispute the number, and it went down to about $500. But I wasn't entirely satisfied so I sent them an email, that this case will be raised with ACCC or ASIC, and that their "agreement" is dodgy and violates Australian laws that a company selling goods and services should be clear.
So I received a call from FlexiRent, and we disputed the matter, and upon asking how did they reach the price of $1,170.60, which is based on market value, the answer couldn't be any more offensive than: "I don't know, I am not a computer". So, I mentioned that I will raise this case with ACCC, and the answer was: "Yeah, you should". And the funny part was that, the conversation started with: "It doesn't make sense for the customer to make an offer".
Eventually, the representative said, we will bring the agreed value from ~ $500 (when I first disputed their number) to $313 (my monthly payment).
I wish ProductReview allows attachment, and I would have attached the emails between myself and FlexiRent.
This was my first and definitely the last experience with FlexiRent, and wish I hadn't gone down this road, and bought the item directly, but I hadn't been in Australia for long to know every dodgy dealing out there in the Australian market.
Anyhow, I do wish that people will read this review and any other review out there for them to make a sound decision before they get into an agreement with FlexiRent. Don't believe what the sales representative at your store (JB, Good Guys, etc...) tell you that you can even make them an offer of $1, this certainly isn't true. Because this is what I have been told, and he was missing another 170 after that $1. Because if you read the agreement carefully, it is mentioned that any offer should be of the market value of the item.
Dishonest contract – I paid double-up time and covered for 3 extra years after end of original contract for accidental loss, damage, etc Theyre refusing to honour my repairs before my lease expires 18/06/22. Contract shortened from September 2022. I spoke to them 4 times this morning Sneaky manager said I am no longer covered. Read the email luv

Flexirent are criminals – ACC was $500 I’m credit. Charged dishonour fees should be $148pm. It was nearly $600 over 2 months. Even when I’m in credit. They threatened to take my belongs to the value of $96.18. They also took money out of an account but I did not sign their form to do so. I have emailed them and all the phone calls have stopped asking for their $96.18. I… Read more
have asked for a copy of this document that I never filled out or signed but they don’t respond because they don’t want to admit that they helped themselves to my bank account without the form being signed by myself. They also rejected a form I sent them from my work email but replied to it and acknowledged my name so they knew it was me the account holder. [name removed] shove your response where the sun don’t shine because you would have to have no soul to represent such a bunch of thieves and you should be ashamed of yourself.

Very misleading – After being locked in to the contract for nearly 24 months I’ve now received an email saying there is a $411 balloon payment at the end of the contract. When I purchased said product at Harvey Norman I requested a go MasterCard which the salesman continued to push the Flexirent product so I went ahead with it. Very disappointed to say the least Show details

Not so bad if you communicate – I had a gripe with the original Lisa agreement I had with Harvey Norman for a laptop. The agreement got changed when Flexirent took over. I ended up paying over the original purchase price but came to an amicable agreement to end the contract after term. Customer Service were very good and kept in touch over progress in resolving my gripe. Show details · 1
Thanks – Although disappointed that my MacBook didn't last for the 3 year contract, I now have a new computer and without much hassle. I believe flexirent did what they could under the terms of the agreement. Their claim process could be a bit clearer but overall I'm happy with the outcome. Show reply
DJI Drone with FlexiRent – I cant fault it. I could have paid it outright But for $400-500 extra I recieved upto 3 replacements if I crashed it. I used this only 1 time and had no issues at all. At the end of the 12months contract i had the option of receiving an additional 12months cover for an extra months payment. I took the offer and as I had a great credit history Flexirent waved the extra fee! So I saved $200and got 12months extra protection. Worked for me. Show reply

Poor communication – Over 10yrs of contracts and not one payment summary I've had 1 email in 3yrs so when my contract ended nothing was mentioned. You think with paying over $9k for a $5k purchase I would be the perfect customer but instead have checked finding multiple payments still coming from my acc over $340 several months after term. This has to be illegal Show details

Very unprofessional, unorganised, most horrible customer service – I 100% do not recommend opening a contract with flexirent as they are very poor and careless when it comes to the customers needs. This company is a total rip-off – Regardless of the operating names you keep changing from Flexirent to Lisa and now the operations are discontinued. A new one is birth called Humm. sales assistant convinced on why I should go for flexirent because it's a finance lease and I have the option of saving myself the expenses and get covered for insurance and stuff. He won and I was happy to pay 40% more for the laptop to be spread over 3 years. The laptop had issues earlier this year and I returned it back to Harvey norman using my product warranty that I paid for and got it replaced with another one. I still kept paying my monthly installment to your company and all of a sudden I am getting an email that my rental agreement is about to expire and I do not own the laptop after 3 years??? What kind if scam is this? Why do I have to pay again to own the laptop I have already paid over 40% for. I have even returned the initial laptop and only got a new one because of my product warranty. This is really terrible and manipulative.

Scam! You go in thinking you are buying but you are not! – I purchased a laptop, television and surround sound bar 5 years ago. I was told by JBHIFI that I was buying the products. It wasn't until I saw the name of the company in an email that I was concerned this was not the case as it was called flexi"rent". I ended up paying $10,000 for products worth $4,000. to tell me that a 5 year old laptop would be worth $300!! Laptops are obsolete after 2 years! I found them to be completely irregular with payments. Constantly putting me into financial distress by taking payments out when it wasn't supposed to. It was originally supposed to be fortnightly. Some fortnight's they did no payments then next week they would do it twice in a fortnight. This has been one of the worst experiences of my life and I emplore people to please please please think twice before signing with them. It is a scam. They say you are buying something then at the end of your contract they want to take your products back. Oh also. If you have signed with them, please keep an eye on your account. I was 2 payments in credit, then funnily on the day they finalised it. That credit was gone.

... Well, then suddenly it's no longer LISA and I'm now dealing with the AWFUL Flexirent ... so let's assess shall we, I purchased in Aug 2019 over 3 years ... the laptop was worth $3,200 ... I've been paying $147 per month since then ... a total payment to date of $2,940 ... Like a lot of people I lost my job on 31 March and I called them to advise... they wanted me to lodge a hardship claim ... I explained I was willing to negotiate a fair price for the laptop seeing I had almost paid it's value anyway ... only to then be told my laptop was now only worth $400 and that my payout was $2,700 which is the remaining "rental" term ... I went onto their website to lodge a complaint and they took 20 days to respond ... and only to be told you've been given your options... Honestly, how do these people sleep at night working for such a bunches of crooks!!! Shameful situation that I am out of work and have to pay $147 per month of my Centrelink to these people ...

replacement goods were sent over a month ago, but lost in transit. And I understand this is beyond their control, but when you send an email you get an automated response saying they will reply in 5 days LOL mmm still waiting, I think I might franchisee a company like this, sell a product based on sales crap, provide no service, have customer without product for over 2 months and still demand payment, if I want out I have to break contract. People do not be conned, this product and or the LIsA product or HUMM whatever they call them selves this week, is a sham and you WILL be ripped off.

Same problems as everyone else – So two years ago I went to buy a gaming monitor at Harvey Norman. The guy there convinced me to use Lisa Flexi rent. You know blah blah blah they will look after you. damage the product that it was a hardware failure And I shouldn’t have to pay the fee. Then goes on to tell me I have to pay the fee because I did not purchase a extended warranty, like what it’s not my my equipment i just lease it it’s up to Lisa to do that if they want to.But lo and behold they approve the event claim and take the $110 anyway. So that was all good so I asked them for a loan replacement gaming monitor while the one I am leasing of them is being repaired, Then they proceeded to tell me they do not loan computer monitors how wonderful. That would be considered a breach of lease agreement. They are actually what I consider to be thieves and I strongly suggest that no one ever leases any type of equipment from them the worst company to deal with and the customer service is just crap.To be honest just save up people and buy the product you’re looking for cheers

Salesman at Harvey Norman promised us the world as well and said we do not have to worry about anything but that was not the case. If you are thinking of going with flexi-rent, you better think it through wisely or else you will regret. We paid so much but got nothing out of it. Stay away from this deal and it is not worth it! You better take a loan and purchase your goods than letting flexi-rent suck your money out of your pocket.

would own the goods at the end of the lease term.
I had never been late on payments however hit a snag when Covid hit and I changed jobs. My pay period changed to the end of each month. I emailed FlexiGroup on several occasions, including a collections officer from humm-group advising that I needed to change my payment dates and we agreed on the 1st of each month. This did not happen and I recently received a notice of termination of lease and demand for payment and return of goods. I am happy to catch up any outstanding lease payments and come to and agreement to finalise the lease and keep the goods.
The only reason the lease payments have fallen behind is an error on FlexiGroups part with their lack of actioning a simple request. I will not be returning the goods and will be engaging a solicitor, along with reporting FlexiGroup to the financial ombudsman unless I get contacted in the next 48 hours.
